Name: Dantalion
Age: Unknown, indicates age as being “One of the Old Ones”
Gender: Neither, can assume the guise of both but prefers “he”
Race: Demon/Jinn
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Power Level: Low-Tier High (7)
Timeline: Whenever and wherever demons exist
Appearance: Due to Dantalion’s nature of being an adept shape-shifter and tendency to be a trickster, his visual traits will be listed and categorized accordingly.
Default: His most comfortable and “formal” appearance used mainly when talking to higher-ranking demons or has had his abilities broken/shattered in the human world (typically) by purifying powers.
Hair: Feathery and white, it is jagged and smoothed back because of the small bony nubs on the side of his face. He has a long wispy ‘braid’ of hair that ends in a sharp metal tip.
Eyes: One eye is purple and the other is an inverted ‘white’ and pale iris.
Skin: Pale and covered in violet-red markings on half.
Build: Depending on the level of dispelling/difference in rank to the superior he is speaking to: (child-youth) Frail or (young-adult) Lean/Lithe. The higher the dispelling or difference in rank the younger he appears. (In theory if he was dispelled at a strong enough rate he would cease to exist.)
Attire: Wears a body-covering cloak that is dark and jeweled at the top and pale at the bottom. The hem appears to trail like a cloud would. Regardless of form the cloak will cover from his neck to his shins and can shift just as he does to assume the form of his desired clothing.
Height: (child) 3’6”, (youth) 4’8”, (young-adult) 5’6”
Dealing with Humans: Typically he will appear before the human that has summoned him in the form of a deceased lover or well-trusted friend (unless otherwise directly stipulated by the summoner). Should the human lack any single specific “other” to trust he will appear in clothing akin to clergy attire and be holding a large tome.
Old War: This form is what could be considered the truest form of Dantalion. He grows in size to that of a great beast that appears to be some kind of monstrous elk. He despises this form and it is reserved for only when a superior demon commands him to do so or a human manages to trick him into assuming this form as part of a pact. *This form is typically sealed away from the human world as per Hell’s agreement with Heaven until The Fall occurs.

Old War form
Permanent Trait: He can take on the appearance of anyone he has seen however he has a mark on his tongue that he can never alter or ‘move’. This mark is what his personal seal looks like.
Personality: A trickster by nature, Dantalion only maintains his loyalty to superior demons and humans he has formed pacts with. His goal is to help flood Hell with more souls to hasten the coming of The Fall as well as to amass the army of Hell. Even though he has high traffic with humans he has a tendency to torment humans and delight in their suffering. Despite this prejudice he has no problems dealing with and even teaching humans the various arts and sciences. He believes that by teaching them he is flattering himself and as a demon he revels in this praise.
He has a compulsion to fill his tome of infinite pages with the words of stories, academia and emotional gems of society. He is a procrastinator and yet expectant by nature but is capable of initiating great plots should he be given the order to do so. He displays traits of yearning for the perks of leadership but lacks the motivation to grasp them himself.
Dantalion often kisses up to his superiors so that he can remain in their good graces, for the most part though this admiration is sincere. However when it comes to humans he isn’t afraid of bending the rules of his deals by exploiting the loopholes in the human’s deal, but he will only do this if it will serve his superiors’ purposes. Otherwise he would see no need to break one of his only codes (preserving the loyalty of pact holders) and only sources where he can exploit the inferiority of others.
His view and methods when it comes to life (when he is left to his own devices) is that he overlooks the transient aspects and values of humans (love, mercy, life, etc.) and is whimsical when it comes to favoring or damning others.
History: Sometime in the beginning when the Fallen were banished from the Kingdom there was so very much to do and to rebuild. He heard so much of the politics yet the meaning of it soared over his head as he tried to scrounge up the means to adapt to the lake of fire. He was one of the lucky ones, one of the few not bound to the bottom of the lake by the cursed chains.
Some time passed and there was talk of rising up against the oppressor. Again the words merely glossed over his comprehension and somehow he’d been graced with going to the middle world, the neutral grounds that would be the plane of the final battle in the distant future. He didn’t mind the fresh air or spare much regard for how he’d acquired it, getting away from the lake was all that mattered.
On the surface world he bore witness to much of the ignorance and simple squabbles of mankind. He grew tired of them after a generation of watching dimly from the shadows, they were so blissful. When he went back to his forced home he had been pulled aside to attend one of the sermons given by the Nephilim (or so they had claimed to be). Dantilion was intrigued by the talks of new jobs for his kind and that the Prince would reward them with their paradise.
He immediately recruited, he had to, given he’d visited the human world once already. And even though it was partially against his will, he didn’t mind. He was given the tools of contracting as well as rank. All he would have to do was follow orders and he would obtain the luxury he sought.
As he ascended back to the middle world, thoughts of finally draining the lake of his brothers crossed his mind. It was a pleasant way to serve his people and to serve himself. But he would keep personal obligations and those of his superiors in equal balance unless his survival dictated otherwise.
-----
Dantalion is a demon that managed to rise in the ranks by harvesting enough souls to gain power and blessings from his superiors. He continues to collect and enslave souls in order to power the blades that will cut the threads binding his brethren within the lake of fire.
He has made countless deals with humans and chronicles them all in his Book of Infinity. The book itself was a gift he’d gained after becoming a Duke of Hell and assembling a personal army of his own. He rarely directly deals with the trifles of the historical events of humanity but has caused a massacre here and there.
He is currently awaiting orders from his superiors before conducting any further actions outside of the summons of his pact-holders.
Powers:
Shape-Shifting - Can take on the guise of others after seeing them. This cannot be broken by most people, however this does not bar them from figuring out he is trying to dupe them. He uses this ability to infiltrate, manipulate or otherwise fool others into pawning off their souls. He can also assume the form of animals and their inherent abilities such as birds flying, fish breathing in water, etc. He can do this with otherworld creatures as well, however he has to have seen its living incarnation to do it. *His shape-shifting is not limited to a complete transformation, part of his attacks require partial transformations such as limbs into weapons.
Teleportation - He can move to other locations instantly with any liquid to form a portal. These liquids are not limited to: blood, water, ink, etc. (in theory urine as well but he would sooner cut himself than leap into that kind of liquid.)
Seal-Break - For a short period of time and under emergencies, Dantilion can assume his demon form which makes him far more able-bodied and difficult to take down much less destroy. This form provides the means to wreak pure destruction and havoc that his smaller humanoid forms lack.
Metal Devourer - Dantalion is impervious to most conventional metals. In fact he can eat them and actually recover should he have been injured. He is most compatible with iron and steel. Gold and silver are metals that have the “worst taste.” Metal that is coated with the blood of the divine or blessed burn him.
Acid - Can spit out a surge of searing acid from his mouth. This acid is black in color and smells of fresh tar. It is unique in that it has no effect on metal yet can easily melt flesh. Flesh that can assume the toughness of metal but not the properties of metal can still be burned by this substance.
Minions - Though he rarely uses them he can summon assistance from Hell (or the agents on Earth) to aid in his dealings. He also uses several officers to keep an eye on his on-going affairs with humans as well as a web of information across the planet.
Transplant - On the occasion that Dantalion loses a limb he may rob a replacement from another living creature. When it attaches to his body it will integrate itself into the likeness he prefers.
Weapons:
Book of Infinity - A book which can record all truths and cannot be destroyed by any hand aside from the Almighty and the Seraphs (this includes the Fallen of equal rank). Has infinite pages and writes itself by coming into contact with a person’s unguarded mind. This book can weakly read others active minds by bludgeoning them with it and it can “read” the life of a dead person. If this person is turned to ashes or otherwise missing their head the book cannot be used to ascribe their memories/thoughts. This book can literally eat other written works and absorb their words. This is Dantalion’s most valuable treasure and he usually keeps it safe by storing it in his body (yes he eats it when he isn’t using it). The opposite of this book would be the book of souls which is held in Heaven.
Contract - Soul-Binding document which allows for Dantalion to form deals with humans for the price of their soul, virtues of other currency of the immaterial.
Weaknesses:
Word Hungry - Dantalion is obsessive when it comes to knowing things that others or a select few are privileged in knowing such as secrets. Often when he is tricked it involves him knowing secrets but they cannot be any random secrets they have to be exclusive bits of knowledge such as information of the arcane or celestial/netherworld related politics. Because of this he is often eavesdropping or otherwise trying to gossip and get the latest scoop on everything. **The prospect of having select secrets hidden away from him (such as hostage) by someone will madden him to no end.
Fear of Ignorance - Being proven wrong on a fact or generally not being in the loop of something being passed off as common knowledge upsets him. He can actually be bullied by this tactic into doing many things that he typically would not participate or associate with, however this only applies mainly to the news of Hell or any areas elsewhere he insists in being proficient in the events/history of.
Conservative Regeneration - Dantalion’s humanoid form isn’t particularly sturdy when it comes to staying in one piece. He can be blasted apart and as long as his head cannot reunite with his body he is mostly powerless aside from his words. Because of this, if someone was to merely chop off his head and keep it, they would be able to interrogate him while still brutalizing him. (He will die if his tongue is severed or otherwise destroyed.)
Obligation - Dantalion is required to attend to the summons of any human who evokes his ritual. If he neglects/avoids this call he will experience crippling pain. He is also not permitted to arbitrarily take the life of any contract holder without reason. **For reference his summoning entails blood from the summoner to be placed into a (any) metal bowl of pure water and for Dantalion's seal to be burned with flame. However after creating a pact with Dantalion he will award them a personal item they may use to quickly evoke his presence or communicate with him. Should several summon him at once he will use his assistants to entertain their attention until he is able to attend to the matter himself.
