Name: Stephen "Psyche Blade" Faulke
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human/Mutant
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power Level: 3
Timeline: Modern
Appearance: He isn't the largest man in the world at 5'10"; 185, but he is rather large for a psionist. In casual clothing he likes to keep it loose, letting his long brown hair to hang as it pleases and wearing oversized shirts, jeans, etc. His X-men uniform is almost a basic neo-suit with the black and gray and an X-men symbol on the chest; however, there are a few differences like the fact that it is sleeveless, has straps to accommodate several knives on his thighs and calves, and a black and silver mask that covers his whole head, save for a braided ponytail that sticks out of the back.
Personality: Highly variable. Due to the "clingy" nature of his powers he has lost almost all traces of his own personality and latches onto the personalities of those closest to him, forming a hodgepodge of a comic, brawler, and any other archetype you could think of. The only trait he has maintained is the fact that he constantly smiles each smile meaning something different, but a smile nonetheless.
History: Stephen lived his first fourteen years in complete normalcy. sure he was quite a fast learner, but no one would have credited that to the fact that he was a mutant. He flew through school with flying colors and progressively found himself more capable of making intimate friends with little effort to understand them. He waved it off as himself simply being a natural 'people' person.
After he turned eighteen, however, this became more and more unlikely. His girlfriends were regularly being chased off by the fact that he was constantly finishing their sentences. He didn't even mean to, it just came out whenever they started talking, he just couldn't help spitting it out. It escalated rather quickly from there, and he started to see visions of his friend's past and memories. He didn't know what was happening, but it was driving him crazy.
To avoid the constant mental 'noise' that plagued him, he moved into the country and lived a year in relative silence while he worked toward a degree online, and in Psychology no doubt.
The silence was broken soon after when he was visited by a spokesperson for a special academy. This woman, Jean Grey, told him about what she thought were his powers. At first he was skeptic, but he was also desperate for some kind of human contact. He decided to try it out and if they could help him control his 'power', he would stay. Within a month he had his bags packed and headed for the X-mansion where he would be staying.
He met several other mutants like himself who were just trying to get back in control and easily befriended most of them. He was happy with the fact that they accepted his sentence finishing ways. It was other telepaths that he got along with the best, and with their help he gained control over his powers.
He spent a few years there, training his mind and body to be the best they could be. It was soon after he turned twenty-two that he was approached by Professor Xavier. The Professor told him about the X-men and their goals as well as the Brotherhood and theirs. After the conversation, Xavier extended an invitation to join the others before him such as Wolverine, Storm, and even Jean Grey. He graciously accepted and he was presented with his own uniform.
Powers:
Brainwave Synch-
Full Synch~ this is as close to true telepathy that Stephen can get. It requires a few seconds of contact with the subject's head, but with it he has the most insight on that subject. He can feel their feelings, see their immediate thoughts, and even tap into often reviewed memories.(One person only)
Half Synch~ Less powerful than the full synch, but more powerful than the quarter synch. this requires contact, but not necessarily with the subjects head. With the half synch he can access the subjects immediate thoughts and is influenced by their emotions.(Two person limit)
Quarter Synch~ His least in-depth synch. This requires no contact, but for him to only be in the vicinity of the subject. With this technique he likens his thought process to that of his subject. He doesn't actually see or feel anything from the subject, but by thinking how he/she thinks he gains accurate insight on what they will conclude from by trying to find a solution for their problems. This is his most-used technique in team combat. (Four person limit)
Psyche Manifestation- When he has fully synched with a person he can bring out and utilize strengths within that person to summon a supernatural weapon to his aid. The weapon varies from person to person as does their psychological function and state. Because of the full synch he wields the weapon with great expertise. The weapon is dispelled once the synch is dissolved.
Equipment: Up to twelve small to medium sized knives that are stored on his thighs and calves, and a cutlass that he wears at his hip which is the manifestation of his own psyche and cannot be broken as long as his will stands firm.
Weakness: He is well trained in hand-to-hand combat, but he could easily be beaten by someone of more than casual training.
Though he is a versatile psionist, he is generally weak offensively and defensively. A stronger telepath could easily turn his synchs away and enter his own mind just as easily.
