Daristan Tannes
Power Level: High Tier Medium (6)
Alignment: Gravitates between Lawful Neutral and Lawful Evil
Age: 28
Physical Description
Height: 6ft
Weight: 172
Eye color: Black, under certain lighting it becomes purple in reflection of the chemicals running through his veins.
Hair color/Style: Dark brown with clots of black tar ever present. Seems to be unkempt, however with a wave of his hand, he can position it to be out of his eyes, as if slicking it back, the tar seems to hold it as such.
Skin Color: White (Caucasian descent)
Clothing: Daristan's new attire consists of a black robe with gray almost tribal like markings worn around his body. A black plain martial artists belt has been tied around his waist, however instead of a single knot, there are two knots, one three inches below the other with the tails of the belt reaching just below his knees giving it a unique like appearance. He continues to wear his hood, gloves, and boots as he did before, though they have been updated with similar unique gray colored symbols. He also continues to use metalic arm and shin guards. However, they are much lighter and used from a stronger material. They are more durable for defense, but carry less weight for offense.

Personality: Daristan is very stubborn, easily agitated, and very aggressive. He preffers to be left alone, and views company as bothersome and distracting. He is hesitant to attack those that bother him because of a combination of his old beliefs and the dark blood inside him, but if he finds past crimes of the person, he will attack them. Daristan tends to use his wisdom to put people down whom he does not like, however, if people do not bother him, he does not bother them, and tends to hold people in higher favor who “Shut up and do their job”. A reason for such a negative attitude is perhaps that he is constantly fighting the terrible urges of the dark blood which creates a large amount of stress on his mind, and that to relieve this stress, he takes it out on others. Daristan is also very arrogant, but not to the point where he is stupid. He is somewhat racist against races that are naturally superior to humans, as he views they were given their gifts on silver spoons, while he had to gain his power through rigourous training, as such, he is naturally hostile to such races…
Religion: Though rarely noted or seen, Daristan is a worshipper of Tyr; god of justice in the forgotten realms, however, due to past actions, he has fallen out of favor of the god, none the less, he still worships Tyr as he is the personification of his old beliefs.
History: Daristan Tannes was a child who was abandoned at birth, to unknown parents and for unknown reason. He was too young to truly take care of himself, and if he was not soon found, he would have most likely died. However, luck and the fates would be on his side, and he was found by a traveling monk named Rothir Tambearer, and was adopted as one of his many children. Rothir was the grandmaster of a small but growing Monastery order known as the Shinning Justice. What made the Shinning Justice different from other orders was that it would often go out of it’s way to find young orphans, and adopt them into the order, and in the local area gained the reputation as “Church of the Warrior Orphans”. Daristan was trained since he was adopted, to be one of these warriors and uphold one of the main ideals of the order; Justice. To the Order, Justice was of great importance, without it, the world would fall into chaos. And as such, Daristan was trained to be not only a warrior, but a lone judge and jury, and in absolute need, executioner. But he was also trained to find injustices commited in the cities, protect the weak and those unable to defend themselves, and confirm that everything is fair.
Daristan was an excellent student, strong in many of the aspects that were required for an agent justice. He was a skilled warrior, more than competent in understanding and applying his teachings, and one of the strongest willed students of the monastery. He was unswayed by various tests that put his mind to the test, and such will power, one could say resulted in him being as stubborn as he is today. Daristan continued his training, as well as performing various tasks for local cities, and things seemed to go on very well, until one day that would change everything.
Rothir requested of Daristan’s presence, and informed him he was to go on a secret mission. He was to meet a contact deep within the woods, and he would receive further instructions from there. Daristan did not question his master’s orders, and did so. The last memory he had was entering the forest to meet with the contact.
Several days later, Daristan awoke within a dark dungeon chained to a wall. He was weak, confused, and pretty sure that he had fallen into a trap. The dungeon appeared to be empty, and with some effort, Daristan was in time able to break free of the rusted chains. He moved quickly to return to his Monastery, to only find that it had been burnt to the ground. There was nothing Daristan could do but move on, lost, confused, and in grief. He traveled for several months, going nowhere, just traveling. When he began to have violent urges. At first, he thought these were merely urges to find out who was responsible for the destruction of the monastery and pay them back ten fold, and feelings of vengeance would pass, so he tried to ignore them. But they did not go away, they came back, more and more violent, until one day, he snapped, and the strange force took him over. One day while on the crossroads, he committed violent murder. He killed a passing traveler and their child in cold blood, and reveled in it, to the point where he began to plan his next murder, until something else took over. Soon after committing the murder. He found that he was unable to breath, struggling, he began to cough up a strange black tar substances that seemed to be growing in his body, and it seemed to be triggered by recent events. Daristan was able to survive the ordeal, though he immediately dropped everything he was doing and sought help.
After a short time of visiting various Magi and Alchemists, was he able to determine that he had a magical substance in his body, a strange tar like substance that acted as an artificial blood. The tar like blood seemed to be alive in it’s own rite and parasitic, as it fed off acts of evil committed by it’s host. Even worse, as it fed on these acts, it grew, and although it was supposed to be like regular blood, it did not seem to work properly. (The black tar is unable to carry oxygen much like red blood cells do in normal red blood) thus, upon discovering this, it is determined, that if Daristan were to commit more evil acts, the tar would continue to grow, and Daristan would die.
Daristan at first searched far and wide for a cure, and although he was able to figure out the chemical compounds, there seemed to be a final ingredient that prevented the substance from being destroyed, as well as creating the properties of evil behind the parasitic blood. (Years later, Daristan would discover that the final ingredient was water from the river in which the at the time mortal god of murder; Bhaal, was killed, and thus his essence seeped into the river, tainting the river. Thus, it would be just about impossible to remove a dead gods presence short of death.)
Soon, Daristan began having dreams, blocked out memories from his captivity, during his stay, he was able to recall the man who did this to him, perhaps even seeing him once or twice in the early months, but not realizing. He realized he was an experiment of the mage Airoar Gor-Scythe. Daristan would then set out, to find Airoar, and kill him for what he has done, and if he can, find answers on the destruction of his monastery.
Combat: Daristan is a very powerful warrior monk; he fights with various martial arts but mostly with a custom variation of them all. He wears metal arm guards that go from halfway up his forearm to a little past his knuckles. He also wears metal shin guards on his legs. The metal guards protect him from bladed weapons, but he will take them off if he is fighting another person who uses hand-to-hand techniques if it is a formal battle. Although the arm guards offer protection, they are only that, a defensive weapon and add little to his offense. He also carries many bladed disk and pin darts. Daristan has a little above average strength but strikes so fiercely and each strike subtley charged with ki, that thd damage of his attacks wreak surpass those of various heavy weapons, from greatswords and maces, to warhammers and heavy flails. A single blow from Daristan, would be like four consecutve strikes from an average mace. He is very agile on his feet and is able to perform amazing acrobatic feats in both offense and defense. He also has a light resistance to magic and a very heavy resistance to mind abilities. At one point Daristan had much difficulty with more than one opponent, however, through years of adventuring, he has become attuned to fighting multiple advesaries, while not completely past this weakness, he is now stronger than before. While he very strong against most humanoids, he has trouble against very large non-humanoids, or creatures with no discernable anatomy. Another weakness is that he not only doesn’t really trust anybody, but often times outright despises them. He tends to become more willing to those who dont bother him in any way and mind their own bussiness.
Over the years, Daristan has continued to train and fight. To the point of seeking out hostile enemies just to get what he would consider a "Normal training session" he has since expanded his combat abilities, becoming far more dangerous in hand to hand combat with vicious techniques and blows than ever before.
Abilities: Being a warrior monk Daristan is able to channel a subtle energy called ki, which allows him to perform amazing acrobatic feats in battle, as well as perform various powerful abilities to help him in combat. Daristan has two types of abilities. The first set is abilities that he and various other monks of the same art learn through training and ki mastering. These abilities are considered to always be in effect (unless noted) and require no channeling to perform. The second set of abilities are moves Daristan has learned through the training of his school and it's own specific styles. The second set does require charging of ki. Over time, Daristan is learning more and more moves, as well as his older capabilities becoming more powerful.
First Set:
Fast movement: Daristan is unnaturally fast, and can move 2 and 2/3rds times faster than a normal human. This is simply moving, not running. The arm and leg guards however slow him down somewhat.
Ki Strike: All of Daristan's attacks are fused with ki energy, and thus have various properties. When striking, Daristan's fists, elbows, and legs are considered to have magical proportions, as well as containing a subtle force of energy that emits an ever slight feeling of Law. This marginal aura really has no effect, however it can come in handy against creatures who are weak against such auras, or have a resistance to attacks unless infused with such an aura. Daristan's fists are also incredibly resilient as well as having the capability to bypass even the strongest of defenses. If Daristan were to repeatedly punch a solid object such as adamantine (AKA: adamantium, which has durability like that of diamond) His hands would suffer no pain or damage, even if he were to repeatedly punch for a long period of time. The force of Daristan's blows are also to the extreme point, that he can put dents in adamantium as well as crush diamond (if you feel this is not right, PM me and I'll happily show you a conversion and how I got to such a conclusion) though, do not expect him to punch holes in walls of such materials. Also, the force of his blows seemingly pass through such objects unhindered. Thus, if Daristan were to strike a character in Adamantium armor, they would feel the force of the effect, and thus still receive a great amount of damage.
Flurry of Blows: Daristan has various styles of fighting, but most preffered of them are rapid lightning fast attacks that target several points of an opponents body. Normally he begins attacking in such a fashion when close to an opponent to press his offense, ussually overwhelming his opponent's defense. Each strike is no less powerful than a regular strike, however he does not always have the opportunity to initiate this style of attacking. This ability can also be used on the defensive to block an opponent's attacks if they are executed in the same manner. It is simple for Daristan to simply manuever his arm and shin guards in the way of the oncoming attacking, allowing him to keep up with his opponent who would need to wind up for each swing.
Stunning Fist: Daristan can charge his fist with energy and make an attack that can stun an opponent for a short time, allowing Daristan to get at least one attack in. He can perform this ability three times a day.
Purity of Body: Daristan is immune to all forms of disease, except for those of a supernatural or magical nature.
Diamond Body: Daristan is immune to all poisons.
Abundant Step: (Identical to the Abundant Step that Rothir has)
Diamond Soul: Daristan acquires a strong resistance to magic, though the stronger the magic caster, the less chance he has of resisting the magic
Quivering Palm: Once per two days, Daristan can create a palm strike that is fused with strange vibrations of ki energy. When he strikes an enemy, he basically severs the chi energy of a body that keeps the life force and soul of a character bound to a body, resulting in instant death. Daristan can strike an opponent, setting up the unnoticeable vibrations in their body, but needs to be able to 'will' them to die. Thus, he can strike someone, and then simply will them to die later. This attack can be resisted however.
Tongue of Sun and Moon: Daristan can speak with and understand any intelligent race.
Soul of the Unbreakable: Daristan grows closer and closer to achieving perfection in mind and body in the unification of these three aspects of the human being. He has gotten to the point, where his will power alone has become so great that it has extended itself into his very soul. His will power has given his soul it's own very strength. Currently Daristan's soul is very highly resistant to attacks that directly target his soul. His soul also cannot be removed from his body unless his body itself is killed. His soul in itself also cannot be absorbed or devoured by those who would have such capabilities, and would perhaps even lash out from the ethereal planes if such attempts were made.
Second Set: Attacks that require charging of ki
Particle movement: As Daristan runs at top speed in combat, his image becomes blurred, making it hard for others to determine his next action.
Ion Fist/Kick: Daristan focuses on expanding the Ki energy out of his fist or foot, which results in the appendage being surrounded in a glowing white mist. The attack is more powerful than a regular attack and can even deflect light magic like simple fireballs.
Empty Soul: A very powerful defensive attack. If Daristan sees an attack that he may not survive, if he focuses to a high enough degree, he can momentarily make his body like that of a ghosts or spirits, any attacks made against him just pass right through him. Daristan must remain still however for this to work.
Flash, Dash, Bam!: A good offensive move for taking an opponent by surprise. If Daristan doesn’t move and focuses his ki, he can seemingly rush a short distance at an inhuman speed, almost too fast for the human eye too track. If he rushes past an opponent he will deliver a reverse elbow to the opponents head or spine, but he must time it very carefully otherwise he will probably miss. This attack is useless on opponents who are moving however, and right before the dash, Daristan changes his stance, giving away his action. This attack can also be used to dodge enemy attacks as well. If used frequently, the attack becomes Multi Flash Bash
Blazing Justice: The most powerful attack that Daristan knows. If Daristan inhales and focuses on surging all the ki within himself and any around him into one of his arms to the limit that he can do, he can turn his arm into a devastatingly powerful attack. White light blazes brightly around his entire arm, Daristan then releases a battle cry as he charges at his opponent. If Daristan punches the enemy with the blazing arm, the attack first explodes in a white sphere covering a 15ft radius (The explosion does no damage, it is just for show), the opponent is sent flying a distance of 20-30ft, any powered up form they were in is canceled out to their normal form, and they are massively injured and on the verge of, if not already at, unconsciousness or death. During the charge, the blazing arm can deflect all but the most powerful of an opponent’s spells or abilities, and it can tear through most defensive powers as well. This is a powerful attack indeed, but it comes with many consequences. First, during the charge, Daristan must keep a constant battle cry, if he runs out of breath or stops, the ki energy fades away. Also after the attack, Daristan loses 75% of whatever life-force he has left (it comes back after he rests or meditates), whichever arm he used becomes numb and is nearly useless for the rest of the battle, Daristan loses all but the Particle Movement and Ion Fist/Kick abilities, and he is slightly dizzy. If he misses, he only takes 50% life-force damage and has the arm he attacked with become temporarily numb. This is another do-or-die attack and usually only used when desperately needed.
Wholeness of body: Daristan has the ability to heal himself or others. It starts out pretty weak only halfway scabbing a wound, but if used constantly can heal wounds completely. This also hurts the undead. This ability can only be used once per day but it can be halved for later use (In other words: half now, half later.)
Titan’s Fury: A powerful physical attack that uses ki energy to both drastically speed up and increase the power of Daristan’s attacks for a few short seconds. If Daristan lands an attack on the opponent, blocked or not, he immediately adds four other attacks executed so quickly they are practically impossible to block or dodge. This attack, if used enough becomes Titan’s Rage, then Titans Wrath.
Daristan has acquired Titans Rage
Forever Equal: A very powerful ki ability. If Daristan focuses his ki uninterrupted for at least seven seconds, a white sphere emits in a 60ft radius. Anyone in the sphere loses all magic, powers, enchantments, and ki abilities for 1 minute and 30 seconds, including Daristan. Everyone is forced to use their weapon or hand to hand techniques in order to continue fighting. This is especially effective against those who purely use magic like mages, sorcerers, etc.
Caution of Time: If Daristan focuses his ki enough, he can instantly slow time and anybody in a 50ft radius to ¼ of what it normally is for about 20 seconds. While everyone in the radius moves at ¼ speed but their mind sees it as all time moving normally. Like everyone else, Daristan is slowed as well, but his mind registers as if time was moving normally, he also gains the knowledge of everything that is happening around him. This allows Daristan to plan out tactics, execute multiple things at once, and give himself a little extra time to make split second decisions. If used enough this attack becomes Time Halt then Time Control. (If you don’t understand this, just imagine bullet time or what they do in the Matrix.)
Force Arc: Harnessing the power of pure force, Daristan forces it in its purest form into his fist in which it appears transparent but contorts any image seen through it (like looking into direct heat you can see the wavy lines, it’s sort of like that). If Daristan slams his fist onto the ground the force phases in an arc underground, when it reaches the opponent the force explodes from under the opponents feet. Causing ground and hopefully the opponent to go flying. The attack works on dirt, hardened lava, wood, and brick, but is useless on solid rock and metal This attack if used enough can become Force Blow, Force Surge, and then Force Crash.
Maximum Desolation: A powerful attack combining Daristan’s Ki power and a strange element of pure force. Daristan will leap into the air and intertwine his fists into a double fisted slam, he will aim for his opponent but doesn’t need to hit in order to cause damage. As Daristan comes down while charging these powers, he slams his fists into either his opponent, or the ground where his opponent was. Contact results in a wide range explosion of pure force, tearing up the ground and slamming into others causing low to moderate to high damage, depending on how close one is to the center of impact. The attack also damages Daristan but doesn’t send him flying. If used often the attack becomes Maximum Carnage and then Maximum Onslaught.
Daristan has aquired Maximum Onslaught
Anion Strike: A much more powerful form of the Ion Fist ability, this form a bright sky blue flame envelops Daristan’s arm or leg as he strikes. This is a powerful single attack, and it has three different power levels, the highest using the most Ki energy. With this power, Daristan can crack enemy energy and magical shields as well as catch and redirect some projectiles.
Nemesis: A combat ability that self activates as long as Daristan has Ki to spare. What this ability does is that an invisible sphere of negative Ki envelops Daristan and has a radius of 20 feet, anyone within the sphere cannot teleport or use some form of near instant travel other than flight, including allies. This if used frequently becomes Nemesis Alpha and then Nemesis X
Monk’s Acrimony: This ability at one time was called Monk’s Virtue and would allow Daristan’s Ki energy to seep out of him healing and recharging things around him. But after his corruption this attack like Daristan has become contorted. Now instead of healing others, the ability draws out the Ki and life force from things around him, like a leech or a parasite, but it only recharges Daristan’s Ki at its current level. The ability only works on living things that are not of high intelligence, thus if Daristan used this ability in a desolate wasteland and only humans (for example) were present, the ability would be useless. Daristan can only drain a certain amount. If used often the ability becomes Monks Virulence, and then Monks Rancor.
Colossus Retribution: Another attack of extreme power, nearly rivaling the Blazing Justice Attack. Daristan will focus his Ki energy into his arm which will glow a bright sky blew, Daristan will then throw his fist into the ground and the ground from which he striked will burst out in Ki energy at an angle of about 50 to 60 degrees. The attack is close range and is either meant as an attack to decimate a close opponent or as a powerful counter attack to an enemy who is either attacking from the air at the said angle or from a charge. Remember this is a close range attack and the energy doesn’t explode horizontally, but at an angle. There are three forms to this attack, each one eating up more Ki than the previous but giving more in power. The third form is massive, can shatter shields, and can knock an opponent out of a powered up form, unless the form is permanent. If used often the attack becomes Behemoth Retribution.
Weakness: Daristan seems to have trouble backing down from a challenge, some will see this noble, others as stupid, he will fight to the bitter end, even if he has the opportunity to surrender. Also, randomly, the tar like substance will fill his lungs, and Daristan will erupt in a fit of coughing and hacking making him nearly defenseless for a short (but perhaps critical amount of time) and afterwards, he is fatigued.
