Name: Azariah DeLuca (“Riah”)
Pronunciation: [ah-zah-RI-ah]
Age: 17
Gender: female
Race: human
Alignment: lawful neutral
Power level: low-tier medium
Timeline: modern
Appearance:
Hair: Riah has straight glossy brown hair that hangs just below her shoulder blades. She keeps it parted to the left. Her bangs are about three inches long, hanging down to her cheeks. She pulls them to one side, parts them with her hair, or clips them back.
Eyes: Her eyes are a dull grayish aquamarine.
Skin: A normal pale Caucasian tone. She has a very light spray of freckles across her cheeks.
Build: She is small and compact with very noticeable curves. Azariah’s waist looks extremely small because of her hourglass figure. Her clothes are often baggy around her middle while tight across her hips and chest.
Height: 5’2”
Weight: 103 lbs
Attire: Because of her wallflower appearance, Riah often wears neutral colors (gray, black, tan, navy, etc.) She is most often found in her oversized gray pullover-sweater, the sleeves coming down over her hands, and a pair of black jeans. Even though she has- what many would consider to be- a nice body, she doesn’t particularly enjoy showing it off by low-cut or skimpy clothing. The shoes she wears are a pair of black flip-flops with thick foam soles or a pair of black Converse All-Stars.
Personality: Azariah is your average book worm, mostly keeping to herself with her nose buried in a good book. She is timid and quiet, also being very modest. She tries hard to stick to her beliefs, though she is prone to out-of-character behavior, such as engaging in sexual activity or drinking alcohol (which- since she is 17- is illegal.) Even though she has a hard time fighting off temptations, she often gets embarrassed by her own behavior. She longs to help others, but she is often too shy to interact with anyone outside her own family or small circle of friends. She can also be a bit naïve.
*Jung – Myers-Briggs Typology classifies Azariah as a “Counselor Guardian”, or an INFJ (introverted-intuitive-feeling-judging). Key personality traits for this type include a desire to help others, an enjoyment of solitude, an ability to interact well with others, complicated and private inner lives, kindness, positivity, and a vivid imagination.
History: Azariah was born to two typical parents in a small Southern home in the country. All was normal until her fifth birthday party. She had been a very outgoing child at the time, always playing with the other children her age. When her fifth birthday came and several of her friends had come over to her house for a small party in the backyard, Azariah accidentally spilled some of her drink on her new white dress in plain sight of the others. As the other children laughed, the girl became embarrassed, revealing her power: pyrokinesis. The five lit candles on her birthday cake suddenly erupted into a much larger fire, setting the table and much of her yard ablaze. As her mother herded the other now screaming children back into the house, her father snatched an extremely frightened Azariah up and set her by the house, then running inside to call for emergency assistance. Fortunately, the fire was put out and none of the children were hurt. However, it was inevitable that the parents of Azariah’s friends found out about Azariah’s power, or curse, as they saw it. They branded Riah as some kind of demon and demanded that the DeLuca family move. The DeLucas, perplexed and fearful, obliged. They moved north to an apartment in a crowded city, hoping to blend in.
Once in the city, Azariah had a much harder time making new friends. She went through elementary school and much of middle school without anything more than a few good acquaintances. This was not without reason- she feared becoming embarrassed since it could have caused her powers to go haywire. Azariah’s fear was not the only thing that remained from that day; she has since learned that she still has pyrokinesis and has gained some degree of control over it. Her parents begged her not to practice it, though she would secretly take books of matches into the boiler room and test her skills when no one was home. Riah has also discovered her psychic powers, as well, though she cannot use these as readily as she can her pyrokinesis. She now has a small circle of friends and volunteers at the library, reading being one of her favorite pastimes.
Powers:
Pyrokinesis: Azariah cannot actually create fire, but she can control it. At the height of emotional stress (sadness, anger, embarrassment, etc.), Riah is able to cause small fires to become several times larger. She cannot always control this reaction, though she can control her ability to a small degree. She has sharpened her skills to the point that she can sometimes direct fires and make them larger. For example, she could strike a match, make the fire much larger with her pyrokinesis, and then direct where she wanted it to burn.
Because of her power over fire, her skin has adapted so that she cannot feel pain from being burned. This could also be a weakness, since she wouldn’t be able to tell when she was in pain. For example, if her house were to catch on fire while she were asleep, she could burn to death and never notice it.
She also has two psychic powers:
1) Retrocognition: (also called Postcognition) It comes from the Latin words retro, meaning “backwards”, and cognition meaning “knowing”. It is the ability to see events that have happened in the past. Unlike her pyrokinesis, Azariah does not use emotional stress to use this power. Instead, it is activated by deep concentration.
2) Telekinesis: Like her ability to see into the past, she can control this power. It allows her to move objects and people as well as create force fields. The drawback is that it leaves her feeling exhausted after several minutes of use. This is the power that Riah has the least practice with.
Aside from her powers, Azariah has studied self-defense and, in most situations, would be able to defend herself with her own physical strength.
Equipment:
Azariah's father had been on the police force. After her parents' death, she took her father's gun, a Beretta M92 9mm with a 15 shot magazine. She also took his Walthers PPK 9mm with a 6 shot magazine and carries it in her purse for extra protection. Because she is only 17, she carries the guns illegally and must use them with great discretion.
She is known to carry books of matches and lighters to aid her in her pyrokinesis.
Weakness: She is a bit of an emotional wreck. It is easy to control her by manipulating her emotions.
When it comes to weaknesses in her powers, being in a room where nothing can burn is an easy way to keep her from using her pyrokinesis. Also, she is unable to use her powers near large bodies of water, as the moisture in the air prevents it.

(Let me know if I need to fix the power level or anything. This is my first OC on here. I had to modify her SOOOOO much from the one on KaosKomics. *_*)
