(Alright, here it is. It's probably modern times, enter however you want, wherever you want.)
The figure looked decidedly out of place, walking down the sidewalk as people either gawked or avoided him. Despite the rest of his body being clad in red plate with gold trim, his head was helmetless, and brown hair could be seen allowed to fall in a loose comb away from his face. Some probably thought he was some sort of cosplayer, complete with a golden cape with an odd symbol on the back, but most didn't want to risk that large sword on his back being real in order to find out.
His gaze drifted to and fro as he took in the surroundings, the cars, the televisions, even the concrete and asphalt seemed of interest to him. Then he caught something else that drew his interest instead, and he walked across the street when the others did when the sign of a man walking lit up across the way and stepped into a weapons shop.

"Okay..." A young man with dark blue hair said, holding a leveled gun at the head of the cashier of the weapons store. "Where do you keep your good stuff?" He asked calmly.
The clerk stared back at the boy, his face pale. "I... I..."
The young man suddenly moved. "Hold that thought." He said as he clubbed the man in the neck, knocking him out cold. The man collapsed behind the counter. The boy put the gun down and smoothed out his hair, talking to the otherwise empty shop. "Okay, play it cool, Michael, play it cool..." He looked out at the "knight" walking towards the shop.
"Hi there, can I help you with anything?" The boy asked when the knight stepped inside.

The knight looked around at the selection, moved over to a shotgun and pointed at it. "Yes, actually. Merchant, could you tell me about this weapon?"

Avnition sat on the floor, his eyes maddeningly wide, slightly trembling in front of a TV set intently watching a video demo for some sort of game. Avnition had no clue however, and he brought his trembling hand up to his mouth and began to bite away at his nails, his eyes affixed to the television screen above him.
"Freakin' nerds..." muttered a voice behind Avnition.
Avnition spun around on the floor, sprawled out on his back and trembling as the store owner beared down on him.
"Listen, you freak," said the man looking over Avnition's clothes, "If you're not gonna buy anything get out! It's been a long enough day for me as it is!"
Avnition said nothing, but looked around hastily for somewhere to run to, his head darting back and forth. He spied the exit to the store and darted for it but stopped half way. He clumsily turned around, ran back for his staff, then darted again for the exit, fleeing from the burning stare of the store owner. For all Avnition knew, he probably thought some powerful wizard had called him into that store. And for all Avnition knew, he probably thought the store owner to be just that wizard. All Avnition knew for sure is that minutes ago he was walking along a stream peacefully making his way towards a town when a flash of light overwhelmed him. And he was now most certainly not there.
Avnition ran straight out past a group of people, rounded a corner and sprinted directly into the street, just barely avoiding collision with a car. He searched around frantically for something familiar and spotted a knight with a sword walking across the street in a group of people. The only thoughts going through his chaotic mind were to seek familiarity, so Avnition impulsively darted towards the knight.
A car sped past in front Avnition, and he quickly came to a stop on his toes, just barely avoiding yet another run in with a vehicle. Avnition paused in the median of the road, looking for the knight, longing for the piece of familiarity in this hectic world of roaring machines and flashing technology, but was unable to find it. He was breathing incredibly rapidly, his heart slamming itself against his ribs and was just barely holding back tears. Then he spotted the knight in a store, and once again, ran as fast as he could towards it.

On a street corner not too far from the weapons store, one Obadiah Brilshaden stood in the street, directing traffic and civilians, standing under a broken-looking stoplight and complete with shiny orange vest; anyone watching his motions would feel that they were unenthusiastic, though not truly lazy. Anyone feeling bold enough to get close to him would have heard him mumbling in a decidedly unhappy manner.
"Damn stupid bet.....the hell should I be a........traffic cop for that lazy......"

Dynne walked east in the lower foothills of the Rocky mountains. He had been roaming around there for a while after seen an evil act. The assailant got away, but he intended to chase him down. It is my duty to cleanse this world of evil. If I let one pass, that will be one too many. He was barefoot, as usual, and the rocks were digging into his feet, causing them to bleed. I suppose I should invest in a pair of shoes. He checked in his pocket only to find it empty, he wasn't suprised. "Damn." he spoke quietly to himself in disappointment.
Cylox kicked up his feet in his L.A. appartment. It was nice for an appartment because he was constantly pickpoketing people and selling whatever he didn't want. It was how he made a living. Hah, That was too easy. He spun a golden pocket watch on his finger. "This'll fetch a pretty price. Might as well go sell it now." He hopped up from his chair and sat down at his computer. He pulled up eBay and put the watch up for sale, saying it was an antique. "This really is too easy for someone like me." Gunsshots rang out in the distance. "Music to my ears."

"Oh, that?" The young man asked. "Your typical shotgun. It's good for hunting and such."
I think... Michael thought.

"Shotgun," the knight repeated. "How does it work?"

Sprinting as fast as he could, gasping and wheezing, Avnition was hardly able to stop himself from running into the door of the store that the knight has just entered. He was able to compose himself ever so slightly in the focus in that little knock up. Granted it wasn't much, but anything that reduced his shock was of great help at the time.
He threw open the door and ran inside but quickly tripped on the lip of the floor. Sprawled face down on the floor he looked up at the two people inside this strange store in utter disarray.

Michael raised an eyebrow and stared down at Avnition before looking back at Maxwell. "Well, the long and the short of it is this. It's loaded with cartridges, and then fires them at high speeds. These shots are full of smaller pieces of metal, so if you're close you can fire a bunch of pieces into your target. That makes a shotgun good for closer range targets."

The knight knelt down by Avnition. "Hey, you alright?"

*Gun Shop*
Avnition just sort of stared at the knight. When he started regaining his senses and awareness, he replied to the knight.
"I don't know...where am I?" He said with a shaky voice as he began to get up, making sure to pick up his staff.

*MEANWHILE, at some random bank inside the city.*
*3 men enter a somewhat crowded bank. Each man was dressed in a tight spandex suit with a helmet that covered their whole head. The 3 men were each dressed in a different color tight outfit that matched their helmets. Red, was the man in the middle, Blue was to Red’s right, and yellow was to Red’s left. Each man had a white belt with a strange automatic looking hand gun with a strange design and shape that looked a bit like a dragon with a gun barrel in it’s mouth holstered.*
Red, Blue, and Yellow: “WE ARE! The bodega RANGERS!”
*While the people inside the bank stared at the bodega rangers in confusion, a sliver Toyota Prius pulled up and parked right in front of the bank.*
Red: “Fear not oh citizens of this fair city. We are not here to do you any harm. You see, the government refuses to recognize our heroicness and doesn’t wish to fund us. There for we are here to make a deal with this bank so that we may be well funded to protect this city of all sorts of villains and evil monsters.”
*While red was talking, a man with blue hair and tight water proof black rimmed goggles with mirror lenses dressed in a Black bullet proof vest with a plane black Mariachi jacket over it and olive green cargo pants with old black military boots exited the sliver Toyota prius. This man, known to almost no one, was the Modern Swordsmen better known to other super heroes as El Wray. El Wray entered the bank through the front door; the only visible weapons on him were the ones on his utility belt. Strangely, none of the bodega rangers had noticed him.*
Blue: “You have no need to fear our awesome bodega dragon blaster. We simply brought them incase any real criminals showed up to rob this bank.” Yellow: “However we must ask you all to please stay calm and not-“ El Wray: “EXCUSE ME!”
*El Wray reached behind his back with his right hand and pulled out his collapsible police baton. With a flick of his wrist the baton was extended with a slight clicking sound. All 3 of the bodega rangers turned around and drew their blasters, pointing them at El Wray.*
Red: “HA HA! It seems a foolish enough criminal has come to rob you all. Fear not for we shall-“ El Wray: “If you’re going to try to extort money from a bank, do it around closing time.” Red: “By what do you mean, we are-“ El Wray: “Breaking the law in many ways.” Red: “We are the good guys, you are the evil doer.” El Wray: “I have no idea how you got the last bank to pay up, but this time you 3 are under arrest.” Yellow: “That’s enough out of you. I think you’re forgetting we have guns out and pointed at you.”
*Yellow moved to within a few feet in front of El Wray. Without warning El Wray charged forward with his left hand out and pushed the blaster away from him. He followed this up with a wide swing with his police baton to Yellow’s jaw. The helmet broke like cheap plastic around the impact point and yellow fell over, dropping his gun. El Wray paused for moment.*
El Wray: “Wow… I was guessing with that one.” Blue: “You’re so dead for hurting yellow!”
*In that instant El Wray threw the baton at Blue, hitting him in the crotch. Blue fell over grabbing his crotch and yelling in pain.*
Red: “BLUE! YELLOW! What the hell is wrong with you? Can’t you see we have guns you dumbass?”
*El Wray walked up to red. Red’s blaster was now pointing point blank at El Wray’s head. With a smile, El Wray ducked down to a knee and punched red in the stomach before grabbing the gun out of his hands. Red didn’t fall over back held his stomach and walked back a little. El Wray pointed Red’s blaster at Red.*
El Wray: “Next time, bring real guns.”
*For some unknown reason, Red’s blaster went off, firing a real bullet at Red’s helmet. The bullet went through red’s helmet, hitting him right above the visor. As expected Red fell over, with blood rushing out of the hole in his helmet. El Wray held up the blaster, pointing it towards the ceiling while looking at it.*
El Wray: “Aw fuck…”

On his way east, Dynne stopped on the top of a building in a medium sized town. "the traffic is slow today. I wonder what's going on. "He hopped a few buildings over to see an odd looking police officer guiding traffic. "No sign of an accident, must be a shorted light." He scanned the area to have something else catch his eye. In a weapon store not too far away, stod a knight-looking fellow clad in red armor. Dynne stood up and scratched his chin. "how odd... I must go over and check this out." He jumped down and landed in front of the shop, making a few cracks in the sidewalk. A young boy stood in the door whild the knight was on the other side of him. 'Sir?" he spoke to the knight over the child. "Are you lost or are you truly what you seem to be?"

*Gun Shop*
"Porebello Lake," the knight answered Avnition, "or that's what the city limits sign read when I came in."
When Dynne entered, the young knight grinned. "That depends. What do I seem to be?"
