Karen nodded. "Yeah.... I'd say that that must mean he's gay. But.... well... I'm here, I'm cute, and I'm single... and I'm straight..." Karen sighed in depression.

Leaning against some random wall on the opposite side of the room as Bates, Tate stood with his vision locked on the dining area, or rather the women who stood there.
Thank God for skimpy clothing, he thought, eyeing a red-haired woman wearing a particularly small dress through his peripheral vision.
He was now beginning to feel happy that he had come underdressed. To everyone, he must have looked like one of the servants, without a mask and in the butler's clothing. At least until everyone figured out he was-- even if accidental-- a guest, this gave him the option of staying out of the way for the time being. It also gave him a moment to figure out how he would get himself out of the mess he was in.

(Confusion! GB >> I think I missed your post where your character showed up. Charlie was staring at Kainus in my last post. Do I need to go back and add him greeting your character?)

(Flame posted?)
"Ditto," Nayra agreed, then elbowed her classmate with a grin. "What do you say we go meet him?"

Karen frowned in thought. "Meh, you can.... I'm just going to look around a bit." She said, for some reason becoming a bit detatched.

Nayra paused, looking back to her friend. "Karen? Is everything okay?"

(Oh! Sorry Tragedy, I didn't see your reply and edit. Yes, Charlie did say hello to Karen.)
"Huh?" Karen asked. "Me? I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You seem distracted," Nayra answered. "If you're looking to investigate what's going on like I am, then going immediately at the beginning is a bad idea. Wait until later when it won't be so obvious. Until then, just relax and mingle." She plucked up a bite-size cheesecake square from the table beside her with a grin. "And enjoy the snacks!" she finished before popping it into her own mouth.

Karen frowned. "I'm not distracted..." She lied. "I'm fine." The girl looked down at the table. "Just go have fun."

Charlie eyed Krystal intently before lifting an arm and gesturing her with a point to join the girls in the other room. She had a job to do. Once she had left Tate’s side, Charlie approached him with a kinder, more brotherly grin then before. “There now, I’m sorry we got off to such a sour start young Tate.” He held his hand out to him, a crooked grin forming on his lips. “Now, lets settle things with a handshake and enjoy the evening, yes?”
Krystal moved toward the other girls in the room, her cheeks instantly flushing pink as she grew closer. For a slave, she had a shy nature, but she had to hide it. It seemed approaching females was always the hardest thing to do. “Uhm, is there anything I can get you ladies tonight? A drink perhaps?” She kept her gaze low, her fingers gently twisting at the fabric of her gown. Again, had anyone bothered to look down, they would have noticed the girls bare feet.

Tate snapped his vision instantly up to Bates. The sight of Bates' grin made him sick; he had just ripped an object out of Tate's face, among other odd events, and now he was expecting forgiveness?
Tate's fear of this man overrid his anger as he took Bates' hand and shook it. "Sure," he mumbled, his gaze lowered to the floor. It was obviously half-hearted, but Tate wasn't much of a liar.

"You're lying," Nayra told Karen plainly before looking over her shoulder and spotting the incoming Krystal. She met the girl with a warm smile and a welcome. "Are you kidding?" she said at the offer of more help. "We've got our favorite drinks in hand -" she motioned by raising her own cup of chilled milk, "- and we've found the cheesecake! What more could girls need?"
The blue-haired noblewoman leaned closer to Krystal, however, and whispered in her ear, "But if you could take a drink over to that boy standing around that table down there," she indicated by pointing toward Colin, "and tell him if he'd like someone to drink it with, he's welcome to come over here, I'd greatly appreciate it."

(I assume this is reffering to Mark? If I am wrong in this let me know and I shall modify accordingly)
Mark gave a nod as he removed his overcoat, handing it to the Butler.
"Good evening good sir, I do I hope I am not too late in my arrival." Mark said from behind the mask, though it covered his face completely, it was quite clear. His attitude seemed to offset the brooding nature of the mask he wore.
"I couldnt decide if I should show up with or without the mask on, so I flipped a coin on it. I hope it's dictation didnt fail." He explained in a friendly tone. He wanted to make friends, if he could do so, he could perhaps garner some information.

(Yes that'd be you Kainus. I'm sorry. I really have messed a lot of things up in here.)
Krystal looked at the female, giggling softly and nodded "I'd be happy to take it to him ma'am" She curtsied and reached for the cup.
The butler folded the man's coat over his arm, nodding. "You're not late at all, sir. And yes, you were right to wear a mask." He smiled politely and limped forward to close the door once the gentle man had entered the room.
Charlie patted Tate on the shoulder. "Oh, and Tate." The man leaned closer, inching his face down next to Tate's ear "I know you were planning to leave." A smirk formed on his lips "That isn't a wise decision, boy. Make any wrong moves, and I'll see to it personally that Krystal is cleaning your blood stains off the floor, are we clear?" He kept his voice incredibly low, making sure Tate would be the ONLY one to hear him.
