"Anywhere," the biker answered. "I don't like staying in one place for too long. It gets boring." But the sound of these bites had caught her attention, killing in an hour. "Can I see one of these cases, by any chance? I may have something to offer, after all."

"Sure" The woman began, she glanced down at Aeven's bike "You want to park that first?"

The biker nodded. "I'll meet you by the door." She slipped her helmet back on and pulled the bike on around out of sight.
A minute later, she came back around without the helmet or the bike. She was, indeed, shorter than Jessica, but the way she stood, the way she moved, she didn't reflect it. There was none of the insecurity or weakness short people tended to exude, and her body build, while proportional, also didn't have the air of a short person. Her white hair, unlike an African American, lacked any remote suggestion of frizz. It was silky and wavy. Her jacket had been taken off because of the warmth of San Francisco and it was folded over her arm, so that the nurse could see the woman's pale blue, almost white blouse, with its top couple of buttons shamelessly undone, fitting with the tight pants she wore. It was reasonable to assume, however, that she was even shorter than she appeared, as her boots seemed to have thick soles, more like platformers.
"Aeven," she introduced herself with a flawlessly perfect smile as she offered her hand to the nurse.

"Jessica." She said looking down at the woman and shaking her hand. "You're going to have to teach me how you do that with you're hair."
They walked inside and Jessica handed her child over to a friendly Nurse on the other side of the counter. She lead Aeven back down the hall and into a patients room. The patient was young, a teen who looked like he was headed to a party before he got stuck in the hospital. Right now he was unconcious and sweating profusely.
"He was bitten on the shoulder, he's already too far gone..." Jessica said to Aeven "Anything you recognize?"

Aeven moved toward the patient and muttered something under her breath that sounded like a foreign language that the nurse wouldn't recognize. After a moment of looking the boy up and down, she moved over to the shoulder, her delicate fingers reaching toward the bandages. "May I?"

She looked behind her and said "Ok, be careful though, I could get in trouble for this."
The Gash that lay below the "Rob Zombie" t-shirt was pretty bad, he had been bitten deeply, not only that but the assailant also tore what he bit out of the boy. Strangely though, the boy was not bleeding from thiss wound.

Aeven looked the wound over, but refrained from actually touching it before reapplying the bandage. She stepped back again as she looked down at the body, crossing her arms. "Well, been a long time since I've seen this before ..."

"What is it? I don't remember anything like this from when I was young." Jessica said.

"Well, I've been around a while longer than you have," she answered. "This hospital, does it have an incinerator?"

"Actually no" Jessica began "unless you count the huge furnace we use to keep the conference room warm. But why would we need it?"

"All the dead need to be incinerated immediately," Aeven answered. "Let the families spend their last moments with the ones still alive, but the moment they die, do the same to them. Anything less and a little ..." She lifted up the sheet from the end of the bed. "... African Rabies will be the least of your concerns. It's not until after they die that the disease really gets into the danger of spreading."

(Sure GB, do what you need to do!)
Jessica was shocked for a moment and said "That doesen't make any sense, how could a disease spread easier when it can't even go anywhere outside the corpse?"

"It's still maturing," the drow answered, deciding it was best not to be too descriptive. "While the host is alive, it only passes through bodily fluids, but when the host dies and the immune system is no longer there to stop it, it absolutely goes crazy."

Jessica almost couldn't believe what she was hearing, she was about to ask another question but the patient began flatlining. She moved towards Aeven and said "We have to step outside before a doctor finds us in here!" She quickly made a move towards the door, and cracked it, making sure no-one was coming, she moved outside, waiting for Aeven to follow suit.
