God, SOMEBODY!
It was like a cue.
God, SOMEBODY!
It echoed about the hollow skeleton of a building like a trumpet, a herald.
There was a flash of green energy. Momentarily, Lucubro might have thought someone else had arrived just in time, but instead, it was the girl, standing directly in the path of the stampeding man, as if summoned by Lucubro's outcry. Still, her expressionless face and lack of response seemed to indicate she would only get trampled.
But that green stone glowed sickly against her face as it floated before her, and if the Catcher continued on his present course, he'd run right into an invisible wall that would flash green on impact, like a bull running into a brick one.

And flash green it did, for the Catcher in his excitement did not notice 592's sudden appearance. He slammed into the the invisible wall with such force that he stumbled backwards, losing his balance and toppling to the ground with Lucubro, and then his horrible laughter stopped suddenly, cut off like an abrupt change to a radio station. He stared, bewildered for once, at the little girl who'd been responsible.
"...çfarë? Jak...?" Were his eventual words, nonsensical as they sounded. By the rapidly darkening look on his face it was evident he was not pleased. Ignoring Lucubro, likely convinced he was incapacitated and thus unworthy of attention, he rocked and then leapt to his feet with grace that belied such a large frame.
And then he growled.
The sound came from low in his throat, a vibrating, guttural noise. It was reminiscent of the sound a stalking tiger might make, that is, if the tiger was in an echoing metal room surrounded by sound distorters--in otherwords, different. Distanced as he was from Damein, the druggy dropped whatever he'd been holding and went pale the moment it escaped the Catcher's lips, his eyes widening and hands moving to his ears.
"Oh shit!" There came a panicked look on his face and he grabbed his pilfered paper bags, scrambling backwards. "Ohhhh, shit oh shit oh shit! Fuck!" He'd heard a growl like that before, oh yes he had! Sometimes after taking his hits, sometimes, instead of seeing that girl he would see something else. Hear something else. And that something was absolutely terrifying. It had driven him screaming, once, screaming to his provider to make it stop, but the man had only looked at him like he was crazy and turned him away. To think that he was hearing it now, when he hadn't yet had even a pinch of his stuff? Hell yes, he had reason to be afraid!
Of course to everyone else he would look as crazy as his provider had thought him, that once. He didn't particularly care about that, wasn't even thinking of the others in the room, but with the Catcher just standing there growling it would seem a little odd.
(Catcher Speak: "...what? How...?")

The child's response was simply to stand there, staring at him with those big eyes, completely unmoved. She blinked, but that was the extent of her movement. Despite the noise coming from his throat, she gave no response, though oddly, the stone around her neck glimmered in time with the growl, as if attempting to synchronize itself with it.

Lucubro lay where he'd fallen, curled up around his broken hands, his teeth locked together again. "Commander would go insane," He hissed to his comrade, "If she saw us like this..."
Rush squinted at him, glaring over the blackening skin around her nose. "You jus' shud up."
