It was a bit of a cool day in the country of Casnuler. The clouds in the sky partially obscured the sun as playful gusts flew through the mountainside. A young girl, only at the ripe age of 143 sat in her backyard, watching another girl training with a pair of blades.
“What do you call those weapons again, Celara?” the younger of the two girls asked.
“A reverse-bladed double short sword, Skye,” Celara replied. (thank you Ninmast for helping me with that)
“It looks complicated, sis,” Skye replied.
“It is, and they’re very rare... their users even rarer,” Celara replied with a bit of pride.
“You know, mother will scold you again if you skip working on your spells again,” the younger sister said in a teasing tone.
“Practice spells this, practice spells that. I don’t care as much for magic as everyone else. I want to become a powerful wielder of these weapons so I can battle those Anrevents on their own home territory and better protect us from them,” Celara replied.
“But your healing spells could—“ Skye began.
“Healing is your job,” Celara replied firmly with a hint of a “cease conversation” in her tone. Sighing, Skye sat there, practicing her healing magic on whatever she could.
“You’re almost 180,” Skye said absentmindedly.
“Skye Seleqi, you do not need to remind me of my age!” Celara replied sharply.
“… sorry sis. I’m just worried you will not be able to get a job if you continue like this,” Skye replied.
“You’ll see. I’ll be a great warrior one of these days,” Celara replied.
“… Celara Bateles… sometimes I wonder… who is the more mature of the both of us,” Skye sighed aloud. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* It was a cold day in a certain part in the country of Shervorn. It was to be expected, considering the neighboring country, Eremeki, was holding a competition among their mages. It was a friendly competition to see who was the best in the country. It has been well known that the ice mages have always been the best in battle out of all. Their fiercely frigid spells always extinguished the fiery flame spells that their opponents would cast. There was always a healthy and friendly rivalry between the fire magic users and the ice magic users from that country.
Sitting outside in the slightly cold weather was a girl by the name of Krystal Christina. She lay there absentmindedly staring at the clouds in the sky. Being a master of defensive magic, she started toying around and creating spells of her own. One of her spells involves transforming herself into a storm cloud for short periods of time.
She got tired of practicing her new spell, the ability to transform any piece of clothing to the hardness of a diamond while retaining its original weight. Kat, as her friends called her, was always immersed in the clouds in the sky and intrigued at their various shapes. Abstract yet could take any form it desired. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* (just post your characters doing what they do on an average day… feel free to converse a bit with NPC’s if you wish... I'll forward the plot when everyone has their intro posts done)

*Casnuler*
"Come one, come all," a girl's voice announced. "Gather around! She sparks, she glitters, she dazzles! For just a few pieces of your coin, you can see the one, the only, Lady Fventes, Street Performer Extraordinaire!" She was standing on a raised rock speaking through a tube that widened the further it got from her. "Five silver! Just five silver is all you need to take a step into wonder, amazement and magic not seen anywhere in this land!"

*Casnuler* "Hey, Skye, you hear that?" Celara asked her younger sister.
"Yeah, sounds like someone is offering a show for just five silver," Skye replied.
"Let's go!" Celara suggested.
"But I'm not finished with practicing this spell! You haven't even STARTED your--"
"Later, later! I want to see the show!" Celara interrupted.
"... fine," Skye said with a sigh. "If mother scolds us..."
"Yeah, yeah, I'll take the blame. I take it anyway," Celara stated.
"Because you're supposed to be older," Skye remarked smartly.
Without another exchange of words, the two arrived at the announcement. They looked at each other and both pulled out five pieces of silver.

*Shervorn* (Sorry for so much conversations) Rounding a corner of a building to where a bridge was with the creek just barely below it a tall slender late teenager hops up and over the edge, his messy blond hair following closely behind.
Cover, he thinks his magic protecting him from the shock of the fall and the water splashing as he crashed into its shallow waters.
From underneath the bridge, an identical of him steps toward his twin brother and says with an obviously joking tone, "As a 173-year-old, you'd think would have learned how to jump off a low bridge without using magic to help your landing, Ryo."
"Well, Deivet, I find protection magic just to useful to give up," the man says with a smile on his face, before shifting his weight a little to the left foot. "I still don't understand how you live without magic, though the potions help, I guess."
"Technology, its great - you should use more of it."
"You should use more magic, then," Ryo says, not helping a laugh.
"Why though? To be normal? Plus I've seen you practicing with other people - how your magic can shut down magic in a small area for quite a while," Deivet's green eyes staring at his brother, used to this conversation.
"What does my anti-magic fields have to with it?"
"What happens if some similar effect happens?"
"Apocalypse - I know, but it'd never happen!" The youngest twin argues with is brother.
"I think that may be what makes Anrevents - the one's I've met before believe that magic will get shut down; and some of your magic proves it can happen," the eldest says, this conversation becoming more or less an informal greeting between the two.
"But still... Oh! Aren't we supposed to go see we can find another job for you to do?"
"Yeah, it's been getting quiet there again and its getting boring," the Anvrevent twin says.
"Why won't you ever let me see where you live?"
"I can't because," he says before his twin interrupts, "because, its a safety hazard if non-anrevents know where it is, I know."

"Five silver, five silver," a girl older than Skye but younger than Celara called to the gathering crowds as she held out a cup for them to drop it into before ushering them on in. She wore a very ornate outfit with fluffy, poofed arms and sleeve ends like flowers. "Five silver, don't forget to pay your five silver!" It seemed she was in charge of collecting the dues for the performance.

(Luke, now a captain in the Shervon military, is on a tour of the other four countries. His first stop is Casnuler because he wishes to view the countries most like defense first.)
*Casnuler*
As Luke walks down the and road notices the street performer talking about magic not seen anywere else. Intrigued Luke decides to see what the commotion is all about. As he approaches the tent he says, "Here you go miss." as he drops his five silver into the cup and as he starts to enter he thinks "I wonder what kind of magic this could be?"

"Thank you, handsome!" she answered cheerfully before turning to the next person and resuming her litany of, "Five silver! Five silver! Just five silver!"

*Shervorn* A group soldiers were marching nearby, doing a regular patrol near the area of Ryo. They talked to each other in somewhat loud tones, easily heard and careless on their part.
*Casnuler* Skye and Celara both put in their five silver pieces and stood there.
"I think this show will be great," Celara said with anticipation clear in her voice.
"Yes, sis. If you believe so," Skye said with a sigh. There went part of her allowance.

"Please," the girl encouraged, "join the rest of the people within the tent." She motioned to the flap the rest had passed through.
When everyone had paid their five silver and taken a seat - leaving her a very comfortable amount wealthier for a single show despite the small amount per person - she moved over to the stage, though some people might have begun wondering where the mage was. However, she spread her arms wide, the large container held firmly in one. "Are you all ready to see some magic?" At the enthusiastic response from the crowd, she beamed. "Alright, just let me put your ticket payments away in a safe place!"
So saying, she promptly turned the container up and seemed to begin to drink the coins away. Down, down the hatch they went, every last copper, until she finally wiped her mouth with the back of her hand as if having just enjoyed a delicious glass of milk. "Yummy!"

(You're in a crowd that are all watching her, Terethin, not one-on-one.)

*Shervorn* Deivet hearing the noise of the soldiers, says quietly, "Soldiers - loud ones too, don't you agree?"
"Yeah, want to see what they are doing?" Ryo asks, knowing full well his twin's answer as Ryo had already turned to climb up the edge of the creek.
Deivet laughs, racing his twin up and out of the creek, easily beating his twin to the ledge above the creek. Helping his brother with the last little bit by pulling him up, the two run towards where they had last heard the soldiers - Deivet leading because of his advantage in speed.
"Which way did they go?" Ryo asks, not sure of which way to head find the soldiers - though Deivet was equally unsure.
"Beats me."

(Sorry about the late update. Weekends and Mondays are always hectic for me. Also, GB, I'll tell you in a PM or MSN when to come in since your character is a bit different in role from the others at first. We'll discuss where you can come in.) *Shervorn* As the twins approached the soldiers, the were able to hear the conversation going on.
"I can't believe those bandits would dare attack in this area," one of the guards said.
"It seems a bit weird considering how far away from the shore they are," another guard said.
"I'd rather fight those mercenaries than the bandits any day. I hear those still capturing people as prisoners to recruit them, willingly or not," the first guard said.
"At least those mercenaries have some sense of honor," the other guard said in agreement.
"Wh-what was that sound?" the first guard said as he looked toward a place that the twins weren't. A lone person stopped in the path in front of the guards.
"Well, what have I found here? Two Shervorn guards to protect the nearby town!" the man said in a somewhat gruff voice.
"What is your business here," the first guard said.
"Why, to plunder, pillage, steal, take what we want. Then we'll recruit members into our happy little group. Finally, we'll leave here," the man said.
"We? But you're alone!" the guard said.
"Not quite," the man said. He whistled and at least twenty bandits appeared there, surrounding the guards.
"Boss," one of them said.
"Yeah?" the man replied.
"There's two lads hiding nearby, listening to the whole thing," the man reported.
"... then go after them. The more we recruit, the merrier we are!" the boss replied. At that, half of the men followed the guy who reported the twins to where they were, with the full intention to capture them forcefully.
*Casnuler* Celara laughed and said, "Spectacular! Amazing!"
"Sis, you're too easily amused. Can't you see what she's doing?" Skye asked.
"Yeah, she's using her magic in creative ways! C'mon sis! Open your eyes and enjoy the show," Celara said.
"General Ilrery wouldn't be amused by this," Skye said, knowing this would touch a nerve.
"... why do you have to bring that up," Celara said while pouting.
"Oh, nooothing," Skye said, this time with a hint of a teasing smile. "I only read your journal."
"That's a private journal," Celara said with a tinge of red on her cheeks.
"It isn't private when you leave it wide open for everyone to read, sitting on the kitchen table," Skye countered.
"Just... watch the show," Celara said in a quiet voice, her face flushing red.
"So, interested in his swordsmanship?" Skye said tauntingly, getting the upper hand with her sister.
"Yeah... I am," Celara replied in a small voice.
"Which sword are YOU interested in," Skye said mockingly.
"Just. Watch. The. Show." Celara replied pointedly, while waiting for the feat of magic to appear.

The young woman on stage bowed to the response of the audience before chucking the container away. The show that followed was all sorts of things, but rarely dull. Fireballs spun into existence from nowhere, smoke sprung up from around her feet, fading only to reveal someone else who she had apparently changed into, only for the person to create a flash of light so bright it blinded the audience for a moment, leaving her before them again when the glare had faded.
On and on the tricks went for nearly fifteen minutes before the girl, who none could doubt was not just the girl collecting entry fees like she had first seemed, finally seemed to be drawing to a close. "So," she called out to the audience, "have I been worth your five silver so far?"

(Luke is a captain in the Shervon army. So he has a sword and shield, just so everyone knows.)
Luke, amazed at the this unique way of using magic cheers for the performance. As the woman takes the stage and asks if they enjoyed the show he yells, "Absolutely!"
