Amelia watched him go with a curious expression on her face, waiting until after he left to say, "That will be interesting to see ..."
A waitress who came up to collect Luke's discarded cup spoke up. "What, how he'll call you without your number?"
But the girl shook her head. "No, how he'll do much of anything with a Grande hot tea slushing around in his stomach." She sighed and took another deep drink from her coffee, not nearly as much as Luke, just one last drink for the road, before handing it to the woman with a tip. "I should probably go help ..."

Not ten minutes later, as that was all the time it took for Amelia to find ground zero, she also found a scene that probably wasn't that out of the ordinary.
There was a twenty foot beast in the middle of a street devoid of traffic and mostly abandoned by civilians. The monster had a shining, well bespiked back to her, swatting with knotted chrome talons at black shapes that burst from nowhere and vanished again. It was easily comparable to a lanky Bowser-vulture mix, if the girl had any pop culture experience.
She'd likely predicted it, the man ogling her fingers in the coffee house was the same that was fighting this sudden intrusion on normallacy, though now, "Luke" didn't resemble himself in the least.
A lucky blow tossed the black-and-navy blotched witch through a window, and the monster turned away, intending to go on about its business. Then it laid a bird eye on Amelia and changed its mind, suddenly breaking into a full-on dash for the girl.

From an unseen source, she drew a jeweled blade and jumped up toward the charging abomination. The cutting rapier was drawn back in her right for a stab at its forehead, but in her left hand, yellow energy was gathering. Before she reached it, she thrust that left hand forward, sending out a burst of forked lightning that arced its way over in an attempt to strike the monster between the eyes.

"BHRRRRRR!" The monstrosity squawked, its blue eyes watering, but the strike didn't seem to have any other effect on the beast. It aimed a swipe at Amelia with one hefty chrome-taloned hand.

The swing sent the comparatively small girl flying sideways through another window close to where Lucubro had gone through. Inside, the girl groaned as she pushed herself up. It actually hadn't hurt on the outside, though her insides were feeling rather insulted. "That ... probably wasn't the brightest thing I've ever done ..."
