December 23, Mid-afternoon, Central Park, New York NY...
A light snow was blanketing the city, had been since early morning. For the last hour a girl had been standing in the middle of Central Park doing nothing but staring at the ground infront of her. She definately drew some attention due to the rather unusual clothes she wore and didn't seem to even notice the temperature was near zero. People went on about their business either way. Couples enjoying a stroll through the park, parents walking by with their kids, a snowball fight going on nearby between a bunch of children enjoying the winter vacation. A poorly aimed snowball suddenly collided with the girl's face now. It emitted absolutely no response from the girl, she didn't even blink if one had been paying attention. A couple of the children laughed while the one who had thrown the snowball ran up to her with a nervous look. "Um, sorry bout that. Was an accident, I swear," the boy spoke in what was clearly a practiced tone. Not a hint of acknowledgement from the girl as she continued to merely stare, unblinkingly, at the ground. The boy poked her leg once, then once more and with a bit of a confused look, asked "Hey, you listening?" Not getting a response still, the boy shrugged and turned to run off, back to his friends who had continued their snowball fight without him. A hand suddenly landed atop the boy's head, halting his retreat. "Hey! Lemme go! I didn't do nothin' wrong." She didn't let him go and instead lifted the boy off the ground with her iron grip on his head. His legs flailing in the air helplessly, he started yelling for help, sounding on the verge of tears. People started turning their attention to the girl now, noticing what was going on. Some just stood back and looked on while others shouted at the girl to let go of the boy. The boy was crying now, desperately trying to get the hand grasping his head to drop him to no avail. His mother came running up now, yelling furiously at her and making an attempt to release her boy from her grasp. The woman suddenly reared back and punched the girl in the face only, to her suprise, stumble back a step and grasp a now broken hand in pain. To those actually paying attention in the now crowd of people watching this spectacle, slight wisps of smoke had begun to rise from the girl's hand, more specifically it was actually coming from the little boy's head. A minute of angry yelling and annoying crying later, anyone who had even thought of going to aid the boy now had completely given up on that idea. The reason for was that what had started as barely noticeable wisps of smoke had turned into what could only be described as the boy being slowly burned alive from an invisible flame. Very noticable black smoke had begun to rise off of the boy and burns started to appear on his face, the only part of his flesh visible. The boy was twitching every few seconds now, his mouth hung open in a silent shriek, his eyes had rolled back in his head. The mother wasn't making any more attempts to rescue her child. This was because she had just had her face smashed in by the girl's free hand and now appeared dead, staining the snow red with her blood. The surrounding people had finally decided to get quite some distance from her now. This helped for the cops who had just arrived at the scene as there was no longer a thick crowd to wade through. The process on the boy had suddenly jumped ahead by the time the cops approached, weapons raised and curses being exclaimed. The boy was severely burned now, practically charred to the bone and obviously dead. The body suddenly disconnected from the neck and fell to the snow-covered ground, leaving just a seriously charred and barely recognizable head in the girl's hand. The pair of cops shouted at her the usual 'hands behind your head' and slowly approached with their guns aimed at her. She slowly turned her head to look at them as they came near, staring at them with blank and lifeless eyes, and crushed the charred head in her hand into ashes. This caused one of the cops to flinch and he fired off an accidental shot, one that was just short of grazing her cheek. A sickly green glow suddenly engulfed her raised right hand, the same one she had been holding her captive with just a minute ago. She jumped at the one who had just shot at her, catching him off-guard, and threw a punch with such force that it went clean through his chest, spraying blood everywhere. The other cop now started firing at her with fear in her eyes. His fear escalated as each shot was completely ignored by her, it wasn't piercing her skin nor did it even leave a mark at all. The girl pulled her arm out of the now dead cop as the other one emptied his clip in a vain attempt to stop her. He turned to flee, but was stopped immediately as the glowing hand of the girl suddenly erupted from his neck instantly killing him. The second cop fell to the blood covered snow just as almost a dozen police cars had arrived, a little too late.
Meanwhile...
Same day, same time, Liberty Island, New York NY...
Standing atop the Statue of Liberty's head, a silver-haired guy in a black trench coat that fluttered a bit in a slight breeze, looked out across the city surrounding him from his perch. He had a pretty bored look on his face as he observed from his impractical observation point. Without warning, a loud voice suddenly started yelling into his ear. He casually reached up and pulled the headset from his ear and held it at arms length until the voice died down. Replacing it once it did, he answered the voice in a bored tone, "Did you need something, Katherine?" Far below him, on the ground, a rather pissed off purple-haired girl was holding another headset in her hand. "The hell I need something! What the hell's taking you so damn long to locate it? You've been sitting up there wasting our time for hours! Are you enjoying yourself dammit!?". Another, much smaller girl also sporting purple hair who was playing in the snow next to Katherine spoke up first. "Give him a break sis, you know Zieg. He totally has a 'thing' (she emphasizes the word with her hands and her tone) for snow. Maybe he really is, as you said, 'enjoying' himself!" The smaller girl giggles cutely, covering her mouth with her hands, and falls back in the snow. Katherine gave an annoyed huff at the girl and spoke again into the headset, "Well?". Back on top of the Statue, Zieg simply ignored the girl's obviously perverted comment and gave a sigh. "No, I've not noticed anything yet. But we know for a fact that it's somewhere in this city. It won't be able to go unnoticed for much longer, that's just how it is." Katherine threw the headset at the ground after hearing that from Zieg. Sure that was obvious, it should show itself eventually. But why'd it have to take so damn long. The smaller girl got up and picked the headset up off the ground and handed it back to Katherine. "Don't break it, be more careful with this stuff. It's troublesome how many you've broken already". Katherine looked down at her and grabbed the headset, pocketing it. "Whatever, just shutup and act cute Katerina...". "Haha, yes mam. That's my specialty," Katerina responded as she blew a kiss and gave a wink.
A couple minutes passed by and nothing had yet happened for Zieg to see. But then something did happen. A large, greenish light suddenly lit up and was instantly followed by a powerful explosion. Several more went off in the same area, he counted five so far. "Katherine! Katerina! It's shown itself. I'm not sure...if I remember correctly from the map, that should be...Central Park". Down below, the two girls now jumped to attention at hearing this. "Finally bout damn time! Get down here and get us across this damn river, now! Before it dissapears again!". Zieg did just that, jumping from the top of the Statue of Liberty and fell towards the ground. A column of snow came up and met him, catching him and bringing him the rest of the way to the ground. The trio ran towards the north side of the island and upon reaching there, jumped into the water. The water came up to meet them, being frozen over instantly and creating a very solid bridge. Zieg led the way, continuing the ice bridge for them. "Damn river's too big," Katherine said under her breath as they ran.
Back at Central Park...
What had been just a calm snowy day had quickly turned to mayhem in only a matter of minutes. The girl had literally torn through many of the policemen's bodies, drenching the snow in so much blood and littering it with various pieces of bodies. As the girl had yet to leave the general area, the remaining police had opted to stay far back until more proper backup arrived. Four police cars and a tree had been almost entirely obliterated, the tree actually had been obliterated completely, in those explosions caused by the girl. Blood dripped from that hand that continued to glow a sickly greenish color and the front of her dress was heavily drenched in it as well. Through this entire thing she had remained staring with those unblinking, lifeless eyes...
