Oh man ... I am so sorry I didn't get here sooner ... Subtle knows nothing of what he's talking about and he led you completely wrong, and now you have something incredibly lousy that you never should've gotten ... Acer laptops? Wow, what a mistake. And you never, never, never, never, NEVER should've gotten Vista.
Laptops aren't as frequently overpriced and unmaintainable as Subtle claims, neither is spyware that hard to get off. Those are very common misconceptions (and ones that get us computer repair people a lot of business, by the way).
You should've gone through M-Tech Laptops. It's the best and least expensive laptops you can get, and you can even call them and get them to help you pick the one that's right for you WITHOUT TRYING TO SELL YOU STUFF!!! And before someone cynical comes on and says yeah right, it's because they don't get a commission. They don't get anything for trying to sell you more than what you need, and they only lose your trust. I've dealt with them before, and they're very kind and understanding.
Dual cores in laptops? You poor souls haven't heard of that? Another misconception. Anything that you can get in a desktop, you can get in a laptop for only a little more. Shoot, my desktop's a dual core, and my laptop's a Core 2 Duo (that's four processors for those of you who don't know) for roughly the same price. A little less, actually.
So again, sorry I didn't get here sooner so I could have saved you from such incredibly faulty advice.
EDIT: Here's the information on my laptop so you guys can see it. This is the invoice, so you can even see the prices. Please note, I paid roughly $1600 for my desktop.
