Lastly, El Wray has a necklace pendant of a little dragon cuddling the handle of a sword; the fabric lace goes through the hilt of the sword which is pointing blade down (Note: the sword pendant is not sharp).
Personality: Calm, slightly cocky at time, wise ass, observative, plotter, and violent when angered.
History: El Wray grew up in the middle of no where in a town of less than 1000 people and had only an elementary school, meaning all the high school student had to drive for half an hour to an hour to get to the next town that had one. The town was peaceful and the only crimes going on there were juvenile crimes. El Wray’s father was the town’s sheriff. That being so, El Wray grew up learning the ways of right and wrong from birth. El Wray had two best friends Mair and Naoko, who happened to be his neighbors on both sides of him. Naoko was Japanese and one year younger than El Wray while Mair was an Irish American and 2 years younger than El Wray. El Wray had been friends with the two since he was 6 years old. The two girls always treated El Wray like an older brother and often trick him into doing stupid things. Mair and Naoko were often secretive with each other and as they got older started to drift away from El Wray. When Mair turned 13 El Wray found out the two girls secret, Mair and Naoko had super powers. Amazed at first, El Wray found it interesting but soon lost interest since there was no use for the powers. Half the crimes in their town could be taken down by El Wray alone. As the years went on the two girls had found out about the United States of America Hero League. At the time the league was just forming and had an intelligent requirement for any of its younger heroes. Naoko managed to make the requirement and at the age of 15, left El Wray and Mair. The next year Mair left El Wray to join the league. El Wray was upset about being left behind. He didn’t have anything that could be of use to the league.
When El Wray turned 18 he met a rich uncle who was willing to pay for El Wray to go to college to learn Law Enforcement and get a degree. However El Wray had different plans. While touring through his uncle’s mansion he found a bunch of strange looking sword. Two of which caught his eye the sword of strength and the sword of fire. Both of which were in a display case along with other swords. His uncle told him that it was believe that these swords would give magical powers to whoever held them. However, El Wray’s uncle never attempted to use their powers since he was only interested in money. El Wray got his uncle opened up the display case and El Wray grabbed onto the sword of strength. It felt light, as if the sword weighted almost nothing. He held the sword in his right hand as he reached for the sword of fire. His uncle told him that he would not be able to pick up the sword of fire up with one hand but strangle, he found himself holding the sword with the same amount of ease as the sword of strength. It was at this time that El Wray started to hear a voice. The voice kept saying “take the swords, but also take the sword of ice”. He found it odd, yet in truth he wanted to take the swords. No one else was in the room except his uncle, and his uncle didn’t want El Wray to take the swords as he soon found out. After he put the swords back, the voice continued to talk to him. “Take the swords. Become a hero. Save the world. With the swords you can do a lot of good and defeat evil.” The voice didn’t seem to go away and finally when El Wray laid down to go to sleep, in his uncle’s house, he finally responded to the voice. “Why do you want me to take the swords?” The voice paused for a moment and then answered him. “Because I know you will use the swords.” El Wray opened his eyes and turned around to see a little dragon hovering next to him. It was at this time he met Chopper, the dragon guardian of the swords of Fire and Ice. Chopper explained to him about the swords and how if El Wray used the swords, he’d have something to do.
El Wray then stole the swords from his uncle and with the help of Chopper, started to learn how to use them. Chopper had been planning on someone to come along and steal the swords from El Wray’s uncle. Since then Chopper, knowing everything there is to know about the swords, uploaded a detailed schematic to a sword catalog which then built copies of the swords and even managed to send some to Chopper. El Wray simply replaced the fake ones with the real ones and his uncle was none the wiser. After one semester of college, all the while training with the swords, El Wray managed to sign up with the Government Hero League of America. People who join the league have a minimum training period of 3 months depending oh skills, past freelance hero work, and judgment abilities. El Wray was 1 month in before he got his first assignment as a probationary member. Although he wasn’t that far into training and his skills were yet to be fully assessed, another hero with a lot of connections got him temporally assigned to her to assist in the investigation of another missing hero member.
El Wray’s old friend Mair had been missing for a half a year and El Wray’s other old friend Naoko was in charge of the investigation. Being apart from the two for so long, El Wray was brought up to speed quickly and within the first week he had several leads. Although only one of them wasn’t shot down, it was the one that had revealed an actual suspect in her disappearance. This suspect then pointed to another and the next pointed to another and within a month, El Wray and Naoko had found their friend. However the truth was Mair was no longer one of the “good guys”. Something happened to Mair that caused her to turn but before anyone could figure it out Mair kidnapped Naoko. With Naoko, El Wray was going to be under investigation and taken off the chase. Against orders and after knocking out 6 other Hero League member, El Wray went after Mair all on his own. Within 24 hours he had managed to find where Mair was holding Naoko. El Wray was too late though; Naoko was beaten and tortured until she was brain dead. In an act of sympathy, El Wray pulled a gun and killed Naoko. Mair revealed herself shortly after this and was soon killed by El Wray. The Hero league showed up and did an investigation of the whole place. El Wray was cleared and was put back into the training program. Since finishing the program El Wray has been unassigned to any permanent position and often gets sent out of crappy mission. Ever since he killed Mair, El Wray doesn’t carry around a gun.
Natural Powers: None, not counting the ability to summon his 3 swords and the fact he hides them in a small magic pocket dimension within the tattoos on his body.
Chopper: Whenever Chopper is within close proximity (Within 6 ft of him) of El Wray, El Wray has a large resistance to magical spells from attacks to curses.
Skills:
Both hands: El Wray is both right and left handed.
Crack shot: El Wray is a scary good with a firearm. He is able to shoot like a marksman while in motion.
Lock picking: El Wray can pick almost any lock with just a paper clip. However he carries around a lock pick kit with him at all times, even though it’s against the law.
Weapons/equipment:
Sword of Strength (Odin): This is a strange looking two handed double bladed broadsword with a big Medusa head hilt with medium length blade.
Sword of Fire (Loki): This is a long length one handed one bladed sword with a hilt that comes out and over the hand on the blade side and a kind of half arrow on the blade side, on the last foot of length on the blade. The sword is NOT made of fire. Yet the metal of the sword has an odd yellowish orange color.
Sword of Ice (Skadi): This is another strange sword that looks the same as the sword of fire except for a light blue metal. The sword is NOT made of ice.
Steel Handcuff: El Wray carries two pairs of police standard issue steel handcuffs. Each one place behind his right and left hip in a handcuff holster.
Collapsible baton: El Wray carries a collapsible police baton in a holster on the center of his back on his belt.
Pepper spray: El Wray carries a bottle of pepper spray on his right hip.
Flash light: El Wray has a small belt size black flash light on his left hip
Butterfly knives: El Wray carries two folded butterfly knives in the front of his belt on holsters.
Lock pick kit: El Wray hides a small lock pick kit in a hidden pocket on the inside of his pants around his back waist ban.
Object powers:
Sword of Strength (Odin): When Odin is summoned and kept within close presences of El Wray, he gains super strength. Enough super strength to lift 5 tons with ease and 10 tons maximum. This strength also goes to his body, making him take less damage than your average human. The Medusa head hilt can be activated to turn into a sheath for the blade as well as a strap for the user.
Sword of Fire (Loki): When Loki is summoned; El Wray has the power to control fire. The sword itself can create fire by lighting itself on fire, after which El Wray can go to work creating fire based attacks. Such as using it as a flame throwers, shooting fire balls, and absorbing fire. As long as the sword is in the presences of El Wray (summoned or not) he is immune to damage from fire.
Sword of Ice (Skadi): When Skadi is summoned El Wray has the power to freeze things. The blade can emit a beam that will start to freeze whatever it touches(Ice Beam). Skadi can also freeze the water in the air around the blade of the sword, creating a real bigger blade of ice around the sword (ice blade). Lastly the sword can flash freeze a medium sized room instantly turning the room into a meat locker or freezer. This move only works indoors and will cause everyone in the room to fall down except the user. As long as the sword is in the presences of El Wray (summoned or not) he is immune to cold based attacks.
Odin, Loki, and Skadi combined: All three swords can combine to make one really big sword. The sword of Strength is the handle and hilt while Loki and Skadi are the blades. The blade actually extend while combined, making the sword have a 5 ft blade. When all 3 swords are combined they give the user all of the power above.
Weaknesses: Without the Swords, El Wray is powerless. Without Chopper, he can’t summon or use the powers of the swords of Ice and Fire. However if he hasn’t summoned them yet, he still keeps his protection from fire and cold.
Relationships:
Mahoro (Mink): El Wray and Mahoro met each other when they were in training for the hero league. Mahoro and El Wray became somewhat of friends when El Wray was assigned to help Mahoro with her case reports and general paper work, something El Wray excelled at. These study session and lunch were about all the time the two spent with each other as friends. Later and after the two had graduated training, Mahoro was assigned in a team leader position in a city that didn’t have a lot of super hero needed crime. Mahoro ended up being in charge of one person, El Wray, the only other super hero in the city. It was during a mission in which a group of highly trained and heavily armed individuals decided to rob a bank that Mahoro ended up experiencing her first kiss. As the bank was being robbed, some of the robbers engaged in a massive shoot out with the police. El Wray made it to the scene before Mahoro and instead of rushing in and setting the place a blaze; he watched the robbers’ tactics and helped put out fires caused by rockets and grenades. Once Mahoro made it there, she didn’t waste time and made a “B” line for the bank. Mahoro was then hit with a 40mm stun grenade square in the chest which knocked her out. El Wray rushed in and carried Mahoro out of the area. Mahoro’s vitals had dropped to a point where it seemed as though her heart had stopped and she stopped breathing. Without hesitation El Wray started CPR on Mahoro. Mahoro soon awoke to El Wray breathing air into her lungs. Instead of being repulsed, Mahoro found it to be romantic and started to French kiss El Wray and pull him in closer. El Wray on the other hand was shocked by this and quickly pulled away from Mahoro. Deciding to let it pass as gratefulness for saving her life, El Wray left to help apprehend the bank robbers. Mahoro on the other hand fell deeply in love with El Wray, even after a picture of her with her arms around El Wray and kissing him was shown in the paper the next day with the title of “Making out on the job” with a sub heading of “Just what are the Hero League doing in our city?”. El Wray continued to brush the kiss off as love blinded by false pretences and that were caused by Mahoro almost dieing. However, Mahoro became somewhat stalker like obsessed with El Wray. Mahoro went as far as to use magical spells to give her some kind of advantage that El Wray would be interested in her. El Wray on the other hand only gave off the impression that she was just his teammate and nothing more. In truth, El Wray was staying away from her due to the fact she was still considered a minor at the time. Before long, Mahoro was transferred while El Wray continued to work in that city. Mahoro still has feelings for El Wray and wants to work with him in hopes that he will eventually see past her as a teammate. El Wray has not forgotten about Mahoro but has stuck to the belief that Mahoro’s feelings are false and that she is just not thinking straight. However, El Wray has thought about asking Mahoro out on a date to see if he is wrong or to simply help Mahoro get over her crush.
Kasumi (White Shinobi): Kasumi and El Wray have a troubled working relationship. It all started back when Kasumi was out on the road trying to hunt down an assassin when she was contacted by the Hero League she worked for. The League ordered her to investigate reports of a large robot robbing banks all across Utah. Knowing that Kasumi’s powers and skills would not be up to the task of taking down the robot, the hero league sent the Modern Swordsmen, otherwise known as El Wray, to support her. During their investigation, Kasumi ran into the assassin she was trying to hunt down. Ignoring her orders and primary mission to stop the robot, she decided to go after the assassin. El Wray was left on his own to stop the massive robot that was approximately the size of a light armored vehicle. The robot attacked an armored car and stole the money out of it. El Wray was quick to make the scene where he encountered the robot. Kasumi on the other hand was chasing the assassin in another part of the city. A rather epic battle ensued between El Wray and the robot. Having read “How to Survive a Robot Uprising” El Wray knew how to disable the robot in a general “attack here first” way. After an hour or so of fighting the robot, El Wray had managed to stop the robot and reveal that it was not in fact a robot but a mech (Expensive tank with legs) piloted by a human being. The human inside was your average pencil neck mad scientist gone criminal to fund his experiments and prove that they work. El Wray was quick to arrest him and place him in the custody of the FBI. Kasumi on the other hand had lost track of her assassin and was unable to apprehend him. Having ignored her orders and leaving El Wray to fight the mad scientist in the mech alone, she was demoted and ordered to report to an assigned city. El Wray was pissed off at Kasumi for not following her orders. Because Kasumi wasn’t there to help, El Wray ended up injured with 3 cracked ribs, a sprained right foot, and many cuts and gashes all over his body. On top of that, El Wray received a lecture from the higher ups for going at it alone against the mech. Kasumi blamed El Wray for all her troubles and has since continued to think he was “bad apple” in the Hero League. El Wray on the other hand believed that Kasumi was just “too hot headed” and was going to get someone killed one of these days. While Kasumi has later rethought of her actions taken on that day and has since forgiven El Wray, she has never gotten along with him on a personal level. El Wray has for the most part forgotten about Kasumi and would forgive her for her actions if he was ever to run into her again. The one thing Kasumi does not know about that day was that the assassin and El Wray had a conversation and made a deal. This deal was to save the life of Kasumi and the rest of the citizens of the city. Unknown to El Wray was that this assassin had no plans to kill Kasumi because he still had lingering feelings for her.
Side kick/partner/The Real Boss: Chopper
Name: Chopper
Age: 108 (Young for his kind of Dragon)
Gender: Male
Race: Dragon
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Power Level: Mid Tier Medium
Timeline: Any
Eye color: Blood Red
Appearance: Chopper has many forms and can look like many different kind of dragons, but his true form is little, fat bodied, a head equal to the size of his body, small neck, green dragon with red spinal scales, 2 arms with 4 fingered/claws hands, 2 little horns on its head, 2 legs, wings, and a long tail. To anyone who goes to Gaia still, he looks like a Gwee.
Info: Chopper is the guardian of the swords of fire and ice. Without him being awake, the swords powers won’t work. Chopper is more of a support character to El Wray. Most often he is the one bossing El Wray around. However Chopper likes El Wray since he’s actually using the swords instead of using them just as an art display like their last owner. Chopper is actually the little dragon on El Wray pendant, just shrunk down and blending in with the color of the pendant. This is so he can go anywhere with El Wray without having to stay hidden. However he proves difficult to date with since he will often try to give El Wray advice on women, which is often odd since all his advice comes from Teen Movies. Choppers job is simple; keep the swords from being used by evil people. However, Chopper was assigned to guard these swords 58 years ago and has since been bored since the past owners never used the swords.
Powers:
Shape shifting: Chopper can change the size of his body down to an inch to as big as an F-16, just with longer wings. He can also expand only certain parts of his body, such as his wings while keeping a small body. However he can’t stay changed for more than 2 hours.
Natural Camouflage: Chopper has the ability to change his skin color to blend to any object he is touching. However the effect only works while he is not moving.
Mind reading: If Chopper grabs onto someone, he can read their mind and get reception from all their senses (Meaning he’ll see what you see. Smell what you smell. Hear what you hear.).
Flamethrower: Shoots fire from his mouth. Range depends on the size of his body at the time.
Ice breath: Shoots ice/frost/cold air out of his mouth. Range depends on the size of his body at the time.
Strength: Chopper is very strong and lifts 30 times his own weight. In his most common form he can actually lift El Wray up and if his wings were to be bigger, he could fly El Wray around.
Bullet proof: Choppers scales are strong like steel plates. Making him bullet proof (although it does sting a little) and stab proof.
Weaknesses: Chicken. Chopper loves to eat chicken, whether it’s raw, cook, or still moving. Chopper is weak against magic attacks although the user of the swords he guards is highly resistant to magic based attacks. Chopper is completely vulnerable to the swords he is guarding. Meaning you can actually cut him with them without any effort.
