I like the pan-flute, personally. Though I can't imagine how much of a bitch it must be to play these for a few days. Wilted, spoiling instruments? While I guess it's good for travelling, overall it's not that practical. It is a pretty innovative way to play with your food, though.

It is if you can't afford a $2,000 instrument. He probably explained it in japanese somewhere, why he always uses a carrot...but I'll hazard a guess and say it's because mouth-pieces are fine pieces, and since carrots are one of the firmest vegies, they are fairly easy to sculpt into whatever small shape is necessary for that particular mouth piece.
