Name: Dee
Age: Mid-twenties
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Alignment: Lawful Good
Power Level: Mid-tier Medium (5)
Timeline: Modern
Appearance: An incredibly beautiful woman with looks that could never have been accomplished through natural genetics. She has long, glossy hair the color of daffodils and eyes precisely the color of emerald. Her skin is a flawless cream wrapped in her white gown that folds about her figure with a high, stiff collar. White gloves stretch down her arms but leave her hands bare, instead looping around her middle finger to hold them in place from above and below the hand and they seem to have emeralds held over the hand for decoration, but in truth, these are actually in Dee's hands. It flows down to her thighs, but is then allowed to separate so that it only covers one side, allowing her legs to move unhindered. White boots with pronounced heels are her footwear of choice.
Personality: Dee is almost too nice to be believable. She is nearly impossible to offend or anger and is always forgiving and understanding, no matter what is done. Kay has even attempted to leave her to die on a couple occasions, and Dee will turn around and stand up for her in front of Vemor. She never holds a grudge, she never becomes unnecessarily violent. It is for this reason that Kay often grows irritated with her, because she never responds in a manner that, in Kay's opinion, is appropriate to the situation.
History: Dee came from a pretty normal family, somewhat upper middle class but not rich. Her father was a dentist and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. She was living at home, but was enrolled in college, aiming for degrees in journalism and foreign relations, then hoping to go overseas as a writer for perhaps Time magazine.
Then it was all derailed, literally. She and her mother were driving upstate to visit a family friend when a train derailed and came off the bridge over them. The mother skidded trying to swerve, but she slammed into the concrete median and one of the cargo sections came down right on top of their car, smashing it like a soda can. Her mother was killed instantly and she would have been close behind her if a follower of Vemor hadn't just happened to be nearby. The Good Samaritan had been able to pull her free from the wreckage and get her to the enclave the group stayed in. Vemor saw to her immediately and repaired her, modifying her to her personal image of beauty like it did with everyone else in the process, making her a follower, as well, as a result.
When she came to, she was grateful for them saving her life, but was spooked by the cultist air she got from them. She didn't want to offend them, as she did owe them her life, but when the member that saved her, Kay, let it slip that she was going to be selling weaponry she had “acquired” from a very generous soldier, Dee knew she had to get out of there. Before she could, there was a raid to regain the weaponry.
The culprit had been Kay alone. The rest of the Vemorites had nothing to do with it, but the soldiers thought otherwise, and in the resulting confusion, Vemor, itself, had stepped forward to try to settle it, but the soldiers responded violently, forcing it to do the same. There was only one way soldiers would respond to a woman changing into a massive serpent monster, and that was with lead. The retaliation peppered Vemor's chest and sent it over the edge of the balcony and into the waters below.
Kay had hidden her stash well, though, and the soldiers couldn't find the weapons. After being interrogated under a hot lamp light in a military interrogation chamber and unable to give them anything but how she had only recently arrived, being brought there after the car accident, Dee was allowed to go home to her father.
She didn't realize how loyal she was to Vemor, how truly grateful she was and how in-tune to its vision she was until several days later when Kay and several other followers showed up in a van at her house. When Kay told her what she had in the van, Dee rushed out of the house, even though it was in the middle of dinner, to see for herself and to attempt to convince Kay not to go through with it.
Because part of Vemor was literally with each of them, they were able to commune with it even though it wasn't present, and it took particular control over Dee. Following urges that weren't her own and directions she didn't know, she took over the van from Kay and, in a near trance-like state, she drove it to a specific military base where they had stored an item of Vemor's, an emerald crystal that had powered the machine back when it once required it. She returned the weapons and, through powers of telekinesis she hadn't had before her possession by Vemor's consciousness, retrieved the crystal.
Once back with the others, she looked down at the pulsing stone in her hand with a dumbfounded look. The others knew what it was she had, but she didn't. Then another trance overtook her and she took the crystal in her hands and smashed it against the ground, causing it to shatter, much to the shock of the other followers. She took the two resulting shards and placed them between her hands. If she were not in a trance, what happened next would perhaps have made her withdraw her hands immediately. The crystals seemed to melt through her flesh, embedding themselves in her hands so they adorned the top like decorative, implanted gems.
When this trance, too, faded, she was left with information. They needed to retrieve Vemor from where it had fallen into the sea. Immediately, they set out, acquiring a boat and scuba gear. Pulled by the crystals and shards of the consciousness that still floated in her head, Dee went in immediately, going down into the depths right to the machine's body. When she brought it back up to the surface, Kay took Vemor on board, but then, fearing competition, she kicked the ladder off the deck, causing Dee to sink back into the water.
Shock was the girl's first feeling, but the crystals on her hands began to glow, and the glow was repeated in her eyes before she surged back up out of the water with incredible kicks, so much so that she actually shot out of the water several feet before landing on the deck of the boat once more.
They were able to use the crystal to restart Vemor, who immediately wanted to know why Kay had done such a thing, but Dee stuck up for her, explaining that the other girl had simply been worried that she would lose Vemor's attention. Ever since then, alongside Kay, Dee has been an elder sister among the followers, seeing all of them as fellow brothers and sisters and Vemor as a father figure. She cut ties with her own family, even reducing her name to its first initial, D, giving her the name Dee that she has gone by ever since.
Powers: Dee possesses telekinesis proportional to her own physical abilities. This means it takes her the same effort to remotely lift, move and manipulate things as it would for her to do it with her own two hands. She can also extend the crystals in her hands a la Wolverine and use them like katar blades. In moments of crisis, the crystal's power can supercharge her for a few moments of “berserk” superpower. She can pull on this power at any time, but it's not as potent as during those times.
Equipment: The crystals embedded in the back of her hands.
Weakness: She is just a normal human aside from her powers and is subject to all the weaknesses therein. Also, due to her niceness and lack of aggression, she may pass up opportunities to strike.
