It is very rare that I get excited for a film, but I found myself becoming more and more fascinated with the upcoming film; Watchmen. The film based off one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) graphic novel of all time of the same name by Alan Moore, which I had the pleasure of reading some time ago. At first I viewed the movie as being a simple name brand plot swap movie that tends to happen with Super Hero Movies these days. But as I watched closer, it appears that the film is staying very close to the actual book. The book in the past had been deemed unfilmable, but perhaps they will be able to pull it off?
What are your thoughts, do you plan to see the movie? Have you read the comics? Do you think that they can match in the film the themes and emotion that were displayed with such color in the graphic novel? For those who have read the novel, what are your thoughts on rumors of a possilble alteration to the movies ending?

I thought you'd find that movie and comic interesting. Yes, the movie should be great and is thus far expected to be the best film of 2009. Currently I'm still debating with myself if I should wait to see the movie and then read the comic or read the comic then see the movie. I've already looked up the info on wikipedia so I know a good sized amount of the story. But... I don't know. Usualy when you go into a movie without knowing whats going to happen it makes the movie more interesting when your not expecting something to happen.

Looks rather interesting. I'll keep that on my list of movies to see when it comes out.

The genre is pretty popular now with movies like Ant-man, Avengers, MadMen, The Witchblade, Whiteout, Watchmen, and other comic based movies coming out between 2009-2011. But in my opinion, usually, Hollywood versions of graphic novels/comic books are not my favorite, because they are done cheesy. I did like Ironman, 30 Days of Night, 300, Hellboy, and a couple other ones. I tend to like the comic books better than their movie counter parts.
I actually happen to like Frank Miller’s style, as in Sin City, but I haven’t seen The Spirit yet. Even though it is not Frank Miller’s style, I must say that Watchmen actually looks good, because the original comic already has a good story line, so it probably would be pretty good. So, I think I will see it either in the movies or when it comes out Netflixs (I think it depends on the reviews)

Hush, I was covering far more important things; catching up on my lack of sleep.
Well, the movie is not as good as one would hope to be; for both fan and uninitiated alike. I wont go into the details, but the film seemed forced and rushed. Perhaps if the film was left at it's original four hour length and people had the patience to sit through such a film with an intermission, things would be very different.
Should readers of the book go see the movie? Yes, you should, it's a right of passage almost to see such transitions.
Should uninitiated see the movie? Not necessary, read the book first, it's FAR better than the film. It's affordable to, I've seen it at stores like Target for fifteen dollars. If you dont like to read, then get the motion comic which is now for sale, although that has some cut dialogue, it's still a very loyal adaptation.

Well I saw the movie. I liked it despite all the naked blue guy scenes. Now I shall read the book... once I find some time to... or the power goes out in my house again.
My favorite quote from the movie: "You all forget, I'm not trapped in here with you. You are all trapped in here with me."

Yes, this is the first time in I don't know how long, but I am here and this is what I have to say about the movie:
Dr. Manhattan, please put some friggin pants on, sir.

What need does he have for pants? Pants are for those who are cold, and he is unaffected by atmosphere, or for those bound by society's definitions of modesty, and he exists outside of it. He has no logical reason for wearing pants, and he is capable of little else but logic.
I haven't seen the movie, though I desperately want to. Unfortunately, because of a lack of theaters in my area, I won't be able to see it until it comes out on DVD. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get a Director's Cut version with the full, original four hours? Dare we hope?
Watchmen is a huge story. Trying to fit it into only two hours ... it's no wonder it was rushed.

Ninmast it 2.75 hours long. Not just 2 hours. According to my dad who is a comic book expert/super nerd who doesn't know much about computers, they did a good job at fitting as much as possiable into the alowed time.
As for blue boy... well... I believe he could understand that most people, mainly the straight male population, wouldn't want to see him naked.

I hate to do this but... As for blue boy... well... I believe he could understand that most people, mainly the insecure male population, wouldn't want to see him naked. Fix'd.
