Name: Karl Tenck / Excelsior
Age: 200
Gender: Male
Race: Trans-universal Human
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Power Level: Mid-tier High ( 8 )
Timeline: Modern
Appearance: Excelsior stands at roughly 6"1' tall and his musclebound and wide frame gives him an approximate weight of 280 pounds, all muscle and superdense skin. He belongs to the Caucasian race, sporting a light skin, which however almost permanently carries varying shades of tan due to his frequent exposure to sunlight. His facial features could best be described as angled, with pronounced eyebrows, an almost straightly vertical nose and a square jawline, which sports a well groomed full beard. His facial hair as well as his main hair are a dark brown shade which appears almost black from a distance and in poor lighting, and he keeps his main hair at chin length, and, when "on the job" tied back in a short ponytail.
When in private Excelsior prefers to wear sweaters and turtlenecks, predominately in a shade of his favorite color, purple, together with slacks almost exclusively in black, even if the odd dark gray one does sneak in. He wears black or dark brown leather dress shoes to his casual wear. When "on the job" Excelsior sports a full body jumpsuit made from a material that appears to be a blend between leather and spandex, a dark purple in color, along with slim but reinforced boots in the same coloring. Along with this go a pair of fingerless gloves, a black belt and a purple cape. His entire chest as well as the back of his cape, the back of his gloves, the buckle of his belt and the sides of his boots are adorned with a big and bold letter E in silver reflective coloring, which serves as his logo. Additionally he wears a purple tinted visor.
Personality: Excelsior is a man who lives by his own rules, even though these more often than not coincide with the general social consensus. He makes a point about not helping others because it is what society expects of him but because it is what he wants to do, and when laws and conventions pose a hindrance in his efforts to help he will disregard them and act against them. He also does not do what he does for free, he makes it perfectly clear that he expects to be rewarded for his efforts, and rewarded well, but not unreasonable, and he is not above putting subliminal pressure on those who might refuse to hand out the rewards, which has earned him being called a thug almost as often as he is called a hero.
Being born absolutely normal and powerless, only gaining his extra-ordinary abilities at age eighty he sees his gifts as a second chance to do something that really matters with the now much longer life he has been given. While it did strengthen his believe in a higher mythological power he stays unsure about the specifics of it all. His new goal in life is to help where ever his unique skills are needed and in good time make an impact on the world so lasting it will change humankind and the planet for ever and for the better.
Excelsior is a man of flexible morals, he will consider each and every conundrum individually and avoids generalizing moral standards. Like every person however, he has some basic views that form his general behavior. The first and strongest of these is that life is a great treasure and should be preserved at most any cost. He will safe people even against their will and he is a strong supporter of life-preserving methods even in the face of extremely bad health, and he dislikes the concept of abortion, believing that every unborn child should get the chance to live. Another great principle of his is that Humanity and Nature need to learn to harmonize, which leads to him taking on a good measure of eco-criminals but also those green-rights activists who advocate to put Nature first and Humanity second in a terroristic manner.
History: Excelsior began his live as Karl Tenck in a universe other than ours but very similar. He worked a standard office job, had a number of failed marriages and two children, he grew old, eventually moved into a retirement home and was only waiting for the Reaper to come and collect him. Then one day he got a second chance. On his eightieth birthday Karl decided to go for a walk, since there was nothing better to do with nobody coming in to visit him. On his way from the retirement home to the local park he passed through the outer rims of the city core, and walked past a fabled research facility. With an earth-shattering thunder came what made Karl Tenck into Excelsior: The complete research facility, which had been host to experiments on the topic of space-time manipulation, exploded and scattered the surrounding five kilometers through the multiverse. Karl himself was hit with the Antimatter-Generator that the laboratory had been powered with, and through the strange properties of the space between the universes it got fused with his body and changed him, replacing his heart and giving him powers beyond his wildest imaginations.
He eventually woke up floating about five hundred yard in mid-air over an unfamiliar landscape, his body reverted back to that of a teenager. He learned how to use his powers fast and decided to use them for the improvement of his own life and that of others. At first he tried to look for a way back into his own universe, but after a few decades he realized that there was nothing waiting for him back there, and he had grown very attached to his new home, so he concentrated on doing his best in that universe. He grew famous and respected, so much actually that he inspired that universes version of the Superman character, a character so fundamental and universal that theories say there is barely a universe where it does not exist in on form or another. Some even theorized Excelsior himself is an incarnated alternate of the Superman concept.
Eventually the meta-powered criminals of that universe, where meta-humans were rather commonplace, decided he had to be dealt with in some fashion. They tried many assaults on his life, but none succeeded thanks to Excelsiors might. A young portal magician stepped forward one day with a daring plan, claiming they didn't need to kill Excelsior, just make him go away. So a band of meta-criminals gathered resources and set up a trap for him, that eventually resulted in him ending up in this very universe. That was twenty years ago. Excelsior has continued his work here, but in contrast to his first universal misplacement he has not given up on finding a way back yet.
Powers:
Equipment:
Excelsiors costume is crafted from a specialized material called Ultra-Fiber Special III. It is a highly durable fabric, able to put up with speed close to the light barrier, and almost as impenetrable as Excelsiors own skin. Due to UFS III seemingly not available in this universe he take great care of his suit, which he normally wears beneath his standard clothes. The high durability goes on the cost of mobility though, the suit is about as flexible as thick, slightly hardened leather. He also usually wears purple tinted visor that has an integrated radio-system and camera for video and photography. The recorded data gets directly transmitted to a storage server in Excelsiors base. Furthermore the radio transmitter is capable of sending a distress call. The visor acts as shades against bright light and can withstand high temperatures, which enables Excelsior to fire eye-beams without taking them off most of the time, but the higher performance beams will melt it. Furthermore Excelsior always carries a number of high-gloss autograph pictures in a zip-pocket of his suit, as well as a pen.
Weakness:
While Excelsiors skin may be impenetrable his inner body structure does not benefit from the same state. The high-powered blood gives his bones and organs a supernatural durability but in comparison with his skin they are rather soft and weak. This means that impact can still break his bones and hurt his inner organs, if he doesn't take care, and he can fall unconscious if he suffers a hard enough blow to the head.
Since his eye-beam laser depends on the light that enters his eyes it's maximum power directly correlates to the brightness of the light in his vicinity. If he is in an area of absolute darkness he cannot use the beam at all. Furthermore it seems that prolonged use of the beam causes temporary degradation of his sight, possibly to the point of total blindness.
While his psychic defenses are strong he has barely any defense against magical attacks. He is very susceptible to them and has always had the hardest time fighting those who utilize the arcane arts.

Powers:
- Antimatter Heart
The source of Excelsiors powers is the Antimatter generator that has fused with his body and replaced his heart. It gives him the high energy his powers need, but it is still fueled with regular nutrients, just a great amount more of them.
- Extended Lifespan
Excelsior has a lifespan five times as long as that of a normal human.
- Self-sustained flight
Excelsior is capable of flying without support of any any kind. He has breached light speed once but it too a considerable toll on even his highly durable body, so he avoids doing it again. He is highly skilled in flight and it has become second nature to him like walking and running.
- Impenetrable skin
His skin is impenetrable as to current scientific knowledge. It is harder than any substance as of yet known and has survived even projectiles fired at speeds far above supersonic.
- Super-Strength
Through the exceptional power his modified heart fuels his muscles with Excelsior can perform feats of strength far beyond what a regular human is capable of. He can lift entire buildings, throw tanks like baseballs and rip through steel blow doors with his bare hands. He can use it to produce a deafening thunderclap with his hands, cause tremors by hitting the earth and snap human limbs like twigs if need be. His tremendous muscle-power also enables him to great leaps and formidable running speed, although he much prefers flight.
- Eye-beam Laser
By refocusing the light that enters his eyes and feeding it some of the energy from his heart Excelsior can produce a focused beam of light or laser beam, which he fires from his eyes. The beam is blue in color and firing it makes his eyes glow blue as well. At it's highest performance it can melt and cut through tungsten but not diamond. He can also use this to produce a blinding flash of light instead of a laser beam.
- Psychic Shield
It appears that to a certain extend Excelsiors powers work on a psychic basis. He has tried and failed to learn such techniques as telekinesis and telepathy, but he has succeeded in fortifying his mind against psychic attacks to a great extend. While a master of the mental arts will still be able to enter and manipulate his mind he will have a hard time doing so and will not go unnoticed.
