(Finally gotten around to redoing this)
Name: Nevina
Age: 282
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Alignment: True Neutral
Power Level: High-tier Medium (6)
Timeline: Medieval or Any (Dimension Hopper)
Appearance:
Nevina's golden hair is worn long to her knees and kept in a full braid, stiled to allow her bangs to fall and freely frame her face. She shares the exotic, elongated features of her elven heritage and teal-colored eyes. Thanks to the fact that she's almost always covered and is rarely exposed to the sun, she's avoided the heavy tanning Igashu underwent; her skin remains very fair, it's light colour only broken by the black tattooed lineart of a rearing unicorn, the avatar of Ehlenestra, covering her back.
At 5'4" and weighing 114 pounds, the small-framed elf commands very little, if any, physical presence on her own. However, her white robes, worn in three overlapping layers, gives her a much larger, much more imposing presence, especially when she gets the notion to keep the hood up and face you down with either staff or bow in hand.
Personality:
A mission-oriented person, her relationships with traveling companions, though mostly open and trusting, are, ultimately, nothing more than utilitarian. If asked about "friends," she will reply that they are simply an additional means to one's ends. While this may seem callous to most people, by no means does this mean she's a mean-spirited grump who hates people. Rather, it simply means that, while she can and does enjoy company, she's never especially loyal or "attached" to a single person or group. While certainly a polite person in deed and word, her speech is often frank, and her disciplined air and social detachment make her seem rather impassive to others.
It's perhaps this same detachment that has allowed her to continue on her mission without distraction.
Social issues aside, she's a sensible person. Rather logical, she despises senseless and frivolous behaviour. Unlike her companion Igashu, who's distractable and often loses sight of the "big picture", Nevina's disciplined manner extebds into her thoughts, giving her the uncanny ability to concentrate on a task amidst a myriad of distractions. Like all elves, she's patient, and it takes a lot of hard work to get under her skin. Also like all elves, once you get on her "bad side," you'll find it especially hard to get off of it again. Elven memories are, after all, very long and detailed.
Bio:
Nevina is parentless, orphaned at the age of...well, very young for an elf. She doesn't remember, or maybe does remember and simply opts not to disclose, the circumstances that led to her no longer having anyone to care for her. What is known is that she found herself at the steps of a small monastery in the forests of south Darnathir. Most followers of Ehlonna/Ehlenestra choose to practice and worship alone, taking up the call of druids and living lives of solitude in the forests. So popular is the following of Ehlenestra among the inhabitants of these forests that a monastery had been erected. It was in this monastery that Nevina worked, played, grew, and came to learn the druidic customs that would have fashioned her into a priestess of the forests.
A century later and almost into adulthood, it was here that she would first hear of the name "Jal Garnok." After several encounters with a peculiar wandering wizard and his tales of the dragon aeromancer, Nevina eventually stopped her study of the divine power of druids, and took up the arcane study of aeromancy. She would come to leave the monastery about a decade later, finding its study materials on the arcane to be lacking.
For nearly a century, she wandered, studying and researching, learning and improving. While her abilities in the divine waned from lack of practice, and though her regular wizardry was of no bragging note, she became especially adept in the basics of aeromancy, so much so that she became actively involved in dungeoneering and adventuring to find a few of the (rumored to be) hundreds of ancient manuscripts on aeromancy written by Jal Garnok himself, detailing more advance methods and spells. While successful in this way, she was also unintentionally successful in uncovering clues by decyphering a code in the draconic text that hinted to a more sinister purpose behind the ancient dragon's studies.
And so began Nevina's ongoing quest to hunt down the artifacts of Jal Garnok, and eventually to hunt the dragon himself. After many more decades, this quest eventually led her to the city of Darnathir itself, where she met and "hired" Valdimar and Igashu, then both posing as mercenaries.
For the next couple months, the threesome traveled about the land, adventuring, dungeoneering, crypt-crawling...painfully slowly, they followed the deliberate (almost tauntingly so) clues along their path to finding their prey. During their treck, they joined with and departed company from several companions: the chivalrous paladin Itori (then only a regular in the Sky Riders), the shamelessly coy halfling known as Braebuck, and even a rather shrewd and chatty gnoll warlock.
The three eventually reached a ruined tower within the Wastes, the place where all clues so far had led. Inside, after a bit of exploring, the three found a chamber in which resided a magnificent artifact that they had heard about in their journey: the Dimensional Cube, a key to unlocking a portal to any dimension or plane one so chose, at any moment, any time. Igashu accidentally set it off when he touched it, sending both he and Nevina through a portal and off into some unknown world...
...and it has been five years since they disappeared.
Powers/Abilities:
Nevina has, of course, all the racial abilities or elves, including greater-than-average dexterity and reflexes, excellent hearing, and the ability to see well in low light conditions. She is also resistant to the mind-affecting abilities of others.
Nevina is still capable of casting a limited number of lower-level druidic spells, mostly in the form of curative and purification mantras and a small assortment of charms. However, she's all but "lost" her ability to use more powerful druidic abilities, simply due to the fact that she's so far out of practice with them.
When it comes to the Arcane, however, she is much more adept, able to exercise an assortment of different spells. However, she didn't take up arcane magics in order to train to be a wizard, and as such her knowledge of some of the schools is very limited. For example, while her ability with abjurations, evocations, and conjurations are excellent, she's incapable of any illusions more complex than simple figments and glamers, her divinations are limited to aeromancy, and she's more or less incapable of necromancy or enchantment. (Not that she's incapable, just that she's never learned it yet.)
When it comes to Aeromancy, however, she's effectively a master, capable of both forms of the the craft to equal effect. First is her ability to create and/or manipulate magical and mundane storms and weather patterns of all varieties, molding them, manipulating them, and changing them to suit her needs...from making torrential downpours in deserts to tornados to furious hellstorms raining fire and demons upon the earth. Second is her ability to manipulate the latent magical "atmosphere" known collectively as the Mists that give arcane spells their power, ranging from her ability to concentrate it to the point of burning the casters who use it, to amplifying its effects to strengthen her spells, to even removing it from an area completely, and creating a "dead zone" where all spells fail. Finally is her ability to use atmospheric conditions (both mundane and magical) as a divination tool, effectively turning the night sky into a scrying pool and using the clouds to forecast events instead of weather.
Equipment:
Nevina possesses two weapons. The first is a simple, iron-plated quarterstaff, with which she focuses most of her spells and and uses to great effect in melee when necessary.
The second, and less used, is the enchanted holy longbow Luciustaraneth. The bow is sentient, and resides in the Ethereal Plane in the form of a ghostly mirror-image of Nevina. On her mental command, it materializes into an ashwood bow with a silvery sheen. When the bow is fully drawn, it is capable of firing concentrated arrows of force that act and fly as normal arrows, without the need for ammunition. When using ammunition for the bow, it imbues the arrows with a white light that burns on contact...and burns a whole helluva lot more to those of evil dispositions, or the undead. Nevina typically keeps a full quiver of ordinary arrows on hand for just this purpose.
Nevina is also the keeper of the Dimensional Cube, a Rubix Cube-like device that is capable of opening portals to approximately 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 unique and separate worlds or dimensions. Doing so consumes a large amount of power from the Cube, requiring its user to wait between 1-2 weeks for it to recharge. If the user is fully aware of the complete functionality of the cube (which nevina still is not), then one also knows that the Cube is also capable of traveling directly to an artifact known as the Dimensional Tracking Orb.
