Name: Chandra (Tiralchanæga when not in human society)
Age: 38ish
Gender: Female
Race: Human, (subtype) Shifter
Alignment: Neutral
Power level: 7
Timeline: Human, 20th century (Britain)
Appearance: 5 feet 7 inches in height, about 130 lbs, Chandra (she hates her full name) is in good shape, and to those humans around her, "stacked", for lack of a better word. She generally wears loose outerwear over a body mesh, as she finds that to be most comfortable.
History: Chandra was born and raised just like any other human, but about the time of adolescence, she woke up as... a bear. She cried for her father, and he raced into the room, but by that time her conscious mind reasserted itself and she had changed back. Over the years, she learned to control her powers, and even amplify them. As a teenager, after school she would turn into a squirrel and run with the squirrels for an hour or two, learning languages and insights. She saved Britain from the ColdWorms, a creature that normally slumbers in the northern ice wastes, by turning into a dragon, a creature which she had only read about. As long as she has a mental picture of something, she can transform into it. She has so far learned to speak Avian (birds), Sylvan (forest animals), Tree, Aquan (water animals), and Citai (city animals, such as rats, ferrets, squirrels, etc).
Personality: She loves nature, in all its forms. She actively works against logging companies and nature shows, both personally and through various forms of litigation, because she feels they aren't right. She cannot walk into pet shops without breaking into tears and spending all her money, but otherwise she's perfectly well to get along with. She teaches history at a local high school, but only because the biology class had a dissection requirement. Her shapechanging abilities make her perspectives on history quite unique, and her students actually learn quite a bit from her. Her house is full of uncaged animals, especially dogs, and all of them coexist perfectly well (when she's around).
Powers: Physical transformation. As long as she has a picture in her mind of a creature, her body reacts to it. A long recessive gene is active in her, allowing her body to nearly-instantly transform into her mind's desire, as long as it has an active nervous system. (she can't, for example, be a spoon). While so transformed, she gains all the abilities of the race, but there is a tendency to submerge in the personality of the body she wears.
Weakness: Vulnerable to fire, and helpless creatures. She'll do nearly anything to protect an animal, regardless of species.
