Name: Coronin Dondovich
Age: Tens of thousands of years
Gender: Male
Race: Elder Vampire
Alignment: Lawful Good
Power Level: Low-tier High (7)
Timeline: Any (Only Modern will know and be in love with Star. A Medieval version would not have met her yet.)
Appearance: A dashingly handsome man with shoulder-length lavender hair wearing traditional royal garb in the form of a pale blue dress tuxedo with a deep violet cloak. His skin is deathly pale and his eyes are completely white.
Personality: Very honorable and fair, disliking unnecessary violence but willing and able to fight for his people. He believes humans and vampires can live together without killing each other, and strives for this. He will help either side, but as the King of Vampires, he feels obligated to put the well-being of his people first.
History: Coronin became the Vampire King several thousand years ago, which coincided with an amazing drop in vampire activity, resulting in their drift from a threat to a legend in human stories.
While not truly the king of all vampires, he is the king of many, and even those outside his rule who have any exposure to vampire culture know who he is. When he first ascended to the throne, he established policies prohibiting vampires from feeding on humans, setting up new systems of order and making special feeding laws.
Without the right to wallow in the barbaric tendencies of their forefathers, vampire culture flourished and enriched, leaving the dark ages and entering an era of rennaissance. Vampires became more civil and less violent. Still, there were rebels who wished to return to the bloody ways of the past, but they were fought and restrained, arrested and reeducated or imprisoned.
It was one of these "rogue" vampires who one day, in a blood frenzy driven by draining most of a district in a newfound fledgling country, managed to sink his fangs into a girl with amazing powers. She survived the attack, however, and became a vampire, herself. But this girl was no commoner. She was the princess of this fledgling nation, which presented a problem. She was brought to his capitol city to be recorded and instructed, but he hadn't believed the stories he had heard, about a mortal that fought the way she did, so when she arrived, he hid and when her back was turned, he struck.
The ferocity with which his attack was met surprised even him, and despite the swordsmanship he had honed over countless millennia, she quickly overpowered him and threw his hood back before recognizing him as the man who had told her she needed to come here in the first place. Indeed, he had personally gone to her dressed in the clothes of a civilian to first encourage her. Before further accusations could be made, however, his Royal Guard stormed in, as they were trained to do, much to her surprise.
That day had led into others, and they gradually became closer, but she despised being a vampire and searched for a way to cure herself. During this time, they fell in love. He proposed to her, and she accepted. It was only a few days later when she found a way through her incredible powers to heal her state and return her from the realm of undeath. It had scared him when he first saw her, weak and drained as if on the verge of death. Indeed, it was precisely where she was, as one must be as they travel from death to life, just as one must cross that same boundary passing from life to the realm of the dead. It wasn't until she spat the blood back out in disgust when he tried to get her to drink that he realized what she had done.
Part of her was happy for her. But another part knew that he had lost her forever.
They kept their engagement intact, but he turned down her offer to heal him, as well, pointing out that just as she had to return to her people, so did he have to tend to his people, and they swore that, being immortal as they were, they would wait however many millennia they must until they were free of their duties and could dedicate their lives to one another.
Powers:
Vampiric Body: Coronin possesses enhanced strength, speed, dexterity and constitution due to his vampiric state. Because he is an Elder Vampire, this is even greater than it would be for a normal one.
Vampiric Flight: Coronin has the ability to fly due to his vampiric state. There is no thrust and no accompanying power level deviation.
Vampiric Hypnosis: Coronin has the ability to mentally command others by maintaining eye contact. After the command has been given, the victim will remain under its effect until Coronin dies, the victim is doused with holy water, or he voluntarily releases the victim. A sharp blow can also sometimes free the victim, but this leaves a potential for a relapse. He must only maintain eye contact while giving the command. Once it has been given, this is unnecessary.
Immunity to Toxins and Disease: Already being dead, Coronin is immune to poisons and illnesses, no matter how severe. He also cannot drown or suffocate.
Vampiric Recovery: Coronin heals at an enhanced rate, recovering from wounds in minutes. This can be accelerated to nearly instantaneous time frames if he feeds.
Blood Lust/Blood Frenzy: Like all vampires, if he consumes enough blood in a short amount of time, he goes into a blood-driven frenzy. His abilities are all hightened, but he can't always differentiate between friend or foe. This can also occur if he has gone for too long without feeding and drinks.
Weapons: Royal Fang: This rapier is Coronin's primary weapon and he is never seen without it. Its name is more than just poetic, however. The interior is hollow like a hypodermic needle - or a vampire's fang. When it pierces an enemy's flesh, the blood taken into the sword is directed back to Coronin, absorbing into him as if he, himself, were feeding directly from the wound. This allows him to recover without having to break combat. He can also use it for his special technique, the Vampiric Strike. When this is activated, the sword glows with a blue aura, and when plunged into an enemy, it actively sucks the blood from the victim. If resistance is not quickly executed, it can drain every drop of blood from the body.
Weakness: Holy water burns him and holy magics are effective against him. Artifacts are questionable, as he wears a holy cross around his neck, a gift from his betrothed, and it does not burn him. Whether this is because he is not an evil being or for some other reason is unknown. Because he is an elder vampire, ultraviolet light does not kill him, but it definitely stings like the dickens, quickly giving him severe burns if he does not take precautionary measures. Sunblock can protect him from it, as does any clothes he happens to be wearing. The traditional vulnerability to garlic is questionable. He certainly runs a reaction to it, but he was allergic to the tear-jerking herb even when he was among the living, so it is difficult to say if this is still the same allergy or if it truly hurts him. He doesn't count it as much of a loss, though. He never liked it, anyway. The only way to kill him for good is to put a wooden stake through his heart or for him to starve to death.
