Name: Alphonse Lerouge (AL-fonz le-Ruuj)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Power Level: Mid-tier Medium (5)
Timeline: Modern
Appearance: The blonde-haired man that stands before you seems a rather confident fellow, and perhaps something of a ruffian. He has a well-built form outlined by a black leather jacket over a grey shirt. As he notices you watching, he pulls up one of the sleeves to just below his elbow and reaches up to flick some of the thick, messy locks out of the way of his ice-blue eyes, in turn putting his black fingerless gloves in clear display. He gives you a white grin and turns away, putting one hand into the pocket of his chained black jeans before pulling out a smoke and lighter, taking a careless puff as he strides away, flicking the barely-used cigarette away as if it meant nothing to him.
Personality: Alphonse is a free spirit. He’s not a bad guy, but his own moral compass certainly doesn’t match up with that of society. He shuns authority whenever he gets the chance, and loves to tell the blue-shirted pigs to go stuff their face with their American pastries. He definitely loves the opposite sex, but while he pursues, he’s not so animalistic that he’ll force himself, and will stop others who would do so. He’s not completely without reservations, however, and is something of a charismatic anti-hero that seems to live to showboat.
History: Over two and a half decades ago, a young couple fled France. They were scientists that worked for the government, which had demanded something of them that they could never give. The government had come to their house demanding that they turn their infant son over to them for experiments in a supersoldier experiment they, themselves, had developed.
After escaping and managing to catch a flight to the United States, the husband and wife created a new life. Their original surname was left behind in an effort to prevent their tracing, and they took on the name Lerouge. While they raised their little boy on American soil, they taught him French as his primary language, and English as a secondary one, lending him a thick French accent and a feeling more of being a European than an American.
Still, perhaps their care had been a bit too strict. When Alphonse was fifteen, he began displaying strange and wonderful abilities, but his parents, frightened that after all those years, France might hear of those gifts and come after him again, scolded him and made him hide them, punishing him whenever they caught him using them. He began to rebel against them, growing more violent and resistant to their instructions and skipping school so he could practice his ever-growing abilities in back alleys and other dark recesses of the city.
As his powers grew, so did his arrogance and his hatred of authority, but his respect for life never wavered.
Powers:
Shadowkinesis – Alphonse has the ability to manipulate shadows at will, and has a high degree of control. He can use them to cloud the vision of others or as a physical presence. He is strongest in complete darkness, and has a sort of darksight that allows him to function without impediment in such conditions, but his powers gradually weaken the less shadows there are to control.
Melee Combat – While without any formal training, Alphonse is a competent and experienced street fighter, and many would-be punks make the mistake of thinking he can’t handle himself without using his powers. He is High-tier Low if he does not use his powers and only street fights.
Weapons: A Stainless Steel Butterfly Knife
Weakness: The more light there is, the less shadows there are for him to manipulate. If you can flood the entire room with light, he is powerless from the standpoint of his shadowkinesis, but suffers no other unnatural side-effects.
