Name: The Old Man of Turtledove Cove
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Race: Dark Spirit
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Power Level: High-tier Medium (6)
Timeline: Flexible, most likely Modern
Appearance: Seeming to be a skeletal, craggy old man in green and brown robes that are badly tattered, a closer inspection shows that his bony face is old, cracked wood, his vestments are leaves and timber, and his body is nothing but twigs, branches and vines. He has no eyes in his head, and the vines that he consists of are constantly writhing.
Personality: On the surface, a mindless killing machine. In truth, he is a dark spirit of the woods surrounding Turtledove Cove, and is very protective of them. Any seeming attempt to invade or foul the woods awakens him and stirs him into senseless violence.
History: Turtledove Cove is a beautiful little hamlet surrounded by lush woods on three sides and the beautiful cove waters on the fourth. It’s a popular destination for vacationing around rustic beauty, and most of the town’s revenues come from tourism. Because of this, there has been a sea of people coming and going from the city as the seasons ebb and flow.
Frequently, the locals give almost reverent thanks to the “Old Man” of the forest who watches over them and protects them, but of course, none but some of the elder locals ever give it any credit, and none of the vacationers put any stock in it.
Powers:
Plant Control: The Old Man can control and direct plant life at will.
Plant Sentience: He can see and hear and feel through the plants he controls.
Immortality: So long as the forests of Turtledove Grove live, so does he.
Weapons: None
Weaknesses: Fire seems to work to great effect on him, at least temporarily, for restraining him. If the affront against the forest can be discovered and remedied, he’ll go back into the woods and return to slumberous hibernation.
