I spent most of the day thinking: good, slick and suave merc or evil arms dealer? (Ok, maybe I was really doing HW.) I chose the first one:
Name: Nevil Mergon; Goes by Herr N
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power Level: High-Tier Low (3)
Time line: Modern
Appearance: 6-feet tall with a slightly below average build. Dark blond hair cut short (kinda like Albert Wesker from Resident Evil) and blue eyes. Always wears a flexible, magically enhanced suit (think Men in Black the movie, only with varying holsters) with black shades when on the job. Other times, his clothing varies.
Personality: While not very lawful, he does act on his own "personal code", basically meaning he keeps his attitude cool, treats women nicely, avoids large amounts of seriousness, doesn't take "evil" contracts, and keeps his true name hidden. The reason for hiding his true name is simply because he thinks Nevil is embarrassing.
History: Nevil Mergon grew up normally, for awhile. His father was a warlock who worked for a lower-ranking Baatezu Pit Fiend (lower-ranking for his kind, at least) as a mercenary in several battles of the Blood War. After quickly growing tired of the war, he came to this Prime and intended to stay. He started a family and had a son, Nevil, whom he was thankful for not inheriting his power (and the responsibility of it).
Nevil did gain some power over magical items his father brought back with him: the power to learn their secrets by holding them. Following in his father's footsteps, he started training himself to use modern weapons, along with his father's. So far, he has been a decently-skilled merc, only taking jobs that didn't involve doing evil, as per his father's advice. It was his father that gave Nevil his usual equipment (his magical out-fit) and access to the armory.
Powers: When holding magical items, he "downloads" the manual to 'em. The bad thing is, he won't know about harmful affects or how to activate it until AFTER he touches it. Things that activate by merely being touched will do so normally if Nevil attempts to learn their properties.
Decent stealth skills.
Skilled in the use of numerous weapons (especially hand-guns), vehicles, and magical devices.
Equipment: Has access to a fairly large personal armory, located on the Astral Plane. It is accessed through a special "portable hole", shaped like a typical door when fully folded out and activated. The armory itself is about the size of a typical, 2-story suburban house. Weapons included within include various military-grade weapons (I'm using BF2 as my source, so bear with me) and several magical weapons and supplies. Some of the magical weapons are modern, while others are Dungeons and Dragons style.
His own suit is magical, being as hard as steel chain mail but still flexible and a little stretchy. The glasses make magical things glow (the more powerful, the more glow) and the shoes let him jump up to 2 stories in place and absorb impacts from up to 3 (he'll start being affected past 3).
(I'll include good descriptions of any item, including appearance and effects. Nothing will be over-powered, except for maybe C4 +5 and Bullets of Detonation. ;D )
Weakness: Despite his equipment, he's as killable as a normal, physically fit human.
Yes, he's finally done, unless someone has a big problem with something.
