(Heh...remember him?)
Name: Igashu Gan Garvin
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power Level: Low-tier Medium (4)
Timeline: Medieval, though he is a dimension hopper...
Appearance:
Igashu's dirty blond hair hangs loose down around his shoulders, a golden circlet the only object keeping it from obstructing his view. He's no Prince Charming, but he does have a fairly handsome face and brown eyes. His skin is a light-ish bronze tan from spending nearly all of his past few years outdoors, a story easily told by simply looking at the calluses on his previously soft hands.
At 5'9" and weighing at about 155 pounds, the self-proclaimed ranger is no imposing figure, though his years traveling with Nevina have certainly helped give his previously slim build a well-defined athletic tone. He's won himself a few scars on various parts of his body, the most notable being an entrance and exit wound on his chest and back, where a well-thrown Javelin nearly skewered him through the heart, but missed anything vital.
He tends to cover these old wounds with a light cotton shirt and drawers, over which he drapes a chain shirt made of Eryifan Mithril, the same one that has served him for the past five years, a story told by it's few missing and broken links. His legs and arms are protected by banded metal bracers and shin-guards, lightly padded to keep the bands from making too much noise when they rub. To further dampen the sound of his light armor, he wears an earthen-brown leather tunic and pants, with gloves to match. His pack, which he wears tied around his midriff like a belt, dangles at his side and completes the ensemble He manages to top it off with a crimson mantle, soft as velvet, which he wears slung over his left shoulder.
Personality:
In his younger years, Igashu was known as a notorious womanizer and showboat, and would often compete with his friend and confidant Valdimar in various lighthearted tasks ranging from the simply insane, like swordplay upon rooftops, to the completely lustrous, like seeing who could woo to bed the most lady-folk. Though he hasn't completely broken from his old ways, his travels have at least directed his energies more to-wards a chivalrous and honorable demeanor.
However, such pastimes have granted him a quick mind and, though he's fairly average in the ways of actual knowledge, a certain uncanny cunning and expertise that extends into his swordplay. He is dead set on becoming the best swordsman in all the realms, a goal he set shortly after being swept away with Nevina by the Dimensional Cube*, and is always eager for a chance to prove his mettle.
History:
Okay, so I lied; he is Prince Charming. Well, a prince anyway...born to Queen Isobella and King Desmond, he's the only legitimate heir to the throne of Darnathir; his birth marks the end of the seven-hundred-year Gan Dynasty (his mother's side) and the start of House Garvin's reign (his father's side).
Growing up, Igashu was a handful for his caretakers, always finding new and creative ways to try and out-do the exploits of his three-years older best friend, Valdimar. Being so close, the two would often compete and spar, setting Igashu's prescedent for his "un-princely" behavior.
Bored with his "mundane" life and palace politics, as well has just being his usual restless self, he struck up an idea with Valdemar to pose as two mercenaries for hire and take a small trip around with someone and experience some life; they snuck out of the palace that night, and it was in a local tavern that they met Nevina, a priestess of Ehlonna on a mission to track a certain someone (she never told him who) and, barring she couldn't "change his ways", to kill him.
For the next couple months, the threesome traveled about the land, adventuring, dungeoneering, crypt-crawling...painfully slowly, they followed the deliberate (almost tauntingly so) clues along their path to finding their prey. During their treck, they joined with and departed company from several companions: the chivalrous paladin Itori (then only a regular in the Sky Riders), the shamelessly coy halfling known as Braebuck, and even a rather shrewd and chatty gnoll warlock.
The three eventually reached a ruined tower within the Wastes, the place where all clues so far had led. Inside, after a bit of exploring, the three found a chamber in which resided a magnificent artifact that they had heard about in their journey: the Dimensional Cube, a key to unlocking a portal to any dimension or plane one so chose, at any moment, any time. Igashu accidentally set it off when he touched it, sending both he and Nevina through a portal and off into some unknown world...
...and it has been five years since he disappeared.
Powers/Abilities:
Taught since birth as part of his royal education, Igashu is able to speak/read/understand the languages of both Elves and Dragons. Also a part of his education is an aptitude for the use of Draconic spells.
He learned from Braebuck how to make some basic poisons: one, a nerve-deadening agent that paralyzes foes, and another that puts them to sleep. Like most rangers, he is agile (especially in an open space) and adept at moving quick and stealthily over unfavorable terrain.
Igashu also has a short list of spells he has learned from his time with Nevina, some from her, some not:
Dancing Lights: With an incantation, Igahsu creates up to four lights that resemble lanterns (and cast that amount of light), or up to four glowing spheres of light (which look like will-o'-wisps), or one faintly glowing, vaguely humanoid shape. An often useful distraction.
Mage Armor: Igashu's armor, though good, is not especially strong; he augments it by casting this spell, which creates an invisible, yet tangible, field of force around his body that increases his resistance to weapons, as if he were wearing a suit of armor.
Epanomis Fortorum: By shouting out this draconic spell, Igashu gains an inate knowledge of all his surroundings within a 100ft radius of where he cast the spell. He knows every shrub, pole, wall, and pebble, every nook and cranny, as if he spent decades meticulously studying and mapping that one small area of land, and regardless of if he can see any or all of it or not. The spell's effect lasts for 10 minutes, before it wears off and fades from his mind, and he normally uses it to either find the best retreat path, or to give him a strategic terrain advantage in close combat.
Ressan Fethos: By calling out this draconic spell while holding onto a shield or sword, Igashu is able to make it magically float around him, protecting him as if he was using it, but with the benefit of giving him a free hand and defending against any "blind spots". The object can only circle around him though; he cannot use this spell to send his sword off to attack someone (a la White Ranger). The spell lasts about one minute (or approx. 10-15 posts) before the object falls to the ground. This spell is often sees use when Igashu is facing multiple enemies at once.
Solar Retribution: With Sol in hand, Igashu is able to harness the power of the sun itself to release a burst of solar energy from the blade that explodes on contact into a 10' radius mini-sun/ a white-hot ball of pre revolving sunlight. The recoil of the blast is such that is knocks him flat, the sword loses the ability to "hum" until it recharges, and he's not immune to the effects if he mis-calculates and catches himself in the blast; it'll hurt. A lot. This is a single-use ability that drains the sword of its power, and can only be used while Igashu is wielding Sol with both hands; it cannot be used while dual wielding.
Weapons:
Sol, a holy bastard sword enchanted with the power of the sun, is strapped to his back, it's blade wrapped in a makeshift sheath that's little more than a cloth bundle with the hilt protruding. Warm to the touch and light as a blade half its size, it cannot be broken by mundane tools or weapons, and it's blade acts keenly against the undead, the infernal, and the demonic. In the presence of such company, it gives a gentle dull hum that's usually only heard by Igashu when it's strapped to his back.
Igashu carries a longsword on his left under the mantle. This sword is able to, at his will, ignite and become a flaming sword. This is his primary weapon and the one with which he is most familiar. Also, he has found that simply igniting it and then casting Ressan Fethos is enough to deter most fights; few are willing to die against man with a blazing sword whirling around him. *wink*
Finally, strapped to his left wrist is a small crossbow. With it, he shoots his poison darts; which one he fires is a mystery, since he mixes them all within the same pouch...
Besides that, Igashu carries various healing salves within his pouch, as well as trail rations, the signet ring of his house, a waterskin and other various small hiking necessities.
Weaknesses:
Though usually relatively down-to-earth, he's prone to overconfidence when met with a string of successes, which often makes him forget his limits and act rashly. Usually Nevina is around to set him straight before anything happens, but it can cause problems when he's alone.
For Sol to recharge its power, the sword must remain in the presence of direct sunlight for a day.
Not to mention, he just can't say no to a beautiful woman...
