*attempting to instill life in the music section of the forum*
So, I was bored earlier while playing the piano, so I decided to play a piece I hadn't played in months. One-Winged Angel.
But, as I played it through, I started to realize it was sorta boring to play. I've been playing jazz on piano for some time now, avoiding classical (I've been trying out new styles).
I'll take a video when I can, but for now imagine One-Winged Angel swung in a jazz-style. Haha, all I did was take the version I know and swing the eighth notes... as well as maybe add a few jazz chords here and there to complete the feel.
I have a problem in the fact I don't know what to do with the 16th notes. I may just make them grace notes, or I may do something else. I don't have a plan yet.
Yay or nay? What are your thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? Drop the project entirely? Going to be slaughtered by fangirls? I'd like your input before I truly take this on.
Who knows. If I like this, I may do it to other songs as well (Tifa's theme comes to mind since there are a lot of eighth notes to swing). In fact, I may compose a drumset background in Finale to help me out with the jazz feel. Lol, swinger Tifa! Oops, did I say "swinger"? I meant "swinging".
Haha. Anyway, thoughts would be nice. Song suggestions, maybe.

Remixes of popular songs are always good. I have a Jazz version of the Zelda theme that's really good. The only problem I can see is that One-Winged Angel is a very dark, foreboding piece, and preserving that feeling in a Jazz-style remix could be difficult.

Jazz would be a hard transference to make. Perhaps some more of a classical ring to it would fit, then try to go from there.

Aye, OWA is already almost a classical piece (more like romantic era, with all that passion, anger, and foreboding nature, but I don't wish to get that technical here)... at least, in the way I currently play it.
Also, Ninmast is right when he says that swinging it and jazzing it up would probably lose the feel for it. I'm still very new to the whole Jazz genre, so I don't know much about the more advanced Jazz Chords and the like. I'm sure if I ask around, someone may be able to tell me a bit more about Jazz Chords.
Or, I can just swing it, and give it a bit of a happy dark feel (and forget about the Jazz Chords). I've been experimenting with it for some time now (in between practices of Requiem for a Dream).
I may preserve the straight eighth notes in certain sections (jazz music isn't always swung, and some jazz songs switch on-and-off throughout the song) where it may need it the most for the dark and foreboding nature. I'm still not sure yet how to totally approach this.

Happy dark is good, it reminds me of the trial in Chrono. Personally, I think you should totally go for a complete jazz feel. The dark, ominous, romantic feel is...overdone.

True, the dark, ominous, romantic feel IS overdone, but at the same time, that's also the very feeling it was meant to produce.
