This idea is still very very vague (as in almost not formed whatsoever), but I would like to make an RP in which a squad of Army Rangers, or Special Forces take on a terrorist group (the ol' OPFOR) and do their general kick assery. If I do this RP, I'd control the OPFOR and design the environments. I'd also like to know if I am in control of the OPFOR, if I'm allowed to also control a member of the squad? If not, that's still fine.
Anyway, any thoughts? Questions? Not sure what to say, the idea still needs a lot of work. >.>

Sniper, signing on with some good ol' M14 madness.

The M249 is my preferred weapon on both AA and CoD4. I went through actual training with a clan on all of the weapons on AA, resulting in the M4 being my second best, but the M249 is still my best. And on AA, it's only got an iron sight, not a scope like in CoD4.

COD4, I'd say I go straight for the M4(SOPMOD; I has no Live) and the G36. The SAW is too slow(I like to engage at medium-closeish range and I prefer aiming down the sights over hipfire.) going into its sights, so I take more shots from my enemy than I'd like to before I can shoot back. With the assaults and submachine guns I can pop in and out real quicklike.

The SAW, slow? Do you have any idea the rate of fire on that thing? A veritable dragon's breath of one thousand 5.56x45mm NATO rounds per minute. This is supported by 200-round drums, so that unless you're an absolutely horrid shot and just spray everywhere, you'll have plenty of bullets to last you through nearly any fight. The long barrel means that it makes for an incredibly accurate weapon if you pace your shots.

Not what I meant. I'm talking about the time to go in and out of the sights, not rpm. Of course that would be horribly high. It is an LMG. >_> And the bullet count isn't much to make up for its massive reload time; the only way to really make up for it is to carry along a submachine gun or assault rifle. Of course, I'm only talking COD4. Never really ran into America's Army anywhere.

It's more realistic than CoD4 and was made by the US Army, originally for training purposes. In fact, you have to go through the same training the soldiers go through before you can do anything but the most basic maps and the unmodified M16. It has no story mode, but its maps are extensive and even customizable. The biggest benefit? It's free. You can download it online for free, pick up a free disc from any recruiter's station or pay $5.00 for shipping and handling to have them mail you a disc.
As for the M249, you should rarely have to reload if you're firing it appropriately, and if you're using it with proper strategies, keeping distance and cover, reloading should be an easy feat to pull off.

Yeah, AA was my favorite shooter, loved that game to death. I abused the crap out of the M203 xD I also remember playing modded versions, we would have low grav + 20 incindieries. You'd cook them untill they were almost ready to blow up and throw them and it was like casting fireballs. XD
I'm thinking about getting a lot of ideas from that game.
COD4 was great and all but generally unrealistic. The M60 isn't a gun you go carry around generally it's put on hummers. Also, bullets are bullets in general. It doesn't take three headshots from p90 to kill someone in real life >_>
The SAW was made as a surpressive weapon on the most part. Aim it down range, put out your bipod, and give cover fire. Of course, I've seen some crazy modded SAWs as well, they can be used for a lot of things.
I'm thinking on the most part though, the RP will have people using modded M4s. SAWs are there too. M9s if you want them. I'll set a limit on what you can equip and give an equipment list. Some equipment may be weighted, and stuff like that.
Other weapons I'll consider: M24 sniper rifle M82 Barrett, though keep in mind, this weapon is also an anti-armor weapon. Javelin missile system MK12 SPR M136 AT4 M141 Bunker Defeat Munition (BDM) More stuff as well if you want it.
edit: Oh, and a variety of explosives and grenades and such.

I hate it when people abuse the M204. It's like, why are you even playing? I play AA for realism. If I wanted to see people shoot blindly across the map and take cheap shots like cowards (it really takes no skill, especially on straight maps like Bridge Crossing, to just look up and shoot five seconds into the match), I'd play Halo with the fanboys or something.
Don't get me wrong, I'm crazy good with the M204, mostly because the last gun you want to give me on any shooter is a grenade launcher, but for crying out loud, people, it's a REALISM game. The n00bs that sit there and 'nade five seconds in, then just sit there and laugh at you when you get onto them need to go back to their Halo and stuff. They don't care about squat but their points. Screw the fact that the rules on the map are against it in the first place. Just because a mod isn't there, they go right ahead and do it. There's no honor, there's no respect. Just a bunch of punks looking for the cheapest points.
Sorry, rant over. And yeah, the SAW is a supressive weapon. Point it, pull the trigger, and mow over anything in your path, that's what it's for. But selective firing instead of just blindly soaking the field in lead can be very rewarding.

I knew how to drop shot, and spam shot, but I felt they were just a blind shot of faith, and didn't like them. I was crazy good with the M203 in general. Especially on Radiotower, that was my favorite. I loved just being able to hear people, know where they were, and set up a shot. There was this guy running in the valley about 500 meters away from me running in the opposite direction, I set up my shot and 3 seconds later he ran right into it when it landed. xP
I was also a crazy good sniper, I could sometimes snipe through fog using only the tracers from someone's gun. God, I miss that game. They upgraded it too much so I couldn't play it on my computer anymore. :<

D: M14, M21. DO IT. America loves those guns.
Also, back onto the rp, I'd say go for the Army Rangers approach. It'd make the most sense; if I remember correctly and the Military Channel doesn't lie, Rangers get to pick and choose their weapons.

Alright then. I thought the typical Ranger weapon was an M4 though D:
I'm much more informed on Special Forces, so I'd have to read up on the Rangers a bit to get a feel for them.

The M4 is more the preferred; it's small and compact, so Rangers like it. But back to my point of view: since I'm running around as the sniper, I'd prefer something other than the overkill of the M82; anti-armor engagements are uncommmon in the kinds of conflicts we'd be presumably wading into.
