"You know, for someone that despises humans so much, you don't have much of a problem bowing your head to one." Karen said dryly.
*Park*
"Ugh, cut it out!" Ixion demanded. "Those tears are making me nauseous. Get rid of them before I carve your eyes out, Morphaeus."
Ironically, Ixion was preparing his own attack too. His sword levitated into the air, silently moving around so that it was set to launch into Morphaeus.
*Other Side of Park*
"Now, why would we do that?" Wattson asked. "Besides, you have her under your custody, don't you?"

The power of her captor was quickly brought back to attention as he let out a low growl. "Now, what are you babbling about?"
*Park*
She sniffed twice as if in disbelief before breaking out into full-blown tears. "Ixie, what's wrong with you? Why do you hate me so much?"
Under the cover of the tears, the spearlike tentacle shot forward from behind Ixion, not making a sound as it moved to impale him from the back.
*Other Side of the Park*
"I'm no instructor," the white ranger answered with a shrug, "but most would consider that initiative to start talking."

"You and your friends." Karen said. "Is it customary to bend over backwards for some human twerp like the ones topside?"
*Park*
"Because, you-" Ixion was cut off as he felt a direct hit, the tentacle completely impaling him. He coughed as he looked down at his chest. "Son... of a..." He weakly cursed as he glared at Karen.
*Other Side of the Park*
"Or else what?" Wattson asked darkly. "You kill her? Isn't that a little dark for a group of kids like you?"

"I bend over to no human," Alluvius growled threateningly as he loomed over her.
*Park*
The tears faded, and Karen smirked confidently for just a moment before she shifted back into the General and the tentacle ripped back out of him. "You allowed yourself to be distracted, boy," Morphaeus told him. "A warrior is always aware of his surroundings. He never allows himself to be distracted by anything."
He hammered an enlarged fist into Ixion's face to send him sliding backwards along the ground and off of his feet before stalking toward him again. "Until you learn that, it won't matter how powerful you become. You will always fail against one who has." The General pulled a tab from a small satchel in his uniform and painfully forced the boy's mouth open before dropping it in. "That has the powers of my Lady Kara. It will tend to your wounds so that you will survive. You still have more to learn before your days end. And may it be in a more important endeavor than in pursuit of vengeance."
*Other Side of the Park*
"Worse," the red ranger answered with a tone just as dark. "We'll convert her."

"Then what do you call that little display back there, hmm? Love?" Karen asked.
*Park*
"Any particular reason why you're keeping me alive?" Ixion asked sourly, though not refusing the treatment.
*Other Side of the Park*
Wattson threw his head back and laughed. "I really doubt you could do that. Not everyone has that "inner good" you folk always yak about. And we know Karen certainly doesn't."

"What display are you talking about?" the earth dragon demanded testily.
*Park*
"Rest assured, it has nothing to do with mercy," Morphaeus answered coldly. "I've a feeling about you, boy. You're meant for something important, and this isn't it. You want a reason? This isn't your day to die."
*Other Side of the Park*
"That's irrelevant," the red ranger answered with such calm certainty it could only suggest that they had something else in mind.

"What? You mean you don't know?" Karen asked. She moved her hands behind her back and started fiddling with the metal bangle on her wrist.
*Park*
"Fine, fair enough." Ixion said, shakily getting to his feet. "So, this is the part where I say something tough and then skulk off, right?"
*Other Side of the Park*
Wattson raised an eyebrow. "Quite big talk, boy..." He said.

Alluvius reached forward to grasp the bangle between his thumb and index finger to keep her from fiddling with it. "You should be more specific if you want an answer, but if you were really so intelligent, you'd know that you're probably better off just being silent."
*Park*
"If you so desire," the General answered. "And by the way," he added as he started to walk off, his form shifting again, and the next moment, he was Melody again. "I wasn't lying when I said Karen was back there." And the girl in the leather jacket hurried off around the corner.
*Other Side of the Park*
"Do you doubt us?" the pink ranger asked, one hand on her hip.

"Mine..." Karen whined, pulling her arm away from Alluvius childishly. However, she stopped playing with the jewelery. She scowled up at the dragon. "Do I get to go home yet?"
*Park*
"Yeah, whatever..." Ixion muttered, not quite believing the demon's words. He turned back and walked away as well. His sword flew out and landed in his outstretched hand as he walked, shrinking down to a more portable size.
*Other Side of the Park*
"Yes, actually, I do." Wattson said dryly. "I think you're bluffing."

"Whenever you want," Alluvius answered, turning and pointing down a long, dark corridor with one hand as he reached up and broke off a chunk of a large rock with a gentle, green luminescence. "You will need this, though. Normal lighting will not function further in and there is too much of Mother Earth's energy here for you to teleport."
*Other Side of the Park*
"And yet you saw what happened when she tried to psionically assault us," the blue ranger pointed out.

"Oh, thank you." Karen said. "That'd be very helpful."
*Other Side of the Park*
"Yes, I did. So you can repel her, that doesn't mean you can change her mindset." Wattson argued.

"You give me a headache, little human," Alluvius answered as he handed her the rock, about two pounds and twice the size of her fist. "If you're leaving, I am the one that is thankful."
*Park*
Several of the rangers chuckled before the red one spoke again. "So I take it you're a betting man?"

"No," Wattson said. "I'm just calling it as it is."

As Alluvius had said, the tunnel was unnaturally dark, but also seemed well-worn. It seemed to have a very gradual incline and seemed to rotate.
*Park*
"And is, "as it is," something you're willing to put your friend's future on?"

Karen trudged onward, occasionally humming to herself to keep herself occupied. She kept the crystal high at all times, looking around at all times for signs of anything she should pay attention to.
*Park*
"Yes, because frankly, I don't think you have the guts to do anything to her." Wattson taunted.
