*Upstairs*
The Shadow Ranger had broken off immediately, opening doors as he passed to look within on either side of the hallway. As a result, he was covering more of the rooms, but was a bit behind the Guardians.
*Red Room*
Nala returned the thing's smile with a sweet one of her own easily and sincerely. After all, she had seen far worse things where she came from. "Hello," she replied to his own greeting.

"Excuse me?"
"I don't think it was Slimer." True twisted her lips to one side. "This stuff is more snail-traily."
Creeeeakk.
"Aspectus, I really think-"
"Commander, there's nothing in here. I'd swear- Ow!"
The psychic was interrupted by the couch he'd been looking under. A spring, a board, something had shot out of the fabric, struck him, barely missing his eye and straight across the cheek.
"Holy shit." He recoiled in shock, clutching his bleeding face, still swearing.
"Oh." True tilted her head as the blue fluid oozed around his fingers. "Com'ere, lemme see!"
As she said it, a floorboard suddenly whipped up, slapped Vic's leg.
*Red Room*
The hunched creature's teeth retracted, but he didn't otherwise move, even his lips, two thin, black outlines, were frozen.
"I love you." It said with a low rasp. Then its gaze flicked over to the digimon again. "And you may be the family dog."

Nala chuckled softly at that. "I don't think he'd like that too much."

"Would you like it?" It whispered to Nala.
Rush shifted her feet awkwardly, looking at the demon and back at the unidentified creature, but saying nothing.
*Upstairs*
The rooms all seemed exactly the same. Dark, but Jeff could see fine, a single black dresser, one broken porcelain doll in the corner. In each room, the exact same scene.
At the fifth was the porcelain doll, the black dresser... but here, wait, one alien device squatted in the center, blinking merrily.
Blinked red.

She seemed to think it over. "To be honest," she finally answered, "I've always been more of a German Shepherd girl, myself."
*Upstairs*
"Found one," the Shadow Ranger called down the hall as he shut the door again to track them down. "And it's red. I thought you said you had three unused ones and only one wasted?"

"I like foreign girls." It agreed, then shot Rush another warning glance. "But not you. I hate you."
She sighed through her nose testily, clasping her hands behind her back, a full set of silvery daggers. Lucubro shrugged and moved into the wall. Literally, walked into it and vanished. But the creature didn't seem to notice.
*Upstairs*
"Four unused." Nova corrected from down the hall. "Why? What do you mean, it's..." Now he'd come back, seen for himself. "Uh. Three, then. Either somebody came in here and screwed around, or..." He trailed off, not thinking of any other answer. "Amnis!"
"[What?]" The voice was faint.
"[Go tell one of the traitors what's up! They might know how to fix it.]"
"[Lazy ass.]"
"Let's just look for another." He said plainly, as if he hadn't heard her.

Nala gave him another smile. "Where are you from?"
*Upstairs*
Jeff just nodded and resumed his room-by-room search.

As Zoe took her hand, her stomach seemed to drop; her feet lost the ground, but she didn't fall. The world blurred and spun around them, a mob of warping colors of the world, then solid black for a brief instant, a flurry of orange, now white and cool.
Selena released her hand, still smiling. "Welcome to Deflagros!"
Deflagros was apparently a circular white room with one fat, low cylinder in the center. There was a high metal door in one end, but that was it for eye-catching features; even the lighting seemed to come from no particular source.
"Oh." Selena tapped her chin in thought. "Perhaps we arrived before the Guardians."
*Red Room*
"My dear mother made me." The creature sighed in reminiscence, then rose to its feet. Immediately, the room stank of rot.
It was a full seven feet in height, clad in pressed tan slacks and a buttoned-up suit jacket. Now his eyes were discernible, but hardly eyes at all, two wooden orbs with black circles painted onto them. He was bald, too, his skin too clear and veiny.
"I know where the plates go..."

Vic yelps loudly as the board smacks him right in the shin. He kicks the board, snapping it in half, then drops to one knee and clutches his ankle. " What the fuck? Owwwww"

Nala still seemed to be able to stay non-repulsed as she craned her neck up to follow him standing up. "Where?" she asked.

"I thought you said there were no traps?!" Mark said looking around, not sure where to step, it was obvious someone had been here earlier, he pulled out his USP expert from inside his coat, just to be safe.

Its eyes wiggled in their sockets before scraping over all of them again, looking expectant. He didn't answer her question, waiting for something else.
Impendo made a sick face and clutched his button nose. Rush was eye-raking the creature herself, feeling a little indignant.
*WEST*
"Are you okay?" True leaned over to see Vic's injury, completely forgetting her bleeding partner.
"There are no traps." Aspectus reaffirmed, even as his alien blood still dribbled around his fingers, watching the broken floorboard whimper back into place and heal over. In it's turn, the couch that had stuck him showed no tear or mark where the pointy aberration had shot out of it. "I'm fine, Commander, thank you. Are you alright, Vic Riot?"
"Uh, yeah. Look, Aspectus," True started to ask, but the psychic cut her off.
"There can't possibly be anyone here, Commander. I'm not getting anything. If there is something here, and I'm not getting it, we should all... probably..."
Thump... Thump. Thumpthumpthumpthump!
Both True and Aspectus had frozen at the noise, but she moved first. Sort of. Raising a slow hand to touch her head, slowly gripping the head of a nail. Pulling it out, inspecting it. "Wow."
"Commander?"
True turned sideways for him to see, ten such nails buried between her shoulders. "There's some stuck in my back. I can't reach. We should probably leave."
As she spoke, a chair next to Mark had a similar malfunction, firing an arm sideways at him.

" Well, at least we're fighitng a possesed house instead of some sort of gigantic steam powered robo tyrannosaurs."
Vic turns to a wall and punchs it as hard as he can, easily putting a hole through it. He withdraws his fist to see what happens to the wall

Mark scrambled to get his arms up to block the arm of the chair from impacting his body, but he was too slow, and the arm hit him in the chest, surprising him and knocking him down.
"I hate traps! Leaving is a GOOD idea." Mark said as hunched over, to avoid any nails to his forehead as he began walking towards the exit.

As predicted, when Vic drew his fist out of the wall, the cracks healed over and the hole started to pull itself back together... But didn't finish, firing out a mess of wires and ivy to entangle the hero's hand, then more, trying pull him into the wall.
"Agreed." True watched in morbid fascination.
The open doorway slammed shut to cut off Mark's escape, boards and drywall and ivy stretching out of the sides to block him. The center of the barrier thickened into the vague outline of a woman's body spread-eagled, the wood and wire face jutting forward, gaining features, jaw stretching out absurdly long to roar at them.
"Or we could keep looking, I guess." The android mumbled.
