*Arvia vs Shawn*
"I see," Arvia said, her melodic yet droning voice sounding rather disappointed but no less angry. "So the flesh is determined interfere despite all warnings. Typical. I might have forgiven it, but this talk has been bought with all the patience I have to spend on it. Now the flesh will be rendered to the earth for it's transgressions!"
The ground began to quake as Arvia vaulted herself back into the forrest canopy. In another instant, a towering root erupted from the ground like a giant worm that slowly coiled back, preparing to smite the arrogant trespasser with a crushing blow.

*Arvia vs Shawn*
"Scyther, Cut!" Shawn commanded as he hurled the ball forward, and in a flash of light and a zip of green, the bug pokemon emerged, its scythe-like forearms razor-sharp, cutting through the root as it came down with ease.
"Sssssssss-Scyther!" it shouted in defiance.
"Yeah," Shawn agreed. "It'll take more than a root to route Team Rocket!"

*Arvia vs Shawn*
The severed half of the once mighty root collapsed into the underbrush while the rest withdrew back into the earth. The commotion added to the cacophony of frightened and shirking jungle creatures that fled from the battle by way of wing and vine alike. "So I see," Arvia said thoughtfully as she relaxed upon a high branch, watching. "This flesh is one of the collectors. Come to encapsulate and enslave. The jungle shale reclaim it's children."
True to the guardian's cryptic warning, a legion of serpent like vines reached out of the surrounding vegetation to ensnare the unfortunate Scyther, a dozen for every limb and from every direction. Still perched upon her branch, Arvia made herself comfortable as she looked on from high.

But Scyther was known for his speed, and though the vines shot in, the light flashing off of his blades were blinding as they danced with incredible Agility, slicing through them as quickly as they came for him.
Meanwhile, Shawn had set up another tactic. Before ever entering, he had set Pidgeot on the wing, flying above the forest in the hopes doing so would put him out of the sensory range of the guardian, or at least blend in with other birds. Now, in a command that seemed directed at Scyther, he ordered, "Sky Attack."
With a cry from the air, Pidgeot shot down with incredible speed and power at the perched guardian, who was looking down at the battle below instead of the incoming bird of prey.

*Arvia vs Shawn*
Arvia's jungle-touched body tingled with the threat coming from above. She needn't have looked to see the great bird as it dove toward her. It's cry was plain enough for any creature to hear, but the guardian could sense how much it's plunging attack disrupted the naturally peaceful aura of her domain. Such disruption was added to the mounting debt of sins the flesh collector had already accrued, and it displeased the guardian greatly.
Something other than muscle allowed the formerly human woman to spring from her perch an instant before it was shattered to splinters. The brief moment she spent in the air gave her ample to spiritually commune with the tree that had been so grievously wounded on her behalf, and she morned for it's suffering. While still in the proverbial infancy that followed her transformation, Arvia had learned never to mistake the wild's obedience for subservience. The plants of the jungle could just as well manipulate her as she could them.
In fairness and duty to the infinite tapestry of life that had reshaped her, Arvia dropped from the shady canopy to a soft, crouched landing in the leaf litter below, directly before the collector. A narrow shaft of sunlight seemed to have followed her decent, lending a soft radiance to her glossy green body. She smiled, reveling in her own magnificence as she stood and confidently stared him down. She could have ended the battle then and there. With a prick of her finger nails the boy would lignify and her jungle with his life. Such an end would come to him sure enough, but not before a lesson in the respect that was due to her as the will of the wood.
"You will come last," she promised, before turning to leap at Scyther with frightening speed.

*Arvia vs Shawn*
Shawn didn't even flinch as he met the woman's stare with his own. He was not one who would be stared down or intimidated.
As the woman showed promise of coming for him again, Scyther almost seemed to be grinning with a hunger for battle. "SCY-THER!" he declared as she dashed for him before running in to clash, as well. As a Bug pokemon, his techniques were ideal for tearing through plants, and she was so much greenery just waiting for a trim. He came in quick for a False Swipe, a blow aimed not for a lethal spot, but because of its trickery nearly impossible to dodge.
From the sky, Pidgeot came in on her from behind with Aerial Ace, a potent move of the Flying type that would strike her without error, as well. There would be no dodging for her this time.

Karen raised her hand to hush the roaring crowd, although the enthralled slaves playing massive organs already did that for her.
"I still don't understand why you're dressed like that." Epsilon droned.
Karen looked back at her robotic companion, the dark robes she had on swishing as she did. "Hey, according to my research, big ominous gods are now in. Hence the spooky music and the ominous gestures. ANYWAYS. To exemplify my point, I have scheduled a fight between such a god and Star Peacefire. His name was... uh... Zar... Zal.... Uh... something with a Z. Regardless, they should be fighting in a sunken ampitheatre."

The amphitheater was dark and lit only by sporadically placed torches in the derelict though intricately carved walls. The air reeked with a faint smell of long burnt incense and the scent of ancient blood. A faint breeze blew through the massive chamber and a faint taste of a power that was strange and alien came with it.
The faint taste of power grew stronger and then atop an ancient altar of black stone a figure appeared. Richly garbed in robes of intricate black and silver and with a massive lidless eye emblazoned on the front of the robes the figure was an imposing sight. A feeling of despair seemed to settle over the interior of the amphitheater as Zaltias spoke. "So child of the one who sealed my here you have come. I do not believe we have been introduced. Though if you know of history you likely know of me." A faint chuckle and the light of one of the torches played over his slightly blue tinted face for a moment. A faint smile was on his lips.

*Star vs Zaltias*
Another light source filled the ampitheater with a light red, flickering like a giant candle had entered the room. That candle was the Chosen One of Heaven, the warrior who was hand-selected by God to do battle with evil. She dressed plainly for the power she possessed, simply a white t-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers, and the outline of a sports bra could just barely be made out under the shirt. She strode steadily forward, the sheer power she was putting out cracking the ancient stonework underfoot with each step as the energy that lit up like a burning, red fire around her whipped her hair about.
"You sure think highly of yourself," she told him in reply. "Either that or you just can't cope with the reality that you're nothing but a wannabe nobody. Heck, you're barely worth me coming down here for. What, exactly, do you hope to prove?"

*Star VS Zaltias*
Zaltias kept his grinning facade up and though his face didn't show it the insult had struck a bit of nerve. Though one he could keep suppressed for now. He lifted a graceful elegant hand in a slow wave. "There is no need for insults at this stage. We are not yet introduced properly. I know you but it would seem you barely know of me." He chuckled lightly again, though this time it was slightly more strained.
Zaltias spoke in a grand voice and the room echoed with it, despair screamed from the rafters and echoed from the walls. "I am Zaltias Lord of the Immortal Despair" He paused for a moment and then spoke again in the lower tone. "I do believe proper protocol is to shake hands as well before a duel, so after you introduce yourself I suppose that would be the next step."

But Star just scoffed at him. "Hon, if you thought that was an insult, you're not going to last five verbal minutes. And I know of you just fine. You're some dark, demony guy that thinks he's all that and has it out for my boss because you think you should be the one up there instead of him. Really, you're not exactly unique. There's THOUSANDS of beings out there that think the same thing. You're not even my first over-prettified one."
She crossed her arms under her chest as she turned to one side. "And Lord of the Immortal Despair? What, they run out of bumper stickers with real titles on them? Even the Lord of Torrential Downpours sounded better. What's your schtick, you make people cry? That's weak, man. That's really weak."

*Star VS Zaltias*
Zaltias sighed and shook his head slowly. "My dear, if you think that I am a demon then you are much misinformed. Go ahead bring out some of that holy power and cast some anti-demonic magic at me." His hand came up again in a rather resigned gesture. "Despair is more than making people cry girl, That is sorrow. Despair is the true death of hope, of love, of all that makes life worth living. That is nothing to sneeze at."
His raised hand made a slight twisting gesture in the air and a feeling of wrongness swept through the room. It was not good, or evil, what Zaltias summoned simply was. A great sword appeared in his hand. Fear's Razor. The sword gleamed in the faint light and the glowing silver veins in the darkness were augmented by the baleful yellow glare from the pommel. "If you truly know of me than tell me what truly am"

But Star just chuckled as she held her right arm out, perpendicular with her shoulder. "You really want me to tell you what you are, Zaltias?" she asked as crimson lightning crackled down the length of her arm, lancing out into the air beyond her grip as it solidified into a longsword of her own. "Do you really want to know?"
Star twirled the sword about, displaying her skill with the blade before ending with it behind her in a ready stance. She raised her voice as she shouted across the ampitheater. "YOU'RE A LOSER!!!"
She dashed off to one side, moving so fast that the man likely wouldn't even be able to follow her movements, a stream of energy streaking behind her as the only (very delayed) sign of her travel. She shot around behind him, kicking off a wall to send herself launching at him, her sword held up to cleave down at him from behind, all in a minescule fraction of a millisecond.

*Star VS Zaltias*
Zaltias on general principles when an enemy he knew to be capable began to scream battle cries and adopt a ready stance, was not going to sit around and wait to be cut down. As star finished the last word of her shout Zaltias faded out. Star likely given her own momentum would carve through the stone alter where he had stood.
His voice boomed from around the room. "I must say my dear a most valiant effort. Though so clearly showing you are about to attack is not the wisest strategy in combat." For less than a second a faint outline of Zaltias showed on the far side of the massive chamber and then he was again simply everywhere. "And yes technically you are correct I have lost, that I admit. But that doesn't mean I always lose." Again Zaltias seemed almost to appear but this time unlike the previous times he actually did. A wall of the strange not quite right energy erupted from where he had stood and from floor to ceiling swept towards Star.

*Star vs Zaltias*
Star landed from the cleave with enough force to send up stone and debris as if a meteor had struck, but she stood without strain amongst the ruins of the altar. "If I really cared about whether you got out of the way or not," she answered his lecture, "I would have done something else. As it stands, you're not even enough of a challenge for me to care."
Her gaze went right to him the moment he resolidified himself, and she seemed to just watch as he unleashed the wave of power. Right before it would have connected, however, she vanished, reappearing behind him in the same instant, her hand stretched out toward his exposed back as her own energy flared up.
"My turn."
That was all she said, perhaps not even enough time for him to get a good, "Oh Sh--" face on before her own wave of ki blasted out from the palm of her hand in an eruption great enough to engulf him entirely.
