First off, this rp is officially closed off to new participants.
Alright, so I'd love to post links to the last two pages (26 & 27) of the old roleplay, but they seem to have disappeared. This makes it a little tougher. Here's a condensed recap of what's happened so far that our characters know about, to refresh our memories:
...and that's where we begin again.
It didn't take long for Kevin to find what he was looking for; within one of the inner pockets of the dead man's robe was the brilliant blue gem, completely intact without so much as a hint of a scratch, even from the tumbling fall the man had taken. As he drew it out of the pocket and into his own hand, though, it felt as if it started to grow exceedingly fragile, and after a few seconds of sitting in his hand, it felt like merely the slightest squeeze could cause the blue stone to shatter into millions of pieces...even if he knew it wouldn't.
Actually, this one seemed to resonate with a bright inner, electrical glow, as if it had absorbed some part of the electrical blast that had killed its owner; tiny electrical sparks danced around inside the "confines" of its glossy exterior, begging to be released.
Alright, so I'd love to post links to the last two pages (26 & 27) of the old roleplay, but they seem to have disappeared. This makes it a little tougher. Here's a condensed recap of what's happened so far that our characters know about, to refresh our memories:
Jeremiah was called to investigate a disturbance in Chicago and brought Crystal along; Mattaias was in the same area for the same reason. They met at the carnage Koh had wraught, and found the indestructable Kevin Newground. They talked about themselves and what was going on until the ground split open and several zombie-things began to crawl out. Jeremiah and Mattaias fended off the creatures while Crystal sealed the fissure.
They then followed an aura residue Mattaias had picked up and went into one of the wrecked buildings. On the second floor, they found themselves facing a very acidic blob-creature that seemed to be guarding a red swirly portal of light. After they had received a couple minor acid burns, Crystal froze and shattered the blob-creature. Then, after using Kevin to test the conditions on the other side and some quick reactions on Crystal's part, they went through the portal and evaded a couple "CIA" agents that had followed them.
They found themselves on a field next to a cliff overlooking the city. Around them were many dead cows, their blood still warm, each killed through multiple grevious puncture wounds. The followed large, heavy footprints off into the field until the reached a rural road and a cottage, inside which a strange group of people could be seen and heard. Jeremiah and Crystal went up and, lying that they were passing through, their car broke down, and they needed to use the phone to get in touch with someone, were able to get inside to get a quick glimpse of the mysterious group while Crystal planted a crystal inside the building, through which she would be able to hear what was going on inside when they left.
After spying on them for a time, the group came up with a plan that would allow them to gather more information about the people in the cottage. After Mattaias disguised himself using a robe made of crystals, fashioned by Crystal, he and Kevin went forth to confront the people in the cottage. After a convincing display of force and words, the learned that the gorup was some form of cult and that they had just performed some sort of ritual.
Meanwhile, Crystal and Jeremiah were listening in at a safe distance thanks to the aid of the small crystal that had been left inside the cottage. However, they were found by an exceptionally large "person", the Durchgehen Jäger, and found out. Soon after, Mattaias and Kevin's cover was blown, and the two groups met in a confrontation.
The group of four was immediately frozen by the cultists' magics. Crystal, thatnks to a property of her ability to control and create gems, unfroze herself and errected a barrier around the other three that promptly unfroze them. After that, during a short, but hard-won battle, Jeremiah, with some assistance from Kevin, was able to wound the Hunter enough to force it to retreat, as well as "kill" the apparent ringleader of the small cultist group. Crystal froze most of the rest inside a large crystal casing, and repelled and killed two would-be attackers.
Mattaias tried to take down the last remaining cultist, but his attempt backfired and injured his back. However, he was able to disable the mystery man with a gunshot to the leg, and the group of four soon found out that this man was an arrogant mercenary that went by the name of "Mephisto", and had infiltrated the cult for almost the same reasons that they had for being out there. They learned of the cult's leaders, and of their plan to perform a ritual that, if completed, could spell doom for the entire planet.
They also found out that Mephisto had a special gem that created a glowing red vortex of a portal to a predetermined place as a sort of "death warp", but that saying a certain phrase would create a similar portal that led straight to the cult's main lair, and this give them enough time to stop the nearly completed ritual. Unfortunately, Mephisto insisted on performing the act himself, much to Jeremiah's dislike, who shot the mercenary in the shoulder to get him to drop the gem, while Crystal tried to form a pedestal of gems to keep the extraordinarily fragile gem from shattering; it didn't work, and the gem was wasted as it created a death warp.
All hope in stoping the ritual was temporarily lost as it seemed the world was doomed. The mood didn't last long, however, as Kevin remembered what mephisto had said about every member in the cult being given one. After sharing his realization with the rest of the group, he began to search the body of one of the two cultists Crystal had killed...
