"The cloudiness in my head's cleared up." Lucian said. "Everything's sinking back in, and the world's stopped spinning." The knight's tone went bitter. "In other words, no."

The human knight nodded in understanding. "Well, maybe helping me in this hunt will get your mind off of things? Perhaps in the process, we can find the portal that took you here and get you back to your post."

"If killing was a better way to remove my problems than drowning them, I would've cut down those nauseating obnoxious palace gaurds." Lucian said flatly.

"Not killing," Maxwell corrected. "Hunting. Think about it. Challenges so tough, they'll all you'll have time to think about."

"Isn't deciding to aid two strangers on their way home, despite knowing that it might decimate his own home enough challenge to ask from one man?" Lucian grumbled. Nonetheless, though, he looked back at the request board. "I'll need to trim myself and bathe later. I look more like a hobo than a knight."
And he was right, too. His face showed that the man was worse for wear, and his smell didn't aid his image either.

"We're going into the desert," Max reminded him. "You'll smell worse than that by the time we get back."

"Hence why I said later." Lucian said. "And even if I don't look like a knight, I can still fight like one. It's a good thing I wasn't enough of a fool to sell my sword and armour."

"Very much so," Maxwell agreed. "I could loan you one of mine, but you don't look the type for a hand-and-a-half sword. Ready to go, then?"
(Think we should timelapse to where Toriji is, since two highly-trained warriors, one of which comes from a race of druids and the other feels nice and comfy in even the hottest desert, could surely make better progress than a blind lizard boy?)

Ah'del turned as he heard the armor clanking behind him, not imperial by any means. "No doubt this is the Red-clad One and his friend with the drinking problem." He turned his head to them. "If so, good to see you've found your way so easily."

(Well, you certainly shouldn't have leapt to travelling all the way there, finding the mark and actually being ready to kill it ...)
"No sweat," Maxwell assured him, and indeed, despite walking through the desert in full plate, not a drop of sweat was on him. In fact, the temperature to him was quite comfortable, as the heat of the desert was absorbed by his armor and only served to sustain him. "Seen any giant red chickens yet?"

"Oh man..." Said a young warrior a ways from Maxwell "You guys are looking for it too? I didn't think this many people would sign up for the competition..." He said all this obviously doubting his own skills. "Last I saw it," He began " It was down near the outpost, it runs pretty fast though so you better kill it quickly. "He held his head in his palm "Curse my generous nature, I'm giving tips to the enemy!"

"No worries," Maxwell assured him with a thumbs up. "I'm a fair player. If I can ever return the favor, you can be sure I will."
He clapped Lucian on the back. "Think you can track a chocobo through sand?"

*Desert*
"And I'll be sure to buy you a drink for it later." Lucian said deviously to the young man. He then brought his attention back to Maxwell. "I could track a moogle in a room full of giant cotton puffs, I'm sure I could track down some chocobo. Even if I have a drinking problem." Lucian spat out the last two words for the Bangaa's sake, using a tone that shouted "this drunkard will beat your ass if you push it".
*Elsewhere, that... that city that's floating and is used for mining.... Can't remember the name*
Mia sighed in frustration, looking out from the plaza she was in, seeing nothing but sky.
She was lost.
It was amazing, she could never disappear when she wanted to, but as soon as she actually wanted to go somewhere... The dragon princess shook her head. She was probably better off not going to a pub, anyways. If her mothers had found out that she wanted to go to such a place, she'd never hear the end of it. Farrah would scold her to no end and Cassandra would ask her things that would be.... questionable subject manner for a mother-daughter discussion. But then, Mia's experience at the palace in the city she was in last told her that at the moment, her parents and her were seperated. Mia didn't try to worry about it much. She would probably end up back home in time. That's how it happened before. At the moment, Mia's primary concern was the monster hunting competition. A bit of her uncle came out when she heard of it, and she was now looking for a pub to get details.
However, since her search took her to a totally different city at a completely different altitude, one can assume she wasn't doing a great job.

*Galtea Downs*
"Spunky, eh? No worries. I myself am quite a heavy drinker." He pointed to the northwest. "I believe that we would do well to search in that direction. The cactites that the Chocobo eats dwell in that general area."

"Now.... I don't know if you want to go over there... Last i saw an Gnoma Entite was there and those things are pretty dang nasty.. it won't attack you if you don't attack it but if you attack any of the animals around it, it'll see see that as an excuse to hurt you pretty badly.." The man paused looking down, "If ya asked me THAT's what we should be huntin'..."
