"Heh, figures, kupo." Said a moogle sitting on top of a fair-skinned Vieras head "So this is all we get eh? a big poster with some rules?" The Veria said, obviously disgusted, "I don't know why I expected more, we're a bunch of monster hunters, there's no reason they should, you know, give us a big meeting or something more informational. "Don't worry about it, kupo" the moogle said, it's pom-pom blowing in the wind "Lets check the bar for all the marks and their points kupo, we may find more information there kupo." The Viera began walking back down the stairs she came from "We better, or I'm not going to be happy." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WELCOME TO THE MARK HUNTING CHAMPIONSHIPS! Rules: Marks:This is a competition of who can hunt down the most menacing monsters over the course of the competition, most marks must be brought dead but others can be brought alive. Bhur Omisace, Archades, and the Port at Balfonhiem, there are also outposts in The Northern Osmone Plains, Southern Tichita Uplands, the Ogir Yensa Sandsea, and the Dalmasca eastersand. You may NOT turn in monsters at outposts but they can provide easier transport to the nearest town. Teams: You may work alone or form teams all teams must have a name and prizes and prize money may be distributed amongst the teammates. Other participants: IT IS AGAINST THE RULES TO STEAL A CAPTURED (or killed) MARK FROM A PARTICIPANT AFTER THEY HAVE TURNED IT IN TO AN OUTPOST! Beyond this, anything goes. Other: Map of Ivalice, Large towns and outposts are circled Map1Map of Ivalice, Commercial airship routes Red= Archades flights Green= Nalbina flights Yellow= Balfonhiem flights purple= Mt. Bhur Omisace flights Black= Rabanastre flights Blue=Bhujerba flights Map2-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok guys, you can start your characters in any of the major cities listed above, the rules I typed appear on the poster, all of which are in every major city. After they digest the poster, they should head to a bar to check out the first mark they should hunt, it should flow smoothly from there, as soon as I find one, I'll post a map of Ivilice, have fun and check this post for changes!

*Lowtown*
Ah'del looked down from the railing he was leaning on at the children of his childhood friends. He watched fondly as the played in the shallow waters around the central bridge. "How the years have passed. My, my it's been far too long." He turned away and began to walk to the door to South Gate.
As he was passing by old Dalan's place he noticed a poster. It was barely on the wall, a corne hanging down in front of it, but it was obviously new. He grabbed it and returned to walking out the large door. He was a slow reader and had made it to the Moogling spire before he was half-way done. "The usual," He spoke to the attendant, of who he saw quite often. He didn't even stop walking, but he was soon at the doors of the Sandsea. Even as he pushed them open he was still reading. "Hey, Tomaj. Get me something strong." He sat down at the bar, catching the mug as it slid down to him. "Thanks."
He finished reading, tooka long draught from the mug and slammed it down afterwards. "A Mark Championship, huh?" He smiled as he reread the rules. "Perfect. I'm sure Montblancll be happy if he has the winner in Centurio." He walked down to the Tavernmaster to have him tell him of his first mark.

Another figure had come in just before Ah'del, clad in red plate with gold trim and with a large sword and some sort of tube crossed in an X over his back. He had ordered a lighter drink, closer to fruit juice than mead, but gave a scoff at the man's claims. "Whoever he is, I'm sure he would," the young man answered. "But the requirement is first, you would have to win."

"Ah" Tomaj said "You two are interested in the championships too eh? I've had quite a few patrons come by here talking about it, "If you want the first mark, the details are over on the back wall, it has all the details you'll need"
The board had a rather crude drawing of a red chocobo on it, under which it read: "Demon Chocobo. It has been terrorizing the Dalmasca Eastersands for quite some time, making it difficult for travelers to travel between here and Nalbina without going underground via the Barhiem passage. You can usually find it looking for food in the Westersand, it seems to like the small cactus monsters quite a bit..."

Maxwell got up and went over to examine the poster. "Chocobo, huh? I remember those. Last one I saw, though, was yellow." He looked back over toward Tamaj. "I'm not from the area, though. Do you know anyone who can sell me a map of the sands so I can find my way to the Westersand?"

"Q-quite th- arrrissss work." A slurred voice asked. "Y' d-draw that y'self?" A man dressed from head to toe in very effective armour stumbled up to Tomaj. His white hair bobbed in front of his face as he wobbled in place. A mug was tightly held in the knight's hand. Suddenly, the man made a wild spin and looked back at Maxwell.
"Oy! Maxie! Wha're you d-doin' 'ere? I thought y'went back to your own place... Ba-Ba-Bathelon!" The knight tumbled over his own feet, faceplanting into the floor.
"Maxie? Did I fall down? My face hurts..."

*Tavern*
The Guardian could only blink in surprise at the appearance of the drunkard, but after he landed, he leaned down next to him. "Lucian? What in the name of the Dragon happened to you? What are you doing here, wasted out of your mind like this?"

*The Sandsea-tavern*
Ah'del's beak drooped at the sight of such a meager hunt. " A chocobo, that's it. Well, I suppose they have to weed out the weaklings somehow." He walked by both of the strangers on his way to the door. "If you'll follow this road all the way to the end and take a right, you'll find yourself in the central plaza." He spoke over his shoulder the red-clad man. "There you'll find a moogle who will sell you a map." He headed out the door toward the central plaza himself.

*Westersands*
"Hrm. It feeds on cactoids, eh?" He looked across the horizon as he was walking away from the gate. "They're only found in Galtea Downs around here. Lucky me, that's right here." He walked out into the center of the area and scanned the horizon some more until a red tailfeather poked up ito sight. "Here we go." He pulled out his axe and sword, ready to confront the menace.
[I'm a little hesitant to attack. Can we jus go ahead and kill it?]

(How about you not timelapse yourself ahead an entire journey and prevent anyone else from taking a shot at it? I find that highly offensive. In the time it took Lucian to answer Maxwell, you apparently crossed an entire city and half a desert and already found the mark. Don't tell me you don't see any problems with that, because if you don't, you need your eyes checked.)
*Tavern*
Maxwell put his hand on the shoulder of the man he once socked in the face. "Sounds to me like you've had your first taste of interdimensional travel, my friend. We're probably in a closely parallel dimension to yours. Bervenia still exists, the Guard still exists. Everything you know still exists. You just have to get back to it."

(I believe it was Gerard that socked Lucian, but hey.)
Lucian's glazed eyes blinked. "Ri-right. So get th' prince an' we'll find a Totterma an' blow 'm th' bloo-eh 'ell -hic- up." He stammered, staggering back to his feet. "'Ga'mon, 'en. I'll ride the chicaboo, you're too drun'...."

Maxwell chuckled as he helped stabilize his friend. "I think there might be an easier route this time." He pulled a bottle of some sort of red liquid, smelling somewhat like berries and eucaliptus when he opened it, from a satchel at his side and held it before Lucian. "Here, drink up. It'll clear your head and stave off the splitting headache you're going to have in a few hours otherwise."

"I think I've had enough to drin'...." Lucian said. He took the bottle anyways. "But if you're buyin', I cou' 'ave one..." The knight started to chug the entire bottle down.

The potion, being magical in nature, would take effect immediately, and Maxwell accepted the empty bottle back from him. "Feel any better?"
