Alright, old topic, but hey, I've downloaded a lot so I should give my input. I will not give that much background to the games because you can simply read their back story in the game description before downloading it. I want to be as brief with each game, giving you a general idea of my experience and thoughts on the game.
I will Review the games in the order that I downloaded them
Toejam and Earl: An oldie from way back in 1991... I think... this is a charming game about casually exploring the area, opening mystery presents, and having fun. At least until the later levels when the game becomes one of survival. If you have a buddy, I strongly, strongly recommend this game as you must work together to survive the human world. If by yourself otherwise, maybe not so much.
Toejam and Earl 2: Panic on Funkatron: While not as highly regarded as the first, this is what I feel is still a strong side scroller. As stated, this game isn’t so much about exploration as it is about getting from point a to point b. I may be biased, but this is quite a fun sequel to the first, and can be even more fun if you bring a friend.
Streets of Rage 2: Note, I did not get this on the wii, I got it on the 360, however this is one of the major classics that defined the system. It can be fun, A LOT of fun, by yourself or with friends. A strong, strong recommendation
Streets of Rage 3: If you are a die hard beat’em up fan that has to play every beat'em up, then this is probably will be worth your money. Otherwise, the extreme difficulty and having less charm than the original may not be worth your money. Get only if you reall really like Beat'm Ups or Streets of Rage 2
Ristar: I've heard great things about this game, being made by sonic team during the golden days of sonic, one would expect this game to ooze greatness. Sadly I lost interest past the second level... I tried to play it, but maybe some games are easier to get into than others.
Gunstar Heroes: If you going to play by yourself, than get it. If you are going to play with a friend, then get it even faster. Unless you have an utter distaste to side scrolling shooters, mass explosions, and action packed game play, then this should be one of the first games you get for your wii.
Super Mario Brothers 3: Now, I've never had the joy of owning an NES, but I've heard many tales of the greatness of this game. Those tales live up the hype. While I have not beaten it yet, this game is extremely addicting, and immensely fun to play. Another High recommendation.
Ninja Gaiden: The cut scenes are great, and the gameplay looks amazing, but in practice, eh. I know that there are legions of fans over this game, but after playing more than halfway, I just couldn’t get into it, though that is just personal opinion more than anything. You may very well enjoy this game a ton more than me.
King of the Fighters 94: I may have been spoiled by the newer KoF games, but I cant simply play this game. The controls are difficult, and I find the difficulty unnecessary. Someone may disagree with me, but I suggest avoiding this game.
River City Ransom: Another jewel of the NES library, not many people may be familiar with this game. I played through and beat the game on my own, which was nice, nothing to write home about, but playing it with a friend increased the gameplay dramatically. Like Toejam and Earl, this game is good, but truly shines in cooperative with a friend.
Shining Force: An early RPG for the sega genesis, the graphics most likely impress you, however this tactical RPG has some very immersing gameplay. If you like RPGs, then this is a game I recommend for you.
Breath of Fire II: First and foremost, you need a classic controller to play this game, otherwise you are out of luck. Besides that, this is a hardcore JRPG. The graphics and sound are excellent, and the story so far (haven’t beaten it yet) has been quite intriguing. There is just one problem. The game is hard for an RPG, often times you will go to a boss, get your butt handed to you numerous times, then realize you need to be stronger and go grind for awhile. If you are willing to grit your teeth, than you will probably enjoy this game. However if you dislike constantly losing and grinding and grinding and grinding, then I suggest looking for a copy on the GBA, which had the difficulty lowered and such.
Beyond Oasis: Another RPG for the Sega Genesis, though this one is different from the previous two in that it is an action RPG. I haven’t played a lot of it yet, however the game has made me smile a few times, especially upon learning the commands for a new brutal combo, but as said, I haven’t played it that much, though I have heard that it can be short.
Alien Soldier: Released only in Japan and the HAL market, you probably have not played this game. Made by the same company that made Gunstar Heroes, if you liked that game, you will most likely like this game as well. It has the same number of explosions, similar gun types, and similar fast gameplay, except this game focuses a lot more on boss fights than the levels (which isnt a bad thing). One thing to note though, is that this game is complicated and hard, it will take you awhile to learn the controls well enough to beat the first boss, so be patient! It's a good game despite the learning curve. I should note, unlike gunstar heroes, it's only one player.
Mario Kart 64: I have always been a fan of the Mario Kart series (despite never playing Super Mario Kart) thus I was automatically drawn to rekindle my experience with Maro Kart 64. The game itself is still enjoyable after all these years. A good recommendation, but not necessarily my top one.
Paper Mario: Once more, you may need a Classic controller, though you may get away with it on a gamecube controller. If you like Mario, and you like RPGs, then this is a game for you. With original gameplay, a storyline delivered in a charming and humorous manner, this is one of those RPGs that really shines above others. Once more, I may be biased, but I've played and beaten this game over four times now (since when the game was released) and once I saw they made it available on the wii, acquired it immediately. A strong recommendation, unless you have something against Mario or RPGs.
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner): Technically this is my only true Wii-Ware game on the list. This game is kinda tricky. If you are a fan of Homestar Runner, you may or may not like this game. If you are a fan of Point and Click Adventure Games like Sam and Max, you may or may not like this game. If you are a fan of both, you will.... probably like this game. It's mostly meant for homestarrunner fans, and outsiders may have a difficult time enjoying the game. Not to mention, the humor (which this genre of game depends on) is kinda lukewarm. Being a big fan, I had to play the game anyways, despite the mediocrity.
SBCGFAP Episode 2: Strongbadia The Free: Sequel to Homestar Ruiner, Strongbadia the Free is much the same gameplay as the previous, only the puzzles make more sense (there are still times of walking around wondering what to do, but not as many) and the humor is much, much more improved. Homestarrunner fans will enjoy this episode much more than the previous one, outsiders however will still probably find the game mediocre.
Mega Man: I never played the original, but this game was still enjoyable. A good recommendation for those who enjoy the side scroller shooter, just be prepared for some frustrating moments, this game will not forgive you gameplay wise.
Mega Man II: If you liked Mega Man even a little bit, then you will love Mega Man 2. With many aspects of the game being improved, this game is quite worth your money. The gameplay is generally the same, though the challenges don’t require you to bust your head from time to time.
Mega Man 9: Released to the public recently, this is THE latest game in the Mega Man series. The developers have gone back to their roots, using 8 bit graphics and sound, the game retains the charm and difficulty of it's predecessors. This game may feel like a bit of a puzzle though, as more than ever, some bosses can really only be defeated by certain powers. I have not yet beaten it (stuck in Wiley's stupid castle) but if you enjoyed the previous two, then this is a solid recommendation.
Games yet to come (or games I've already downloaded, but have not played)
Dynamite Heady Super Mario RPG Super Metroid (Technically) Ristar

Ah, you'll like (or likely, by this time, already have enjoyed) both Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid.
Super Mario RPG is the same thing as Paper Mario (a Mario-themed RPG) but made for the SNES. Its graphics are cute and playful, and the story was written in part by the wonderful people at Squaresoft (Now Square-Enix and famous for Final Fantasy and many other RPGs). Battles aren't as simple as just hitting Attack, though, and it'll keep you occupied making you time your attacks to get the most damage out of them. It also has a host of characters that will join you, and even Bowser teams up with Mario. The only downside is that we miss out on Mario's famous Italian voice, as he suffers from the Silent Hero trait, having to pantomime (quite amusingly) whatever it is he wants to portray.
Super Metroid is argued by many to be the best Metroid side-scrolling shooter in the series. If you enjoy hunting through ancient ruins and caverns to get the upgrades and filling out the map while engaging in challenging boss battles, this is definitely a game for you.
But what I really dropped by for was to share my own latest acquisition: Bomberman Blast. If you are a fan of Bomberman, this is classic action. Though it has no story mode, let's all be honest. We play for the multiplayer! Up to an incredible eight[/b] people can play on a single console and not a split screen among them. That's right, the game supports the use of all four Wii-motes (the Nunchuck is not used) AND all four Gamecube controllers at the same time. Home alone and still in the mood for Bomberman? Nintendo's server is on 24/7 and you can choose to play with people in just your continental area or around the world and get ranked accordingly. Got friends but they aren't visiting? Bomberman Blast supports friend codes for direct connections! You can even bring in any number of friends from your own console into online play so nobody's ever out of the loop! And you won't break the bank getting it, as it only costs a mere 1,000 Wii Points ($10.00 US)!
