Personally, I hate reading. I dont know why, but unless I'm completely 100% into something, I cant read something for more than a minute before my mind begins to wander and my eyes simply just scan over words without processing them. However, one author has obtained my attention, that being H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft's work of short stories have grabbed my attention and have kept it, to the point where I have read a good portion of his works and am still reading them to date.
Which leads me to wish for a discussion. Are there authors out there that write on horrible bumps in the night that move you? Stephen King? Edgar Allen Poe? Share your thoughts.

Edgar Allen Poe had an incredible way with words, but while he did, indeed, write a great deal of horror, I don't think there ever were any actual monsters. It was all always in the protagonist's head. It makes for a very different, and yet very human, perspective.
