Alright, everyone, time for you to review the rules! Here's your opportunity to speak your mind about the rules and tell us what you think needs to be added, removed or changed. There is, of course, no danger of punishment for disagreeing with anything said by mod or member, and we encourage open discussion. For those of you who haven't read the rules or need a refresher, you can always find them here.

I've got a suggestion. Would there be any way to make a rule that would let us know right away if new (or seasoned) members have even bothered to read the rules? It sounds stupid, I know, but it would be good if we could find a way to figure out if members actually bother checking the rules, and then we would know who should know better and hopefully we can nip any potentially unruly members in the bud.

That's an interesting concept, but how would we do that? Make it required for people to have pie in their signature?

Well, not exactly. I was on this other forum before this one, where they had new members say that they read and understood the rules in their first post. Personally, I see some pretty big flaws in that. However, maybe we could have some sort of key phrase in the rules listing, hich they then have to send to one of the active moderators, alongside a detailed explanation on one of the rules? That'd show they at least read it, at which point the moderator in question then posts saying that the new member has done so. It would certainly be tedious, a pain in the butt, and time consuming, but like I said, it's only a suggestion. I never said it was a good one.

Yeah, seems overly complex. It'd be easier to just say, if you didn't read it, too bad, you were supposed to.

What of having a quiz/test that they take upon registration? and they have to pass before they can activate their account???

Problem is, they'd have access to the site already.

But they wouldn't be able to post.... Or have it so they must pass before they can submit their registration form.

Or we could go with this.
Trust me, for the most part, we'll know if someone doesn't read the rules. I was just suggesting something that might make it easier. But quizes, secret messages, etc. would be more hassle than it's worth. It'd be easier to just root out the troublemakers after we know for sure that they are a problem.

Not to mention, it would be a deterrent to actually joining. But enough of that. Let's talk about the rules already in place. Anybody have any problems with any of them?

Just a small suggestion... maybe summarize/paraphrase certain rules and/or merging some together? Compared to virtually every forum I've been to, that's a LONG list. New members could be deterred by such a long list. Maybe not, but I remember when I first joined, I was like, "...... that's a lot!"

Well, remember, it's the general rules, the section-specific rules and the RP rules all in one list, so it's gonna be a little long to cover everything. In the process, of course, it's easy to duplicate some. What rules would you recommend combining?

Here is a rule I thought we had on the old forum that we could use here. Its just a little rule. " No threads letting us know your leaving for a few days unless its for 2 weeks or more!"
