The frown spelled it out for him. The judge was starting to get testy; his response obviously did not move him in any way. He should probably not be too aggressive and start shifting to more defensive approach. He may have gone a little too far, trying to argue theology and history in a place he did not fully understand. Damn it, should have coughed it up for an attorney.
"Your honor, I'm afraid that I am no longer in contact with the one I have spoken of, their name being ************* ((name blanked out to protect from misunderstandings, PM sent on this)). Although, I wish I could contact them." Kainus said, and then realized a description that the Judge had made. The true problem wasn’t that the Sue's had merely existed, but it was the fact that the authors were abusing them, losing control, or encouraging them to go rampant, the last part sounded familiar to another form of Role-playing Terminology.
"Forgive me your honor, but that last bit of what you had related to me sounded a bit familiar..." He pauses for a moment.
"Are you familiar with the terminology of Power gaming?"

Apparently whatever name Kainus had spoken to the Judge sounded like nothing more than a low bleeping sound, but the Judge understood what it’d meant regardless; those that had grown out of their Sue or Studom had a right to an anonymous relocation and renaming for re-entering the Land. However the Judge’s frown remained plastered on his face. It could have either supported what Kainus claimed or he could have been leaked a name from the database, neither was certain, but the benefit of the doubt had to be given.
“Power-gaming,” the Judge echoed, “it sounds familiar to what they call an unsavory tactic in the Land’s politics, but I cannot be certain. Do continue Kainus.”
The Judge’s glossy eyes seemed to be focused now, as if he was searching for a very specific phrase for Kainus to utter before pressing the before-mentioned charges further.

Maybe there was some form of hope, as deep as it may be in the ocean of dread. Still, one cant help but take any form of a break as a godsend, and began to explain his case.
"Power Gaming is a coined termed for those who do not seek Role Playing for the act of creating characters to interact with others of the environment, but simply flex their power and show how much better they are than others. They simply seek to be the best, and will bend their characters to such proportions. They are of a different breed; they are salt to the garden of creativity. It is not necessarily their characters that are bad, but the actions they perform. There are genuine characters out there with out of proportion powers, but they have a good background and their creators mean well, but 'Power Gamers' do not mean well your honor. Power Gamers can be of any form, whether it be a balanced character that seems to react to everything too perfectly, or a cliché Stu creator. I could be wrong and if I am do correct me, but is it possible that the ones that are causing all the trouble in your world are Power Gamers who have Stu and Sue like characters?” Kainus proposed, hoping he could get somewhere. He was a little off topic, but it may very well be a possibility.

“This brand of misfits sounds all too familiar and they are part of the problem, but not the entirety of it; you are more informed than you first seemed Kainus.” The Judge creased his hand as if beckoning some invisible person from an empty corner of the room. He waited momentarily as if that invisible person was making their way to his side.
He continued after putting his hand back down, “Your conclusion is correct, in fact the reason why your charges, despite how intuitive and well-meaning you are is all the more saddening. The same follows for this fellow,” he indicated to David, “And now this young lady,” he motioned towards True.
“Have you heard of the recent events in the Grand Forum?”

Kainus didn’t turn his head, but his eyes glanced to the direction of the corner of the room. He still couldn’t see anything, and that troubled him. It could be another invisible bailiff or some super monitor lizard prepared to enact his execution. He tried not to worry about it, and instead tried to focus on the question at hand. Grand Forum? Not something he was greatly familiar with.
"Unfortunately your honor, current events are not a strong point of mine. Well, at least not at the moment anyways." Kainus explained respectfully.

The Judge’s pitch went up a notch inexplicably, “You should take more interest in the current events, especially with events as grave as these. Today yet another member of the Land’s Sovereignty was killed. I find it strange you don’t recall it Kainus, as several individuals saw you leaving the Grand Forum and in the company of some, for lack of better terms, people no one should associate with.”
A soft crinkling was heard, and a bag with an elaborate fountain pen sitting inside it appeared from nowhere and onto the Judge’s podium. The Judge hastily snatched up the bag and held it out so Kainus could see it, “The Knights also happened to find one of these as well as the word dregs of what fits a Sue or Stu profile.”
To any inhabitant not of the Land, the fountain pen would have meant nothing, but in the order of the Land of Words it was the equivalent of finding a set of crisp fingerprints smeared over a murder weapon. This was because each controlling author only had one pen unique to themselves just as those of the Knight order had a unique inkpot to themselves. But that did not mean the two were inseparable.
The Judge flaunted the bag, “Is there anything you wish to confess concerning involvement? This is your final chance to share any withheld information.” With the way he was waving it, it was fairly obvious that somehow someway irrational conclusions were absurdly being drawn with rational method.
(I feel guilty about this in all honesty…)

A thousand thoughts bounced into his head, ricocheting off each other like bullets for a chance to be processed in the utter confusion. Before finally speaking;
"Wait, I haven’t been here in quite awhile, only returning here to take care of some business, including this support accusation. And you are accusing me of aiding in an assassination?" Kainus questioned, now more confused. Was this whole meeting just a set up? Wasn’t he supposed to be taken into custody and then given a trial by a supreme court? This doesn’t even fit.
"I've been set up!" He burst out, his voice a little louder than he intended it to be. "Your honor this cant be right, there HAS to be some kind of mistake... I haven’t been here in months! Is that even mine?" Kainus questioned. He wouldn’t be so desperate if the judge didn’t already sound like he had made up his mind on the subject.

“The Knights don’t make mistakes, they correct them.” The Judge’s eyes turned down, he appeared to be writing something. By the time he looked up he was speaking loudly and with conviction, “The Court of Balances finds that at this moment detention at the Island of Penance is necessary, the three of you will serve time until you are permitted freedom or otherwise.” He pointed at Kainus, “Controlling author Kainus Maximus, you are charged with the suspicion of assassination, and you will be in custody until otherwise proven guilty or innocent.” A faint shimmering like a mirage appeared next to Kainus, an invisible pressure was pressed upon his wrists, a slithering voice hissing into his ear, “It’s hard to ignore evidence like that controlling author, but even with that glaring piece it still isn’t enough to eradicate you for good. The Knights are still conducting the scene, you might get lucky with just a life in solitude if you were an assistant, but if you’re truly lucky and just some poor fellow that was manipulated, you’ll get a lifetime pardon from the Sovereign!” The Judge shifted his gaze at David, “Character Red Fire Dragon Ranger also known as David, you are charged with the crime of concealing your controlling author’s creation of several illegal characters.” In response the Bailiff tugged David’s arms behind him; the Bailiff offered some information to the Ranger, maybe out of duty but most likely out of some shred of pity. “For whatever reasons there are no formal records of the others, it’s like your controlling author was smuggling in contraband… or maybe organizing his own CCM (Created Characters Militia), we don’t know, that’s what we’re going to find out, if your author is innocent of it, don’t worry,” the Bailiff whispered harshly. Lastly the Judge looked at True Blue who ironically had the most crimes initially on her record yet had received the least amount of judicial rebuke. He gave her a wavering stare, “Even if you had come here with a truly clean record, we would be unable to let you go until the investigation of Kainus was completed for the sake of preserving information about it. Regardless you are required to go to the Island anyway, consider it luck that you can do both at the same time.” Unlike the others, True’s Bailiff had nothing to really say to her. The Judge fanned his hand at them, “Take them to the Island, Bailiffs.” The three of them were taken through the doors they had originally walked through, but this time it led to a dark and barren hall. They were herded to the end of it and into a room which had a lone, thick and heavy door covered in moving gears yet impossibly floating above a levitating mass of oily liquid. The Bailiffs removed the mute marks they had impressed on David and True Blue and traced invisible (Kainus included) spirals over their wrists and ankles from their inkpots. After doing so, the two visible Bailiffs motioned for the trio to head to the door composed of clockworks. “We’ll be sending you through this, it’ll feel just like you’re just going on a long ride across a landscape of snow together, so don’t worry. You won’t even land on something hard by the time you get there, it’ll be as if you fell on a pile of pillows,” cooed the invisible Bailiff with the snakelike voice. It was their only farewell before the door simply swallowed them up. (Well now you guys can all chat together! )

TrueBlue© had jerked and struggled the whole way, stopping and then moving suddenly, making every effort to require a greater one. This was unacceptable!
"You can't do this to me!" She'd yelled. "I wrote a Guide! I'm better than you! I'm better than all of you!"
And through it all, her character had just turned around and waved. Waved. That horrible child! Why, when she got back, that brat was getting put in a versus match against Satan!
She was still fuming, right through the door that absorbed them. They were being sent to that island, she supposed. How was she going to write her way back to freedom? She hardly ever got around to posting anything that required effort anymore.
Quite certain those inferior Bailiffs couldn't hear her, the authoress broke down sobbing again. Ohhh, calamity.

Kainus listened to the slithering voice that spoke to him of his damnation, before replying quietly to the translucent figure.
"You aren’t the super monitor lizard that has come to bite my head off are you?" His comment was more self reflected humor than a serious statement.
"But really, you guys are throwing me in jail because my pen was found at a murder scene? Well give me your inkpot and let me put that at some random murder scene so you can go to jail with me!" Kainus protested as he was pulled away, but they ignored him. After the invisible snakelike bailiff made his explanation of the sled ride, Kainus could think of nothing to say... so he instead blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
"I call Shenanigans on this entire damned court!" He exclaimed as the portal swallowed him up.

The ranger, on the other hand, was surprisingly calm. He nodded in response to the bailiff who spoke to him, signaling that he understood, then dipped his head politely to the Judge before he walked calmly along the way, not seeming to require any pulling but what was necessary to guide him down the appropriate path. If anything, one would think he was just taking a casual stroll.
Indeed, when they sent him on toward the door, his final words before going through were, "I can't wait to see. Sand or stone?" And then he was gone, as well.

The transition between the two locations was just as the invisible Bailiff had declared; their senses were assailed by nothing by white noise, white landscape, white nothing. Time might as well have frozen as far as their perceptions went, the only sensation that signaled they had even left was the predicted soft impact they all felt as they somehow landed. What they had landed on precisely they didn’t know as it was strangely too dark to determine.
The soft material bubbled beneath them and they were ushered forward like they were on a conveyer belt in a factory. They were soon deposited into a nicely padded and peach-colored room which was occupied with a magenta egg-chair that was turned away from them. It swiveled around immediately to reveal a rather curvy woman juxtaposed by a very stiff, almost military, uniform. She had her hands politely folded over what looked like an organizer and as she stood up she flipped the small book open, an action which happened to show off her nicely manicured nails.
For a moment she looked like she was referencing the book, possibly for a hair-appointment with how ignorantly she seemed to be scanning its pages. The woman looked as if she recalled she needed something to write into it, and reached to her interestingly tied up bun on her head to pull out one of the decorated sticks that was jutting out of it. Only upon her clicking the decorated end of one of those sticks did one realize they were really pens.
She’d finished making whatever marks she wished and promptly closed up the little book again. The second she’d opened her mouth one would have expected her voice to be accompanied by the smack and echo of chewing gum, but there was none, “Welcome to the Island. My name is General Corrector, but you may call me Gen. I will be your caretaker during your stay here.”
Idly she preened back a stray piece of maroon hair from her face, “If you have any questions, concerns or requests, please to not hesitate to ask them.”

The red ranger patiently raised his hand, not wanting to speak up without permission just in case it would be frowned upon.

David lowered his hand before speaking. "I was curious about how things are going to happen here. Is there a schedule? Do we stay in cells? Are there regular writing assignments? How is this going to work?"
