"The falling value of the American dollar has investors worried. A steady increase in the cost of living over the last decade with wages failing to keep up is leaving many families feeling the pinch. Government help programs are straining to keep up with the demand and Congress has announced yet another tax increase, the fourth this quarter alone, to attempt to compensate. Whatever the result, success or failure, one thing is for certain. This is going to be a very tight Christmas for everyone."

"Foreign ministers throughout the UN have expressed continually increasing concerns about the economic state of the United States. The Prime Minister of Japan put it the most clearly."
"Ladies and gentlemen of the United Nations, the United States of America, long standing as the golden land of opportunity, of achievement, of freedom and democracy, is on the verge of crumbling into the second depression of its little over 230-year life. This time, however, it is not only itself that will suffer. America has become the backbone of the worldwide economic industry. If it falls, it could bring the whole modern world down with it."

"With all attempts to halt the American economic crisis failing rapidly, Japan has announced a last-ditch plan."
"We have the strongest economy in the world today. Just across the lake, our neighbors are in terrible need of assistance, but their system is broken. What was once great, powerful and inspiring has become too bogged down to accommodate the changes necessary quickly enough to stop this avalanche. In order to safeguard them and ourselves, we must step in and secure that system's foundations before it is washed away completely."

"With the blessings of the United Nations and for the good of the world, 50,000 Japanese Peacekeepers have launched for America with more to come. Once there, they will aid in the securing of the United States and its economic meltdown. The president is said to be preparing to roll out the red carpet for them, but many citizens aren't so eager."

"The first American citizen has been killed today. He was said to have been charging a Peacekeeper convoy with explosives trapped to his body. When he pulled the automatic rifle from one of the peacekeepers and attempted to open fire, the convoy had no choice but to gun him down. No Peacekeepers were killed in the failed suicide bombing, but three were injured. The captain of the convoy had this to say about the attack."
"It saddens me that we come all the way over from Japan to help them, but they are so afraid of change, so terrified of getting away from the system that has put them in this state, that they resist, often violently. They have been told so much that theirs is the way, even while that way takes so much money from them that they can't even put food on the table, that they cannot accept anything else. We bring them food, we bring them security, we bring them stability, and they bring us dynamite."

"The detainee camps erected to store the arrested terrorists in an attempt to alleviate pressure from the prisons are, themselves, now close to overflowing. The camps are attempting to put the prisoners through rehabilitation, but as the fighting goes on, nearing an entire month, more are coming in than going out."

"It's been six months since the first Japanese Peacekeepers landed in America and over 750,000 of them now patrol the United States and its borders. Working closely with native armed forces, they have successfully quelled almost all of the terrorist factions throughout the country. Resolution finally seems to be on the horizon."

"To the shock and anger of the world, America's own native armed forces were revealed to be a part of a subversive plot to attack the Japanese Peacekeeping forces. General Yang, in charge of the nationwide operation, quickly initiated strikes against their bases of operation to keep them from bringing harm to others, then in a worldwide press announcement declared that, both in the new absence of a local military force and to ensure that such cannot happen again, all native armed forces would be disbanded immediately and replaced with Japanese troops. This announcement comes only a month after Japanese political scientists combed over the whole of the American system and began setting plans into place to secure it against collapse. In the interim, a Japanese-sponsored government is tending to any and all business."

"It has been two years since the Japanese replaced the United States' failing government with their own. Now the Japanese Colonies of America, many new regulations for the stability of the country have been put into place. We are all familiar with them. One of the first things that was done was to fix the age-old problem of lacking a legal national language. Now, there is no question of what languages companies should be writing or speaking in - all business is conducted in Japanese and students are taught the language in school. Foreign languages are encouraged for cultural development, but never see use unless traveling."
"They also quickly solved the problem of illegal immigration. Troops line the border and signs are placed at regular intervals that read,
Japanese-Mexican Border
Trespassers will be shot.
Illegal immigration has dropped to zero since the action was put into place."
"Most importantly, however, were the socio-economic reforms placed to ensure the safety and security of the economy. All children are required to complete all levels of schooling. Drop-outs are not permitted. Upon graduating, all males are put into the workforce, the majority spending their days in work camps pumping out goods for export to build the economy back up, which now runs on the Japanese Yen. Females are permitted to stay at home to tend to the house and family or to start their own business so long as the former isn't neglected. While many restrictions are in place on what kind of business can be started, they are freely encouraged to start shops, restaurants, cafes and stores."
"While female independence is important, proponents say, ensuring stability is even more important. Making sure that everyone has a job and everything is tended to will ensure that the future of this country has a firm base to build on and won't degenerate into a culture where everyone thinks everything is owed to them."
