Is there a biological influence on male homosexuality?
Homosexuals in recent days can be found in various places on this planet, one place that tends to stand out for its visible 'gay' population is San Francisco. The biggest question is if this 'group' is does genetics have an effect on being homosexual in men?
In numerous different studies, the leading cause pointed to that of nature - making homosexuality something that is part of who they are and is pre-determained. According to Psychologist Michael Bailey of Northwestern University and Psychiatrist Richard Pillard of Boston University, the chances of siblings that are raised together since birth if one is homosexual, the chance for the sibling to be homosexual varies by their genetic closeness. Fifty-two percent for their identical twin, twenty-two percent for their non-identical twin, and about ten percent for adopted or non-twin brothers. Though given that only 52% of identical twins were homosexual, it is fairly safe to say that while genetics plays a large role in homosexuality, outside influences still have a significant impact on homosexuality.
This quote is from a dear friend, who I shall call John, to protect his identity. "Gay people come from so many different types of families, not just the nurturing type. for example, I was brought up in a christian household, normal parents as far as society would see them, and I still ended up as their gay son, raised no different than my older, straight brother or my even older half brother, who is married with a kid. And I am just one example. Everyone comes from all types of families, even foster kids with gay parents don't "turn" gay, there are straight kids I know that have gay moms and dads and they are perfectly content with it, yet have their own heterosexual relationships going on.
I am sure it is in the genes, but somewhere down the line, I bet everyone's family has or has had a homosexual whether they know it or not, because sadly in today's society people are weak to their own fears for something they don't understand."
In a letter from Mark to Dr. James Dobson, Mark being a fairly troubled youth, wrote, "... I'm afraid if I am not straight (that's much easier to write) I will go to hell.
I don't want to be not straight.
I don't try to be not straight.
I love God and want to go to heaven. If something is wrong with me, I want to get rid of it.
Please help me.
Mark"
Why would one desire to not be not straight but, can't, if it was simply a choice, like what shirt to wear that day? Simple. It is not just a choice - it is at least partially in their genes, in their NATURE. So why should they fear HELL for who they are, for who they were BORN as?!
