Kali turned and smiled at the apparently young lady, though he was perhaps the only one present who was older than she. He dipped his head calmly in acceptance of her submission, then reached over and touched her forehead. Immediately, the tension and pain faded from her mind as it settled down to normal once more. "There, how's that, my dear?" he asked gently. "Forgive the pain my message must have inflicted upon you. For it to cover the distance necessary, the beacon had to be strong. Else, these more mundane characters," he motioned in particular to Ivan and Excelsior, "would not have received it."
He looked to the sky as one might check the time. "It was late when it reached you, yes?" he concluded, apparently having been comparing the interdimensional equivalent to time zones before returning his gaze to her and smiling apologetically. "My sincerest apologies. I surely must have awakened you."

"You did no such thing," Kagetsuki replied quietly, not bothering to explain she would probably have woken from a nightmare anyway. Her voice was strangely subdued, the normal bitterness and distaste gone; she wouldn't look Kali in the eyes, only bowing her head and murmuring, "My thanks for relieving me of the pain, you are too kind." Pausing for a long moment, she then saw fit to add, "I would very much be interested in learning why the summons was sent, Lord, if it is not too soon to ask."

"It is too soon," he confirmed, but without condemnation in his tone. "The others must arrive first, for when my explanation is given, events will move swiftly. I shall be glad to explain myself, but not until then, for their sake."

"As you will, Lord." Kagetsuki replied simply as she executed another bow, this one much less elaborate and signifying the end of the conversation. She went to stand off to the side of Toriji and Ivan, eying Excelsior oddly before she stopped and crossed her arms to wait for Sam and Zulon. The queen had no intention of speaking more until the others did arrive, and any attempts at conversation would only be met with a glare.

Ivan frowned at the reason but understood the reasoning well, he murmured a low, "Always gotta make the good students wait because of the tardy ones."
He surveyed the ruined landscape again, a calm expression on his face as though he were instead viewing a picturesque sunset by conventional standards.

That guy was not just fast, he was super-fast. Apparently magic was not the only trick up this pretty boys sleeve. He was rapidly backing up his claim.
"Son of Satan, huh... well I..." Excelsior began, but didn't finish his sentence as suddenly a new figure appeared on the tower, an apparently twenty-something male. He looked normal enough, but in his long life and career in high-powered crime-fighting Excelsior had learned that looks meant just about nothing, his current adversary being a big case in point to this. He gave the newcomer a chance to speak and just as he opened his mouth to tell him to get out of here the next figure appeared.
This one looked even a tiny bit younger and his garb made Excelsior smirk, it looked like he was on his way to an Anime convention. Then again, he wasn't really the one to make such statements, so he kept his mouth shut.
Kali himself simply turned his back on Excelsior, addressing the two newcomers, one of which apparently had already met this psychotic something or other. For a moment Excelsior was absolutely flabbergasted at Kali's absolute disregard for the danger it seemed to pose to turn his back at him, but then again, he probably still knew his every move, just like he seemed to know his past. When he introduced Excelsior to the others, using those tired old lines which those hacks Schuster and Siegel had used to describe Superman, the introduced groaned tormented and rolled his eyes. The day that the Schuster back in his new home universe had told him he had been the inspiration for the character Excelsior had known he'd never live it down.
"Now listen here..." he began ready to get indignant about this pretty clear and cheap shot at his pride, but yet again he was cut off by a new arrival, another twenty something but this time a lady, who seemed to see Kali as some manner of superior. "...holy... what is this place, a goddamn freak-show train station?" he exclaimed, aimed at no one in particular. He didn't expect a true answer, he was just voicing his anger about being ignored. When Kali called him mundane however he got seriously pissed.
As the lady inquired for the reasons of this cozy little get together and Kali did not put out a straight answer Excelsior got fed up. This game had gone on long enough, Excelsior didn't care about a psychos reasons, that was a therapists job. His job was to get him to said therapist, preferably alive and in one piece. He crossed his arms and angrily stomped his foot on the ground hard enough to produce cracks in the tower and run tremors as deep as the earth the contorted building was standing on, thus ensuring himself of the attention of everybody on the tower.
"Listen folks, I HATE to break up your little tea party here, but down there is a mountain of CORPSES that this guy here is to blame for! I don't care why he did it, all I care for is it not happening again. Some of you already seem to know this arrogant bastard, so I'm giving you all the same ten seconds I gave him. Either tell me which side you are on, or scram!" He punctuated this last statement with a waving gesture, which, in his anger, he executed strongly and fast enough to produce a stiff gust off wind.

The gust of wind passed over the Man-Demon and fluttered his hair and robes, but did not cause him to even bat an eye. "They are on your side, Excelsior," he stated simply. "You would do well not to upset them. You'll need them to get through the trials ahead, even with your great might." He was at Excelsior's side so fast that it seemed as if he was standing over by them one moment and standing next to him the next. "Besides," he said, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret with him, "you're in the presence of royalty. Both the young beauty and the ..." he said the word as if it were distasteful, "... ninja are ruling heads of provinces within Hell. For the time being, they shall be aligned with you against me, but with your intense allergy to magic, it would be wise of you not to upset them too greatly. They do not have the means to protect you from its effect like I did to shield you upon your arrival."

Ivan didn't take great offense to the 'superhero's indignation, it made plausible sense to be angry he lazily figured, but it didn't dignify him in any way or earn any respect from the magician's end.
He broke his gaze with the horizon, "Yeah I get that part Mr. Hero but beating the shit out of Kali won't bring them back any faster so keep your tea cup on your saucer would you? If you're invited you should damn well know the rules of the host if you're going to try to throw a fit."
And in a bipolar one-eighty of conversation, he saluted Excelsior with a broad grin, "And by the way I'm next in line for the next round."

Toriji grunted at the comment, most likely only obviously derogatory to him. "You know, I'm tired of the whole ninja hatred thing. I'm not even a real ninja, just dressed like one..." He stopped to scratch his head. "It's the only thing I'm comfortable in when I'm in my human form." He punctuated with another grunt. "Shien decides to make a slight change, and i live it down for the rest of my life." This time he didn't grunt but gave a heavy sigh.

The look Kagetsuki shot Excelsior could have melted diamonds. She made no attempt to hide her dislike of the costumed human, sneering and saying in a voice that dripped with contempt, "Contrary to what Lord Kali says I would prefer to think of myself as being on my own side, for now." Her eyes raked him up and down and she let out a harsh, mocking chuckle. "I've no care for the 'mountain of corpses' or this world in general, really. I am simply here because I received a summons--and considering my position, and his? The summons was really not one I could refuse. Politics and whatnot, it's all much too complicated for you to understand."

Ivan hissed a breath of air at what the demon queen had mentioned, "Pfft, politics, the universal pain in the ass." Even though it didn't apply to him and he wasn't directing at anyone the thought had escaped his mouth anyway.

"You can go ahead and assume the same for me. This isn't even my universe. You could say that my Earth has already been destroyed." He slyly chuckled. "If you think this one is special to me, then you're wrong. There are a thousand more I could visit to remind me of 'the good old days.' So while I will try to stop Kali," He gave a wink in Kali's direction that said 'Just because.' "I will not be losing my head for it."

Ivan was utterly deadpan in regarding Toriji's statements about his home world, "I feel so much safer now that the magic knight demon guy has deemed this planet a thing worth fighting for."
There was an abnormal silence after it that was heavy with the implication that he wanted to add on, 'By the way I already called dibs on challenging Kali to fisticuffs next.'

Next in line for the next round?
Politics too complicated for him to understand?
Not his universe?
Excelsior was revolted by these insolent kids, as he perceived the others, and it showed on his face. He wrinkled his nose and narrowed his eyes, then ith a deep reverberating snort he gathered slime and mucus in his mouth and spat it right in front of the Ninjas feet, which he right now saw as the worst offender. He looked them all in the eyes one after another, then said
"I don't care for the word of little Lucifer here one bit more than you do. You should all be lucky that he's the biggest threat here, any other day of the week I'd spank every single one of you until you'd start calling me daddy. Now you should all get out of here while you still can, this could get messy..."
With these words he turned back to Kali
"Alright, where were we..." he mused and resumed a battle stance.

Kali chuckled at their words. Their denials of their intentions. What fools, to think they had such will as to not participate. They were lying, deluding themselves in an attempt to claim control over their actions that they in fact lacked. Their very presence here denied their claims, their arrival making liars out of them all. Whatever their reasons were, they were irrelevant. They were here now and they would side against him. Even the ever-lovely Noroi would find herself on the side of the Protagonist for the first time in a great while. It would do her good and do much to improve her as a leader and a warrior.
Meanwhile, their words had a much different effect on Excelsior, infuriating him. Kali could feel his rage bubbling over like a pot of greasy broth, and then finally, he turned back to him and asked where they left off.
Kali smiled serenely as he answered. "Why, I believe you were just about to crumple before the rubber ducky."
OOC: What follows is seen, heard and felt only by Excelsior.
A moment after the words had had time to sink into the transdimensional warrior's head, an ear-rattlingly loud Quack shook the air, and when the Superman turned to look, there, floating through the air, was a massive rubber duck, and it must have been a truly impressive magical construct, as the sickening sensation came off of it in droves, getting worse as it drew closer and closer, gradually floating through the air like it was the top of the bathtub water as it made its way toward Excelsior. Quack. it roared again.
