Bodega City is a shit hole of a city in a shit hole of a state. Once a prosperous city built on mining valuable minerals and selling them, now just a dying city full of empty skyscrapers and decaying buildings. Slowly Bodega city is becoming completely abandoned as the only thing keeping this city alive was steel and a small weapons manufacturing plant that built more parts than whole weapons. As cities go, Bodega’s crime was not a pandemic in need of a great crime fighter to help keep order and inflict fear in criminals. And yet I’m here, guarding this city from week to week. I am the Modern Swordsmen, a government sponsored super hero apart of a government sponsored Hero League. As my name suggests, I uses swords in my fight against evil. They are magic swords, two of which are guarded by a small shape shifting dragon named Chopper who follows me around so I can use them. Chopper is my friend and only partner in this city, although he prefers to let me do almost all the work. My assignment in Bodega City is a joke. I spend more time busting drug dealers than fighting super villains. Thus far the city has only one set of villains, the Bodega Rangers. As super villains go, the Bodega Rangers are a joke. Aside from their “ultimate move” they are about three steps up from a standard mechanically and technologically enhanced henchman, minus the all weather resistant armor. Because the Bodega Rangers’ “ultimate move” causes them to lose their powers, I often leave Bodega City to help other cities with more urgent super villain issues. As you can see, Bodega City is a city that doesn’t really need a super hero. Well needs change with time and with a city like Bodega, they change badly.

New Year’s Eve, Bodega city had a calibration to welcome the New Year that was similar to what you see in New York City. At this time the city was safe. The Bodega Rangers had been missing for almost a month and just about every low life was taking the night off. I had just made it back to the city from a temporary assignment in Los Angeles. Night patrol was not a priority on this night, but I thought the fireworks would be more impressive on top of one of the tallest buildings in the city. 12:01AM, the fireworks are still going off in the nights sky and suddenly down below close to the center of the city screams ring out and people start to run. A cloud of thick white smoke covers the area close to the screams. I think nothing of it and ignore the commotion while the fireworks continue to go off. Once the fireworks stop, I look down to see that the smoke still covers the area. After a few more minutes the smoke had completely dissipated to reveal a bloody mess that appear to have been an exploded body. This was strange but didn’t scream a need for a super hero to me. However, I suddenly noticed something odd. In the center of this bloody mess was what looked like the remains of an artillery shell. Bodega city was nowhere near a military base. This didn’t make sense in any logic other than terrorism or a new super powerful artillery round. I quickly took to the air with assistants from his shape shifting dragon Chopper and started to fly towards the northern outskirts of the city. While I went looking for the artillery weapon that fired the shell, 2 hours passed. Without warning approximately 200 people went crazy and started attacking everyone. As time went by a few more people, some police officers went crazy and started to cause more chaos. I noticed smoke pouring out of a building and flew back to the city to put the fire out. As the night passed 60 people were detained and approximately 200 more were killed. 2 days passed and it was suddenly declared that the people who attacked the city seemed to have been suffering from a mental illness and that a new drug they were all taking had “unpredictable side effects” when the body of the user became cold. The newspapers were quick to call it a cover up of an act of terrorism. The artillery shell that started it all was dismissed as being nothing more than a keg being tossed out of a window. I was assigned to investigate the truth.
The government was trying its best to cover up what was dubbed the “New Years Day Bodega Melee” but I was given the truth. All 60 of the detained people from the chaos had a strange chemical in their blood. This chemical was identified by its codename “White Chair”. It was a chemical weapon the United States government had designed in secret that would cause any person who came into contact with it to go crazy and cause all sorts of chaos. Chaos as the revolution equivalent to throwing a white folding chair into the audience at a rap awards show. It was designed to be air dropped over a city and cause the citizens of that city to basically riot and destroy the city on their own. The project was canceled as the chemical didn’t always cause people to riot and would cause unpredictable “chaotic” behavior similar to the 7 deadly sins. Another reason was that the gas would only work in cold temperatures. The final reason was that the chemical didn't have to be turned into a gas and breathed in for it to infect people. "White Chair" in both its gas and liquid form could be absorbed through the skin. After hearing this information, 2 weeks had passed since the attack. Without warning, another artillery shell was fired into the city during a peace protest. Once again, chaos ensued as all sorts of hippie protesters became murderous, pyromaniac, gluttonous cannibals, and sexual deviants not caring of their surroundings. As with the New Year’s chaos, the government tried to cover it up, but when a video of the artillery shell landing and emitting its white gas appeared on the news, it was labeled an act of terrorism along with the New Years incident.
Having found no real leads or answers to who did this attack I sent in a request for reinforcements and equipment. After another week of trying to gain information an informant came forward. This informant, being a wanted man by the Hero League, shall remain nameless. The informant had some reliable information and made a deal with me. During the following day I was ambushed by the very suspects the informant pointed out to me. While defending my self, I was soon attacked directly by artillery that emitted the same white gas as before. With my powers, I managed to freeze the shell and contain most of the gas but I had breathed in some of the gas. With the ambushers having already retreated, I rushed to the hospital. As time passed I felt a wave of emotions cloud my mind and a rage that only kept building. While still holding onto control of myself, I attempted a suicidal procedure to cure himself. “White Chair” has only one cure that would completely destroy it. If an infected person was to heat their brain up to a dangerous level, the chemical would be destroyed. With my immunity to fire, I literally barbequed my brain with my powers. As it turned out, the barbeque worked and I was cured without any damage to my brain. However I spent the next three days in the hospital, two of which while unconscious. When released from the Hospital I discovered that Hero League members Mink and Kade had arrived in Bodega City, without orders I might add, and were keeping an eye on the city. I am under orders from the hospital to take the rest of the week off. I shall return to duty starting Sunday of the following week.
End of Report.
*Bodega City, Hero League HQ.*
*Outside the Hero League HQ the weather was grey, wet, and in the low 50s. Despite the temperature outside, inside the HQ the temperature was warm, yet if you looked at El Wray, the Modern Swordsmen, you'd think it was warm outside. The Modern Swordsmen was dressed in his usual get up except he was missing his jacket and bullet proof vest. El Wray's upper body was dressed in only a black tank top and his gloves. Inside the HQ El Wray sat in a chair with his back to a Large flat screen plasma TV. The Bodega City Hero League Headquarters was a windowless warehouse that had its interior remodeled. The HQ looked more like an office place than a place to live even though it had a large kitchen. Cubical were what most of the rooms were, most of which didn't even have ceilings. Aside from bullet proofing just about everything, the HQ had very few defense. The only up side was that the place had just about everything a person could want to live comfortably, outside of their personal room. Large plasma flat screen TV, 6 different high powered computers that were not comic book sized or taking up half the room, large kitchen with two of just about everything, big lounging area in front of the TV with lots of comfortable seats and couches, a small gym area that was in a separate room from the living area and living quarters, and a garage that was the only way to get into the HQ making a hole. The only thing missing from this place was a hot tub or pool. There were no decoration; everything was grey, sliver, blue, or purple. As for the living quarters, each room was a modified cubical with no ceiling, a single person bed with white sheets, a metal desk with a pad-less wood chair, a closet, and a footlocker with no lock. The entire HQ wasn't that fancy and there was no carpeting outside of the living quarters, just cement or metal plating. As for the bathrooms there were 2 in the garage area, 2 large public like bathrooms across from the gym and next to the living quarters that had military/communal like showers. In the garage there was enough space to fit 5 cars however their were only 3 cars, one of which was a police car with a cage, another was a red Toyota Prius, and the last was a sliver Toyota Prius that had two very large bullet holes in its hood and was clearly not in use.*
*Facing El Wray on the couches and seat were the other Hero League members that were assigned to him to work on stopping these terrorist attacks. Strange as it was, El Wray was one of the lowest ranking members in the entire Hero League who was ranked just above a new recruit out of probation. Since El Wray was the initial hero investigating the white chair acts of terrorism, El Wray was in charge of all theses heroes until command stated otherwise. Because of this loop hole, El Wray had the feeling things would be difficult. For once, El Wray couldn't just screw around on his own without thinking it through. El Wray looked at the other heroes and started to speak. Trying his best to sound professional and in charge.*
El Wray: "Welcome to Bodega City Arizona. I trust you all read my report on what's been going on so… let me introduce myself. I'm the Modern Swordsmen, also known as El Wray when inside these walls and I will be in command for the time being. Before we begin with the briefing and legal stuff, I thought it was be a good idea to introduce yourselves."
*As soon as El Wray finished speaking a short dark blue haired cat girl in a dark blue cat suit rocketed up out of her seat on the couch to the right of El Wray.*
Kade: "OH! *Ahem.* I'm Kade, just Kade, no other name but Kade. No I'm not a cosplay addict; I really am a cat girl. I'm allergic to fish so please keep all sea food away from me. Oh and I can turn into a cat so if you see a dark blue hair cat napping anywhere, that's me, and please don't wake me."
*Kade sat back down with a look of joy on her face.*
