I hate politics. I really do. Politicians, too. Especially of this variety. "Oh, let's destroy our opponent, because making sure he fails is more important than making sure the country succeeds." *sighs* Partisan politics never works, which is why I'm neither a fatso, nor a jackass; taking up a contrary stance just for the sake of seeing your opponent fail? Honestly, they make me ashamed to have voted Republican last election. -_-

Well you know what they say about politicians, can't be one without being a weasel first.
Thus far both parties have been shameful in their performances in all honesty, they're making me ashamed to have even participated in the damn voting system.

Well I'm pissed but in order to not bust into a rant I'm going to some up my feelings and thoughts into one sentence.
Obama needs to stop being the nice guy, break out the talkin powder, and start pimp slapping the Republicans (and anyone else) into submission so that Health care can be fixed.

(Do you mean to get it passed or to get what Obama himself suggested?) I think the currently proposed universal health care really isn't...all too good. I mean yeah it should be available but it's crazy the kind of price the rest of the working class will have to pay. Also I think that some major considerations have to be given to such a "perfect" health coverage, especially concerning cases of those who willingly abuse alcohol, tobacco or some other luxury health-impairing substance. The prospect of having such a plan would be desirable by anyone currently afflicted with physical ails, but the actual payment of to have such a commodity would be crippling to our working generation and the next one.
At this point I personally don't honestly care which party does what as long as something that will help the COUNTRY gets done. I'm all for helping those who don't have the means to live happy lives but the economy is in the crapper and charity is a luxury that can't be exactly spared at the moment.
*Since the Democrats have majority in Congress and the Executive/Presidential seat....so uh yeah, what Republicans need to be slapped if (I'm reading/hearing is true) Democrats have majority authority over the bill-deciding parts of the system? (Not so sure about which party controls the Judicial branch but they can really only overturn things so that's a bit moot.) And as usual if I'm grossly misinformed about something do feel free to point me in the right direction of events.

Personally, I think the healthcare system we have right now is better than what Obama's proposing. Maybe it needs some tweaking but government control of something like that is something I personally don't agree with. I don't like the idea of America becoming more Socialist than we already are and I don't like the idea of bleeding the middle class to pay for any more of the Preisdent's projects.
I agree, though. Our politics are messed up. But that's been obvious since the campaigns when neither party could actually tell you what their platform was but instead tried to smear the other candidate. Jeez, it's been obvious way before then. Mudslinging, anyone?

Yeah, you should be ashamed for voting republican. Then again, Obama is being pretty shameful as a president. He can't get congress to pass a single reform bill but he can sure as hell booze it up with his buddy diplomats. EJP has a point about bitchslapping the opposition into submission, but nobody has ever seen a Democrat with a spine. Hence why healthcare, the environment, social security, the war, and the economy all suck hairy sweaty balls.
Have no faith in politics, people. It will always consist of the same douches and scumbags who can lie their way into office. Smear tactics, libels, and propaganda like that has ceased to surprise me.

Just an admin note, Silva, please avoid putting people down for how they vote. Respect the opinions of others, even if you don't share them.

Silva, where did you learn your party ideologies from or your campaign information? Here's a TL;DR for party ideologies Republican - rights are equal, capitalism/less government involvement in general affairs Democratic - services are equal, more government involvement/control in general affairs If you believe that you should work for what you get you are leaning towards a Republican ideal. If you believe everyone should get everything regardless of work you are leaning towards a Democratic ideal. I cannot justify the people in either party as both have their upstanding representatives and their human blemishes and both parties of late have been out of control.

That's a far too simplistic description of political party ideologies. Both the dems and repubs have supported both more and less government involvement in general affairs, it just depends on which affair they're talking about. Neither have truly supported equality of rights or services, instead they maintain the status quo to keep those rights and services to the elite upper class, while the rest of us get jack shit. I admit this is another simplistic description, but it's a bit more accurate in my oppinion.
My party ideology? I don't subscribe to either of them honestly. I don't vote for the Democrats because I like them, no way, I vote out of necessity. Those weak willed appeasing buffoons are the only thing keeping us from utter tyranny of the Republicans, and even though they have the most power in the white house and congress, they still can't handle the constant smears and attacks from their supposed opposition so they've buckled down already and continue to give us nothing more than what we've had to endure for the past eight years. What a shame.
Personally I'm just flat out against the government. My views range from libertarianism to anarcho-syndicalism, but overall I can't agree with Donut more. I can't stand politics, the system is busted.

Silva, I can't even begin to try to reply to such a deep-seated mindset such as that. But so be it that it is your opinion. *Also the definition I listed was pulled from a textbook, barring the nuances of being associated with that party. And I don't think I should really being having to tell you that not all Democrats are spineless, bleeding-heart ninnies and not all Republicans are ignorant, rampaging tyrants. I'll leave it to your whims to look at the history of both to decide for yourself, but then again you seem to be going from a little different criteria... And silly Silva, if you hate the system you can always migrate to another system on the planet. Or better yet begin the process to change the system to suit your needs!

"Hurr if you don't like this country you can just git out!"
Oh please, I like this country better than any other on this planet, I just have the most disdain for the people who try to run it. And when I do change the system, you all better watch out.

Last chance, this is getting out of hand. Any more smartalleck comments from anyone and I'm shutting this thread down, I don't care who they're from. Silva, if you can't behave civilly, then don't post. Every single time there's any thread that even mentions politics in passing, you turn it into a freaking mudfest and I'm not having any more of it. Behave yourself. This is your last warning.

SilvaSince you clearly posses thorough knowledge of the inner workings of the country and a devastating command when it comes to interpreting and utilizing the English language, we'll leave it at that. I'm glad we had such a riveting and civil discussion, however brief. I'm sure your plans will take you places given your attitude and I wish you luck in pursing them.
