[Modern with futuristic elements, Power Level 1-3]
If this was a movie the opening scene would show space. As the credits roll all manner of existent and non-existent celestial bodies lazily spin in and out of the picture until finally a big blue ball, specked with white and green, enters from below and is focused upon. "Earth" the narrator declares as if no-one has figured that out by now and the camera begins zooming in, while the narrator drones on about how the humans think they are alone but a few individuals are about to learn otherwise. The zoom focuses on the north American continent, then the United States, Arizona, and finally a particularly empty stretch of desert, a little speck finally growing to form a shabby, run down gas station.
Of course, none of this happens here, since this is no movie.

This is an old storyline idea I just recently revised. The premise is rather simple, your characters get marooned at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, no cars pass, the pay phone is dead, the filling stations empty, the door has no handle and the windows are blind with grime and dirt. Suddenly a dust cloud approaches from the far reaches of the desert. Could this be the characters ticket out of here?
The plot will involve identically named twin pairs, a bus with a living paint job, the MIB, the CIA, the CIA, the in-betweeners, knowledge in bottles and all manner of weird stuff.
I'm looking for 4 to 6 "normal" humans, meaning without any superpowers, highly trained is fine. Quirky and weird traits preferred, this is supposed to be humorous in the vein of Douglas Adams/Jasper Fforde/Terry Pratchett.
Any takers?
