(I hope I did this right.)
Today, I bring you probably the only fanfic I have ever written that I have truly enjoyed writing. What began as a dare and a test to myself to prove something has quickly become a story that I have enjoyed writing.
Fire Emblem: Spellbinding Radiance
Before I go any further, please bear in mind that the story is a self-insert. Yes, I know... self-inserts are inherently bad, which is why I did the dare to try to write a good self-insert. I, myself, think it's mediocre, but quite a few of my reviewers (some of which I keep in touch with on AIM and the like) seem to think otherwise.
The story is about a college freshman (myself) who is magically transported into the world of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Essentially, the story is an adapt of the video game, but with major twists and turns thrown into the story that will make even the seasoned game player who knows everything about the world not knowing what will happen next.
At first, he struggles with the concept that these "characters" are now real life people and there is no reset button upon which to press when something screws up. He is also struggling as he realizes the events in this world is not the same as the game and, in due course, comes to accept what he cannot change and anticipate the things he does not.
The story is told in first person and details my thought processes (or rather, my character's). The story is filled (as some reviewers say) with rather witty dialogue at times, flowing narration, pop-culture references that none of the characters seems to get, an in-depth look at personalities that the game does not explore, and much more.
Here are the story's stats:
Fire Emblem - Rated: M - English - Adventure - Chapters: 58 - Words: 289,160 - Reviews: 286 - Updated: 11-16-09 - Published: 11-21-07
