Warning: Not an anime for people younger than 18, sensitive people, the faint of heart or easily offended. The anime is about a cat-girl (or elf girl) who escapes a military facility and uses her psychic powers to turn all who stand in her way into paste. Eventually, the girl runs into with a pair of generic anime characters who find themselves in loads of trouble. I found the premise refreshing, even though I'm only two episodes in. This is one I'm surely going to keep an eye out for. The anime contains shameless nudity, excessive violence, gallons of blood and foul language. If you have any problem with any of them, don't watch. For those of you who can take it, click the link below to begin. Episode 1 - Part 1

Dunno, aside from the boobs and blood at the start, the story is pretty shallow. There is also a SPOILER?! harem aspect that is just thrown in there for no reason.

They couldnt capture the full essence of the story from the manga, as for classification, shes not a cat or an elf, shes a complete different species as those things on her head are horns

(This post may or may not contain spoilers. I don't feel like catching myself) Instead of having your episodes split into 2 or 3 parts the lame youtube way, you can watch full episodes here. I can't say I've read the manga. Most of the manga I read is while I sit in the aisles of Barnes and Noble. Most of what they carry is rather tamed, and even then what isn't so tame is distributed by TokyoPop and is thus censored thanks to the fact that American entertainment media is okay with gratuitous violence and explicit sexual content, but God help you if you show the boobies. Oh heavens, we can't have that! Think of the CHILDREN!!! </rant> *coughs* Anywho, as I said, I don't know much about the manga. However, according to the anime story, she's not a completely different species: she's a mutated human. Same species, just further down the evolutionary scale. Just thought I'd clear that up. Claymore and Afro Samurai are on my top 10 list, so I'm pretty sure you can guess my stance on gore and nudity. Initially, the story's " okay", I guess, but what ruined it for me was the completely useless harem sideplot. I know it's all part of the "she must repopulate the Earth with her mutant progeny" crap, but it got to the point where, by episode 5, I would quite literally take off the headphones and spin around in my chair until the scene was over. I mean, it wasn't even the kind of Tenchi Muyo-esque that was actually fun and entertaining; Elfen Lied's variety is nothing more than your garden variety "multiple girls living in a house with one guy who for some reason become sexual attracted to him although he has no real redeeming or outstanding qualities." If this is not how it is in the manga, if there's actually some serious backstory to it all that's beging left out for the sake of the series's brevity, then whoever adapted the anime would have been better off minimizing the shameless sexuality aspect and developing more upon the main plot. As it currently stands, it's trying to be 2 different genre in only 13 episodes (14 with the ova), and because of it, it's only mediocre at either. THAT ASIDE ( in caps because that's a lot to put aside), it's decent. It has some genuinely awesome moments, one example being that part in either episode 1 or 2 where she's on the beach with Soldier Boy (you know what I mean). But, given the above, it's just not enough to make it anything more than decent, on my list. The music, honestly, is the best part. I could listen to the opening on loop forever. I'm so downloading that soundtrack...
