I got fifty bucks to spend on something. What should I spend it on? There's a lot of things I really want. Mario Kart Wii, for instance, as well as Mass Effect 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. But I don't know which one to go for, as I've heard great things about all of them, and obviously, not all of them are for fifty bucks or less.
So, what should I get? And if I I should get something else, what is it?

Of the 3 listed, I'm reluctant to discount Mass Effect 2, but I recommend Left 4 Dead 2. And I spit on Mario Karts Wii and it's grave. =3
(I hate Mario games and racing games. Though neither of the other two really suit my fancy either, because I'm not much of a shooter game person. But I love zombie games enough to ignore it. Which is why I recommend Left 4 Dead 2. That and my friends preach about it. xD)

Buy Porn! *IS JOKING!*
I'd buy Mass Effect 2. It looks epic and if you played the first game you'll really love the 2nd. Tali is back! Strange as it seem, the most clothed female character in video game history *As far as I know* is my favorite character from that game.
Now if you are looking for a game besides those I'd get Fallout 3. If you already have Fallout 3 buy the add ons/expansions. I only have Broken Steel and Point Look Out and I can already tell you it was worth the buy.
Other than those two I can suggest the Orange Box and Mercenaries 2. Both are a lot of fun and both cost less than $50.

Mass Effect 2 will be a while. However, it's definitely worth considering. Mario Kart Wii is great, amazing, really. It's a lot of fun and really brings me back to the fun I had with my friends playing the SNES and N64 games.
I should note this before VP the maniacal L4D fangirl comes on and sees this. Left 4 Dead 2 is loads of fun, BUT... it's not meant for single player. If you're gonna get it, make sure you're able to play it with others. preferably online, as the split screen is sort of... ehhhh. Oh, you also have new DLC coming soon for it, so if you get number two, make note of that.

Yes, get L4D2 Also, it increases in fun when you play with a mic. And when you play with ppl that have a mic. Thus, if you get it, try to friend ppl who have mics xD. Playing without a mic is actually a little boring to me.
