Name: Reiner Kirtz [pronounced “Rainer Keerts”]
Age: 24 (as of 1987)
Gender: male
Race: human
Alignment: chaotic good
Power level: 2
Timeline: late 20th century
Appearance:
Physical Appearance: Reiner is the typical weight and height for a young European male, somewhere around 5’9” and weighing in at a slim 140 pounds (but if one were to ask him, he would respond in metrics - 175 cm and 63 kg). He has honey blonde, slightly wavy hair which always has a clean but disorderly appearance. His hair is a medium length, his bangs coming down to his brows and the back coming about halfway down his ears and partway down his neck. He has large grey eyes, fairly pale skin, and an angular, narrow face which shows his nationality well. He does not have supermodel looks, by any means, but he is attractive.
Attire: His clothes are not too out of the ordinary for a young person fashionable in the music scene in the ‘80s. On his lower half, he wears either a pair of denim jeans or black windbreaker track pants, and on his top half he prefers brightly colored tee shirts. He likes for his shirts to bear writing, a lot of them containing anti-Soviet messages in both German and English. It is rare for him to be seen without his Ray-Ban Aviators on his nose or pushed up onto his head unless he has decided to trade them temporarily for a pair of neon shutter shades. He usually wears a worn-out pair of black and white sneakers regardless of what else he’s wearing with them. In the winter, he wears a dark grey trench coat over the rest of his clothes. Reiner rarely dresses formally, the only exceptions being to attend church services, funerals, etc. In the present day, his attire might attract a few odd glances, but it could classify as severely retro.
Outstanding features: (none)

Personality:
When happy and at equilibrium, he is very easygoing and is pleasant to be around. He’s very sociable and fun-loving. Though he spends most of his time in a pleasant mood, he does occasionally become upset. When in this mood, he is stubborn and argumentative. He becomes loud and would be considered obnoxious by many people. Even when peeved, he is not physically violent. Regardless of what mood he’s in, Reiner always attempts to put the needs of others ahead of his own. He is always very outgoing and does not mind having center stage. Tactics, leadership, and planning are skills that come naturally to him, and he always takes a firm stand for his causes. Negatively, he can be manipulative, he is cynical of others’ motives, and he is a tad sarcastic. Though his intentions are always good, he is known to be a bit reckless.
When attempting to speak English, he tends to stumble over his words a bit, using a lot of verbal fillers like 'eh' and 'um'. Despite this, he is otherwise understandable and has a considerable vocabulary.
History:
Born in 1963 in Russian-occupied East Berlin of the GDR, Reiner led as normal a life as possible for someone in that situation. As an only child, he grew up knowing only his mother and father, the rest of his family separated from them since 1961 by the Berlin Wall. Because of monetary reasons, his relatives in the West were unable to visit frequently. Of course, they themselves were not allowed to visit the West. As he grew up, the Wall did as well, becoming more and more imposing. Even before he had started school, it had gone from being a puny wire fence to being an immovable concrete blockade, complete with The Death Strip. Obviously, he was too young at the time to fully grasp why they weren’t allowed to leave East Berlin, but like most young children, he didn’t think too much about what was beyond his own city.
Despite the Wall, the tension of the times, and the many other national and international problems involved with the Cold War era, Reiner had a fairly happy childhood. He was an easy child and, since he was their only one, he had his parents’ full devotion. However, his time with his parents was limited, as they both worked long hours to make ends meet in the less-than-perfect economy. His mother stayed home with him from the time he was born until he was two years old, and after that he was often left in daycare centers through most of the day until his parents could pick him up that evening. This didn’t seem to particularly bother him or leave him with any problems as he aged, save for the fact that as a toddler he was very introverted.
Reiner entered kindergarten at the age of three and stayed there until he was six, and afterwards he entered polytechnic secondary school (POS). After his first year, it was obvious that he was very intelligent and had great potential. He picked up foreign languages quickly, including the required Russian classes as well as his English elective, and he also excelled at history and politics. His newfound interest in these types of classes sparked in him the desire to learn more about the rest of the world. He was upset when his parents explained to him what had happened in World War II and why they were being punished the way they were, telling him he would not be allowed to leave East Berlin with any ease.
Around his third year of POS, all traces of timidity were gone from him and he had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He maintained his high marks and gained entrance into the extended secondary school (EOS) where he completed eleventh and twelfth grade. Unhappy because of the heavy regulations placed on them by the government, Reiner had become somewhat of a delinquent, often in trouble for ‘inciting riots’. Though he never meant for his protests to be violent, he would often get so many people involved that others would become violent. On multiple occasions, Reiner has spent the night in prison for attempting to start revolutions.
When serving his required eighteen months in the service (the Baueinheiten, a military construction group for conscientious objectors), Reiner met several other revolutionaries who shared his point of view. At first, their plans of how to topple the Soviet regime started off merely as jokes and wishful thinking, but after awhile, he and about ten other members began to make serious plots, paying off various people for weapons and government information. Reiner finished up his conscription and went to work afterwards, unable to attend a university because of certain Baueinheiten laws at the time.
Currently, Reiner keeps various odd jobs and is still known by the local law enforcers as a troublemaker. He keeps contact with the other revolutionaries he has met and takes part in all sorts of protests. Not all of his free time is spent inciting riots, however. Like most young men, he enjoys the company of drinking buddies and pretty women, house parties, and listening to music (his favorite artists being REO Speedwagon, Air Supply, and Nena).
Powers:
No superpowers or anything out of the ordinary. However, he picks up foreign languages quickly and is fluent in English and knows a fair amount of French and Russian. Reiner also prides himself on being a logical, calculating tactics master (though this might be his own opinion more than a fact). He received basic training while in the service, so he has enough hand-to-hand combat experience to win most fights.
Equipment:
He has several firearms hidden in his apartment, but he does not often carry them on his person. He usually keeps a switchblade with him, but he is not a very physically violent person and would prefer not to use it.
Weakness:
He’s just your average human and anything that would kill you will kill him.
His temper is often a problem for him, for while he is usually quite logical and makes intelligent decisions, he tends to act rashly when angered.

Had to research like crazy for this one, so if something's historically wrong with his background, feel free to inform me.
