The Germans can buy "level-ups" for any and all catagories of units. This effects all current and future units, and can be bought again for more resources up till they are fully leveled. If they Allies team doesn't harrass them, they can eventually send out maxed-out Tiger King tanks our something, which translate to: gg. That is, unless you spam riflemen squads with sticky bombs but that will be extremely expensive.

There are 2 versions, normal ones and ones with "Luke Skywalker" class drivers/pilots. I haven't gotten them, but a fully-upgraded one is supposed to be gg for the Allies, unless they're experts which would probably stop the Germans from rolling one out in the first place... I think they're officially called "Tiger Aces" in the game.
I'll play more when I'm done here. *UPDATE*
I've just got done with 2 short games and have more details on armor.
The Germans focus on hard-to-kill armor. Their biggest (Terror Doctrine power branch required) tank is the Tiger Ace. It is nigh-indestructible. While it doesn't kill things quickly, M4 Shermans are screwed, AT guns are screwed, M10 Tank Destroyers are screwed, M4 "Crocodile" Shermans are screwed, this other Allied tank is screwed, just about anything the Allies have can't go one-on-one with the Tiger Ace and survive.
Good thing for the US that the Germans can only have one at a time, it doesn't level up or get upgrades, and its at the bottom of the Terror Doctrine power branch. 'Bout the only things I reckon can beat a TA head on are the Shermans with rocket-launchers (use rockets ASAP) or stationary Flack 88's (which I have only seen on one map, and the Germans had them all). US artillery is usually too inaccurate to kill em.
Here's what I reckon is the German tank food-chain starting from the top:
Tiger Ace Panther 4 Panzer 4 Strug 4 Flack Tank thingy Armored Car Half-Track w/o the rocket-launcher
All the US get are M4 Shermans, M4 "Crocodile" Shermans, Sherman's with rocket-launchers, armored cars, M10 (cheap) Tank Destroyers, and this other one whose name I can't remember but plays like a Panther 4 rip-off. Its at the bottom of the US Armor Division power branch, and you can have multiple for the crippling cost of 900 Manpower and 12 population each.
Oh, and on another note, it apparently uses a moddified physics engine from Half-Life 2.

The game calls it Panther IV. M26 Pershing, that's what that last US tank was, thanks. Also, I said it played like a Panther IV. The game doesn't mention the "King" part.

I just got me a butt-load of patches, and the loading times are still lethal. Oh, and I heard of a "stand-alone" exp. pack for it: Opposing Forces, or something. Supposedly its like BF2 and BF2: SP in that you can play one without the other but need both to play both. 2 new factions: Great Britain and the Panzer Lehr Division. The Brits got "hero infantry" stuff and the PLD... if you thought the regular Germans had tanks with the Terror Doctrine powers, you ain't seen nothing yet. I heard something like "Tiger II" and mobile defensive emplacements.
