Name: Cassandra of Agathe
Alias: Soldier 02, Seeress of Dion
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power Level: Low-tier Medium (4)
Timeline: Ancient Greece/Modern/Flexible
Appearance: Cassandra is a beautiful girl of traditional Greek features with the unusual combination of having blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin. She is of a petite build and has a youthful presence that gives her a Little Sister vibe, presenting an innocent aura which drives others to both believe and oblige her. Coming from a society that appreciated light, flowing clothes, she has kept to as similar attire as possible in adapting to modern clothing. She likes light, sleeveless shirts, strapless bras and light, loose skirts. She makes some exceptions given the colder environment of Brad Mason's homeland compared to her own, manifesting as short boots and a sweater-coat that has an attached hood. Clashing with the rest of her appearance, however, is the presence of a number of thick metal bands across her body, most notably her neck, wrists, waist and ankles.
As Soldier 02, she is clad in a full helmet much like a motorcycle helmet with a slanted, arrow-like visor and her entire face covered likewise, save for a jointed space for the mouth, which is sealed over separately. The inner workings of the suit are protected by spandex and kevlar supplemented with titanium pauldrons, limb plates, breastplates, jointed gloves and boots. The kevlar, spandex and the majority of the helmet are yellow, trimmed by the titanium's chrome. Numerous solar panels protected by bulletproof plexiglas are located over her suit for maximum exposure, and multiple vents on the back can be seen. The exterior of her aspis and the hilt of her gladius are both decorated to appear crafted from bronze, and the former is mounted to a mechanical bracer on her left arm while the latter is sheathed within the shield. 02 is engraved on both the face of the shield and the pommel base of the sword.
Personality: Cassandra is a pure and innocent heart with inhuman insight courtesy of her power. She never questions its visions or hesitates to take or encourage the actions toward what it says is the best outcome. She bears no ill will toward any living thing, and is a nurturer by nature. However, her utter faith in her sight can seem naive to others and give an impression of her being detached or inconsiderate of consequences.
History: Cassandra is pretty much just your average city girl from metropolitan Dion, Macedonia ... circa 339 BCE. As pretty much the biggest religious city of the era and a major destination for people throughout the Mediteranean, it benefitted from very modern accommodations, but there was also a very strict expectation of its citizenry to be proper. As such, she received a very traditional education, learning housework, cooking and loomweaving, among a number of less essential skills expected of a young woman. Her mother also taught her reading, writing and basic maths. While uncommon, such lessons weren't unheard of, and her mother firmly believed in the importance of these practical skills.
She had grown up with her visions and thus never really came to terms with the idea that they were odd to others, and her seemingly suddenly random actions or insistences never really endeared her to her peers, even less so when seemingly meaningless actions had their purpose revealed in ways that could have been overlooked had she not been so deliberate about them. As such, when she was fourteen and a half, her father went to confess to her how hard it was making it to find her a good husband, as the attractive but strange girl had developed a reputation that preceded her. Only to find her packing a bag. She laughed like the idea was silly and told him that was already all taken care of. In fact, she was leaving that night.
Her parents sat bewildered as she kissed them goodbye, but regathered themselves before she could leave and insisted she stay put while they run this one by the gods. They rushed for an emergency consultation at the Temple of the Gods, but were bewildered by the run-around they got and found themselves waiting several hours before they could see a priest. Once they finally did, he patiently listened to their problem and let them pour all of their concerns out to him. He then consoled them and assured them that the gods had already instructed him in their particular issue before they arrived. He then shocked them by turning stern and reprimanding them. They knew of her power, that the gods were using her as their hand, and yet they would question it instead of giving their support? Of course, being parents, they were hesitant to release their naive child just run off into the wide world for unknown reasons. The priest smiled knowingly and apologetically reminded them that they had been at the temple for hours, what made them think the girl was still there?
Panicked, they rushed home, but found only a note, wherein Cassandra apologized for not staying any longer but explained that she would be late if she did, and promised to write.
It was after this where she headed off to her first encounter with Brad Mayson, the 21st century engineer who would consult for the young Alexander III of Macedon. After only two such meetings - always there to greet him when he came through a portal - the next time he was ready to leave, she was waiting for him with a packed bag and would not take no for an answer on coming with him.
It is through her that he has amassed the incredible funding necessary for his Soldier suits and all of the other resources necessary for their adventures. One of the first things she did upon arriving - and promptly claiming a room as her own without consulting him - was buy a winning lottery ticket in his name. She then proceeded to guide its investment in the stock market according to her visions' guidance. It took her a while to grasp using a computer to do so, but she generally proved unintimidated by the futuristic nature of her surroundings, taking them in smiling stride as she does so many other things.
And one day, she presented him with a drawing of a second suit of powered armor ... and said he had until two more time trips pass to complete it.
Powers: All of her combat abilities come from her powered suit, not from her own self, though she does have one very noteworthy power that may be even more outrageous.
Cassandra possesses an innate and highly detailed ability of future sight. How far into the future she can see varies at any given time, as does what events she can view, but always seem to embrace a larger plan or destiny. Where these visions come from is a mystery, but they are a near constant presence in her life, giving the impression to the outsider that she lives almost entirely outside of the present, the source of her spacey, airheaded impression she gives. She can even tell when and where the next time portal will appear - a mystery that continues to elude the party - and her continuous presence five seconds in the future, as well as surprising natural combat talent, gives her an edge in battle over the drawback her utter inexperience and nonaggressive nature would have formed.
Equipment: Incredibly crude by Sentai standards, the Soldier 02 Power Armor is the core of Cassandra's combat abilities, but it has little to offer in terms of flair and sparkle. Listed below are its features.
Voice Imprint Protocols - The Soldier Power Armor responds only to its user's voice in predetermined, preprogrammed command lines. This security feature has a major drawback, however: The user must announce her actions in advance, ruining the element of surprise if the opponent knows what the function does.
Hydraulic Mini-Lifts - This crude system of hydraulics and tubes is built into the interior of the suit, responding to motion by the user to augment physical strength. With it, a man of average strength can throw another man fifty feet, but less brutish actions require a great deal of care not to overdo it, making control an issue.
Solar Panel Array - Located in positions most likely to catch sunlight, they are constructed out of as durable materials as possible and protected by the highest-quality bulletproof glass and polymers. They power all systems in the suit. If for whatever reason they are offline, the internal battery (which can be recharged by the array) can power basic functions for up to twelve hours. Advanced functions such as Aero Thrusters and general combat lower this according to rate of use. Using the suit's finisher drains it entirely and immediately.
Accelerated Movement System - Essentially, a pair of roller blades backed by the Aero Thrusters located on the suit's shoulders, hips and ankles, this virtually barbaric system is a poor substitute for increased agility, making maneuverability on slick surfaces extremely vulnerable and quick turns dangerous to attempt without practice and experience. The roller blades fold out from the base of the boots and lock into place, while the Aero Thrusters activate based on the movement of the user.
Ballistic Armor - One day, powered suits will repel blows through counterkinetic fields, defensive screens and revolutionary nanofibers that absorb more force than modern tank armor. Until then, the combination of titanium plating and laminated kevlar only restricts motion somewhat compared to those future technologies and shrugs off small arms fire and minor explosions, retains its strength in immense cold, resists incredibly high temperatures, and resists both fire and acid. The kevlar portions of the armor absorb five and a half times the force as steel and cover the entire body, with the titanium reinforcing key sections even further.
Soldier Sword and Shield - Cassandra's shield is made of armor-grade titanium with an inner lining of kevlar to mitigate impact force and is mounted onto a gear assembly built into her suit's left arm. Normally locked into position, it can slide on a rail to rest on her back or return to her forearm on command. The gear assembly can launch it at high speeds from her arm according to her motions, and it is attached by a lengthy steel cable for retraction and control. She says this reminds her of a yo-yo toy she had when she was younger, and greatly enjoys using this trait to drastically extend her attack range. The sword is sheathed within the shield itself and is crafted of high-carbon stainless steel to maintain its edge. It is a full tang with a kevlar grip. Of course, a shield on a leash is clumsy and hard to control, but while hard-mounted to her arm, the sword and board combo proves it is classic for a reason, making them perhaps the potentially least problematic portions of the suit.
Electric Discharge System - Evolved from Brad's own Electric Grip, this channels high-voltage currents into Cassandra's weaponry, turning her sword into a weapon where even a blocked hit can be dangerous, and her shield into a reason you wouldn't want to hit her with melee attacks. Unfortunately, it isn't really power-efficient.
Diabolo Overdrive - Soldier 02's equivalent to the Final Vent weapon system overloads the discharge circuits to provide maximum power to the shield launcher and the shield, itself, is encased in a brilliant electrical field. When launched, Cassandra can maintain momentum for several powerful combo strikes before the energy is exhausted. Energy to the shield is maintained via the cable. The high spin speed of the shield in this attack exceeds the speed of sound. This attack is equivalent to a high PL5 combo attack if done while the battery is at full power, but leaves it completely drained. See Soldier 01 for cooldown and recharge times, though the bigger risk is to her shield. This abuse can damage the shield and the gear system in numerous ways, and generally she will avoid launching the shield again even normally until a maintenance check can be done.
Olympus Blade - In the same way as her shield, Cassandra can also choose to perform this "Final Vent" into her blade instead, though she cannot do both at the same time and both have the same drain, so she also can't use both even in the same fight. This overloads the electrical field to levels that ignite plasma much like an arc welder. The field enveloping the field is five times hotter than lava and can reasonably be expected to cleave through virtually any defense ... in the short time it's active. She can only maintain this level of energy for roughly a single strike, and the intense energy and heat levels risk damaging or weakening the blade. Further use of the sword in combat after using Olympus Blade is not recommended until a maintenance check can be done.
Weakness: Cassandra is just a normal human without her power suit in terms of combat potential. Even her future sight can't really make a waifish waifu hit harder. And even with the suit, if she expends its power supply, all she has is her own abilities and the defense of the body armor. Also, unlike typical sentai, her suit is not air-tight.
