Name: Valerie Valeford
Aliases: Dreadlord Valzekor
Age: Billions of years, presents as a youthful but nonspecific adult, older than 20, but less than 35.
Gender: Though biologically optional for dreadlords, none would question that Valzekor is female.
Race: Dreadlord, a race of divine-born, shapeshifting energy beings with incredibly unfortunate naming conventions (c. Raptorman)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power Level: 10 (Illegal for formal entry in RPs)
Timeline: Modern
Appearance: Despite being a shapeshifter, Valerie rarely makes more than slight cosmetic changes to better fit particular outfits and has long since settled on her self-identified form. Medium-tall is the perfect height, able to rest one's head against a handsome man's chest for a photo shoot, or step into heels to reach "statuesque." Shimmering, silky, flowing locks look the best and feel wonderful to run one's hands through, with a medium-length blonde having broadest appeal to her demographic. With hair color set, the ideal eye color is limited to blue or green. Though she is fond of bright green for its vivid, eye-popping distinction, she will sometimes switch to baby blue for effect, though never right in front of anyone. Despite it being willed to be so, she is very proud of her flawless caucasian flesh and generously hourglass shape, with a bust large enough to rest on another's head and hips to match. She has the body of a supermodel, and loves to clad it accordingly. Never is she seen but that she is elegantly and fashionably attired, favoring light gowns and layered dresses when she isn't cosplaying as something. When she goes to the beach, even her bikini is luxuriously styled, flattering her body while maximizing her sun exposure.
Personality: Socially graceful, unhesitatingly charismatic, utterly captivating, stunningly beautiful, and fundamentally lazy, Valerie's presence can fill a room, but is more likely to be filling her gaming chair. She is absolutely obsessed with gaming and game culture and dedicates the majority of her time toward it. With no need to sleep, she pours unrivaled hours into grinding on MMOs, honing her skills in RTSs and collecting her favorite ultra-rare gachas. Anything that draws her away from them leads to complaints about not being able to make progress on her gaming backlog or missing in-game events. The one exception to this is gaming conventions, where she is a regular, easily recognizable and popular member, splitting her time between cosplays and making sure she sees every booth and is first in line for every demo and unique giveaway. This has led to developing a rivalry with a fellow cosplayer and event attendee, and their social media toussles over who had the better costume or who cheated worse to get that super premium unique item code giveaway draw exponential views and revenue.
History: Dreadlords are the children of the Dreadmaster, a deity of entropy who, despite the name, is a completely non-evil being central to the balance of the universe between growth and decline. The name for both has come from the unfortunate number of dreadlords who have used their abilities for selfish reasons, creating a demonization of the whole race and their father by proxy. Good or evil, ambitious or idle, all dreadlords accomplish their purpose in existence merely by existing, absorbing energy from the universal engine without returning it in some manner like all other beings do. Even when they die, rather than releasing the energy back into the system, it returns to their father, gathered for the eventual rebirth of the universe.
Though not truly immortal, individual dreadlords can live for longer than most entire civilizations, leaving them plenty of time to develop hobbies, build skill sets and acquire mementos of their favorite places. As an elder dreadlord, Valzekor has had a particularly long time, and has been fascinated by interactive media for much of it. Indeed, her infamous backlog transcends mere human gamelists, and her complete collection is an entire pocket dimension worthy of being declared a galactic historical museum of gaming. Server supplies for Prismere Tides of the Sualon, the MMO once famous across a galactic arm for being deathly addictive, six-armed kit for the legendarily brutal LARP system SMASHKICK, and yes, even an original Frogger cabinet are prized components of her collection.
Considered an incredibly eccentric extremophile by most of her siblings for the way she integrates herself into a society and the minimalist, low-impact diet she maintains, she was fully content with the prospect of living out her life, or at least humanity's, undisturbed by familial tumult. It wasn't that she had any particular dislike for her family, rather the other way around, but it meant that she had all the undisturbed time to pursue her hobbies as she pleased. That came to a ... not an end, but certainly a bump in the road. A bump named Aloraster. Her noisy little half brother came blustering into town, promptly got himself in trouble with the locals, and their father dragged him out of the aftermath to her, asking her to help keep him out of trouble and learn a little about proper behavior. Typical family story, told a dozen times over. Sure, there's usually a few less alien bug men, destruction of entire cities and general mayhem, but she's pretty sure there were about the same number of mixed socks, so it all comes out the same.
Now charged by her father, whom she would do anything for, with little Allie's introduction to appreciating humanity, she's got planned a lifetime's worth of beach bunnying, booth babing, cosplaying and all-night three-week gaming marathons to teach her baby brother everything (she thinks) he needs to know.
Powers:
Energy Absorption - The primary trait of a dreadlord, and also their main source of sustenance. Over their lives, they will absorb unfathomable quantities of energy, which is what makes them so powerful. As beings of energy, what they absorb is added directly to them. There is no intermediary process like in organic species. Likewise, expelling energy is similarly direct. However, they also need much more energy to sustain themselves than organic beings. Were a human's caloric intake to be stored in batteries, we would be extremely energy efficient, requiring only a single AA battery per person per day. A single dreadlord would require a box of D batteries for the same time. Which they can, in fact, use as a supplementary meal, and Valzekor keeps a small stockpile as emergency rations just in case, but they're acidic and leave a metallic aftertaste. This, however, is just their base daily requirements. If they performed a great deal of feats or otherwise extensively utilized their powers, they would need to consume much more to make up for it. This is one of the chief reasons why Valerie makes a point to keep her head down and not go running off every time disaster strikes, and as such, she can literally get by with spending an hour a day sunbathing on the beach within walking distance of her home. One could say that she's really being a lazy beach bum to save the world. From her. Also, superheroing would seriously impede her gaming time.
There is no upper limit on how much or what type of energy a dreadlord can consume, even at one time, or at least no practical limit. However, they have to at least get their daily minimum, or they will begin suffering from starvation like any other species. It is also fully possible to completely expend oneself, though for elder dreadlords, doing so would require the expenditure of at least solar systems worth of energy.
Energy Control - Not only can a dreadlord consume energy, but they have absolute control over it, both their own and any energy around them. Though they may be clumsy with it in their youth, an elder dreadlord like Valzekor essentially has no practical limitations on the ways by which they can manipulate it. Boosting, stripping, healing, blasting, and nearly anything else they can imagine, they can do it all.
Matter Manipulation - As an extension of their energy control, an advanced dreadlord can manipulate matter, itself, mostly by atomic manipulation. Change the number of particles making up the atoms, and suddenly you've got a completely different element. Size, density, toughness, solidity, all of it is determined by an object's molecules, and Valerie can manipulate the state of those molecules with ease.
Shapeshifting - Dreadlords are energy beings, and as such, physical forms are more like suggestions. Some don't take physical forms at all. But Valerie finds it hard to hold a controller without one. The exact details of that body, however, are entirely at her whim. Despite its seemingly obvious benefit to her cosplaying hobby, however, she insists on never using it for her costumes. This would be too much like cheating, and would cheapen her claims of dedication to her beloved pastime of gaming. Instead, billions of years is plenty of time to become a very good seamstress.
Psionics - This is technically an extension of their energy control, as well, as thoughts can be simplified into energy. Indeed, as energy beings without defined corporeal forms, it is through thought that they most naturally manipulate the world around them, so using it for psionic powers comes naturally to all dreadlords. Valzekor can exercise the entire suite of psychic powers, including mind-reading, mind control, telekinesis, teleportation and so on. About the only one she can't use is futuresight. Nothing about manipulating the energy in another person's brain translates to seeing the future, unfortunately.
Reality Manipulation - Not a Dreadlord trait, surprisingly enough, but rather native to Valerie's maternal species, as all Dreadlords are sired by the Dreadmaster to different women of different species and civilizations. Especially if the civilization has lemon bars. One such civilization was a race of people with low level reality manipulation. It wasn't powerful to produce world-shaking effects, with limited range and weak staying power. Instead, it came to be used more like their equivalent of electricity than some truly divine feat. As a dreadlord, Valerie's is far more powerful than is standard for her maternal race, but in a high state of irony for the usually game-breaking reality manipulation, this is actually notably her weakest power. She is able to create modest objects and cause effects across any distance so long as she has an active link to them, usually telepathic, though even something like a Skype video call would work. However, for truly meaningful effects, she pairs it with her matter manipulation for an immensely powerful combination.
Equipment: Certainly an unusual collection of gear, compared to superheroes. She has an abundant supply of video gaming equipment, many, many cosplay costumes, countless statuettes, a darn fine bikini, and a high quality travel package of scissors, needles and thread for emergency repairs of wardrobe malfunctions.
Weakness: She prioritizes participation in her hobbies and the sanctity of her collection very highly, and would rather argue with a kaiju about how she is too busy getting to a midnight release launch to kerfuffle with him right now than actually change course and deal with said kaiju. That being said, she can be very charismatic and wise when the situation calls for it, and can be a natural leader. When she can be arsed to bother.
