Ok this movie was done mostly in CG but with that uber lame cartoon drawning crap over some of the characters, so I don't know if it really fits here, but it was listed under anime in the rentals where I rented it.
I remeber I first heard about it here on the EAB in an add. I bet some of you remember seeing that add. Well since I got this free membership to net flicks for 2 months and I needed to have a minimum of 5 movies in my Q. I decided to rent Appleseed, just because it was for free so if it was bad I wouldn't give a crap. So I watched it and I must say, it was badly writen. I found it confusing at alot of times and the more it went on the more the B.S.D.F. meeter kept rising. So I didn't like it, except for the very begining. That part was cool and they should have just kept with it.
Spolier AHEAD!
Ok, You've been warned. In around that last part they have these huge battle fortress mechs attack this gas tank like thing in the center of the city that has a viruses that going to make all humans unable to have kids. This is when the B.S.D.F. meeter hit it's highest. Mainly because the first damn thing you see on these mechs is a huge ass F-damn Artillary cannon which they don't end up using, even though they never really used it, till they got point blank. Now kids I know you should know that artillary can hit from far away and pretty accurate enough to destory a target the size of about a baseball feild. It like what lazy writers do to add saspeses to a story when in real life then weapon they are using could hit you from where they started. Let me give you an example. Have you ever seen the movie Red October? How about that end of Ghost in a Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd gig where they had an American nukuclar sub offshore of some poedunk island aiming a ICBM at the poedunk island? You know what the problem is with both of those? In both cases, the missle they had to fire from offshore, had a range of 4,000 miles if not up to 6,500miles. Still don't get it? It means you could fire a missile from the harbor of San Diago (Navy base there by the way, incase you didn't know.) and hit any target in Japan and greater. You do the math.
Another thing. The main character was way too emotional for a someone whose been fighting a war for over 3 years. Now I know someone thinks I'm wrong on that but If you were to think about it. When your fighting a war, a real war for 3 years or more, you tend to be cold and not caring when someone bites it. Or at the very least not crying about it. Because if you can't accept that people are dieing around you during that war, your not going to make it.
So what did you think?
